One of the most collectible models of its generation, the 40th Anniversary 996 debuted in 2004 to commemorate 40 years since the introduction of the first 911 in 1963. A total of 1,963 units were produced featuring a GT Silver Metallic finish over a Natural leather interior, the front fascia of the 911 Turbo, a limited-slip differential, Sport Suspension, the X51 Power Kit, special polished wheels, and other unique details. Accompanied by extensive documentation, this rare 996 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing approximately 35k miles on the odometer.

Finished in GT Silver Metallic, the 40th Anniversary 996 features unique styling cues that separate it from the rest of the 996 lineup, sporting a front fascia from the Turbo, GT3-style flared rocker panels, polished exhaust tips, and 18” Carrera II lightweight polished wheels. Additionally, a special ’40 Jahre 911” designation is fitted to the rear decklid. An optional rear window wiper is fitted, and a modification includes European-spec clear marker lights. The exterior is shown to remain in excellent condition, and the front bumper was refinished following minor cosmetic damage in 2009. Additionally, Ceramic Pro paint protection film was applied to the front end and all four wheel arches at the end of 2011, and records show that X-Pel paint protection film was applied to the hood and minor road wear was addressed with polishing and slight touch-ups in 2013, further minor touch-ups were performed in 2016, and a full ceramic coating in 2017. A remote power-retractable front license plate has been also been installed. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report and extensive documentation.

The interior is appointed with Natural Grey leather and features the optional matching floor mats and Comfort Seats with Power Package. Exclusive 40th Anniversary Edition details include aluminum-finished instrument dial rings, an Alcantara headliner, door sills with the “911” insignia, and a console limitation plate bearing the car’s limited-edition number of 576. This Carrera has been upgraded with a double-bin pocket above the head unit, a Kenwood Excelon 7” touchscreen radio head unit with a rear backup camera, a Hertz speaker set, and an Audison amplifier.

The 996 40th Anniversary Edition is equipped with the Exclusive X51 Power Kit which brings the output of the 3.6-liter flat-six engine up to 345 HP, an increase of 25 HP over the standard 996 Carrera.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission which provides a 0-60 time of approximately 4.5 seconds. The X51 Power Kit includes a valvetrain upgrade, cast-aluminum intake manifolds with a modified cross-section, and a remapped engine tune.  This special edition also comes standard with Turbo radiators, a limited-slip differential, and Sport Suspension. An upgraded Öhlins coilover suspension was installed, along with Fabspeed headers, X-pipe, catalytic converter, mufflers, and EVOMS ECU Tune installed in 2014.  The seller has provided email correspondence with the previous owner stating an IMS-bearing upgrade and Fabspeed upgrades including high-performance headers, cold air intake, exhaust, 82mm throttle body, and an updated ECU, although no invoice is available. Routine maintenance has been carried out by authorized Porsche dealers, as shown in the CARFAX report. Extensive service history dating back to 2012 is provided in the gallery.

This sale will include a clean title, a window sticker, and extensive documentation.

    #1098 weighing in here.

Very nice 40th, IMHO the most desirable of all 996 trims. Getting close to value range but still shy … the market will determine.

There are certain models in every generation that seem to hit the “sweet spot” and I believe the 40th is one of those. Limited edition numbered models of Porsche always seem to hold value in down markets and appreciate faster than their standard production siblings. These are investment drivers.

@Maxoverdrive Hi, as it is up to the buyer (as well as the expense), I am happy to help coordinate if necessary and certainly be available to release the car and sign off for it. As always, I would recommend an enclosed carrier for this caliber of vehicle. Good luck bidding and hope to meet you as the winning bidder, you won't be disappointed!

I’m surprised the seller didn’t attach the True360 report shown on the Carfax as it seems to have been done by them before the last sale. If they have the reference number it can be accessed here: https://autoreport.true360.com/

@EUROsellinc Very nicely presented example of a 40th. Will you be able to assist the buyer with reputable enclosed transport? Or will they need to chose their own? Thank you for your time. Glwa

man, I want to see video of the James Bond front license plate trick!

  • Nehmaiz (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

stunning example with all the all the best mods!
Don't know why people keep honkering on the IMS issue, If you're really interested go do a PPI, just by pressing the clutch pedal you can tell if clutch has been replaced or not... If the clutch has been replaced at any porsche/indy shop there's 99% likely hood the IMS has been done... And worst case scenario it's a $3.5k bill if you're the nit picky type of person! Just google the cost of all the mods and you'll see how much money has been already spent on this car, that type of owner is not skimming on the IMS repair...

Watching closely cause one of my 40th is exactly the same mileage! GLWA!

  • ArjuN911 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@EUROsellinc Appreciate you allowing someone to inspect it, but inspecting an IMS bearing is almost the same amount of work as just doing it, haha.
I am also fairly certain whoever did all these mods to the car, wouldn't miss out on doing the IMS bearing!

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Ecosse Our company owned the car several years ago (as a dealer) and sold it to the previous owner. We were 100% certain it was done and unfortunately, the physical record is not available at this time. We will try to obtain it but cannot guarantee it for obvious reason. You are more than welcome to have anyone inspect the car that you wish, if we were not certain of it being done we would not represent it in this way.

Very nice example - I’m familiar with the 40th Anniversary registry and I’m curious what records Ted has that allow him to confirm that the IMS was done on this car. Anything definitive or in writing that you can share with us would be helpful, thanks.

Does the kenwood unit have carplay?
On the paint meter readings, one reading is considerably higher than others at ~11 micron, can you highlight which panel this is, believe it is repainted?

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Wirebender A/C is ice cold as it should be, remember, this is one of the big plus's of getting a water cooled car vs air cooled. The car shows like a new car, no fading or discoloration on the film. This car has been garaged at all times when not in use.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@2007TT6SParkland not in possession of the receipt but I did reach out to Ted from the 40th Anniversary registry and he has confirmed that the IMS was done on this car. You can bid with confidence in regards to that. I will see if any of the bills reflect the front however, don't be deterred by that at all. If it weren't disclosed there would be no detection of any repair. The previous ownership was meticulous and made sure it was all 100%. To build confidence, I left the car with PCARMARKET and it can be inspected there. Send any professional you would like, there are not going to be any disappointments.

Beautiful car and presentation, I am in Florida how is the A/C behaving? It sounds like the PPF was installed several years ago, how is its condition and are there many rock chips underneath on the hood? Thank you!

As previous owner of a 40th I found that if the IMS was done by a Porsche shop, they ALMOST always attached a metal or metallic tag somewhere near the engine stating the serial number and date of IMS install. Mine had the tags and also another tag attached to the invoice showing the serial number, etc. Of course this would not be 100% but could help if you search for a tag somewhere on the car. This is the sprite of trying to help.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Skindoc hi and thanks for the interest.
No luggage. I’m very certain the IMS was done, however, still trying to track down the paperwork hence the reason I didn’t make a mention. We acquired this car approximately 4 years ago from a fanatical and diligent owner and shortly after sold it to the most recent previous owner. We had always asked for an opportunity to require the car should they decide to part with it because it was so nice. They honored the commitment. Hence we now got the car back. It is a stunning example and we invite in person inspections prior to bidding. I will do some more digging on the IMS and report back.

  • NYSport (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago
