Named for the FIA racing class for which it was developed as a homologation car, the original GT3 is commonly regarded among the greatest Porsches of all time.  This 2004 example comes finished in Black over a matching leather interior with upgraded racing-style bucket seats.  The car has also been enhanced with an aftermarket performance exhaust as well as an Ohlins coilover suspension. Showing just over 29k miles on the odometer, this GT3 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of North Carolina.

This 996 comes finished in Black and features GT3-specific front and rear fascia, side skirts, and a fixed rear wing.  Other details include aftermarket quad exhaust tips and factory 18” GT3 wheels fitted with colored Porsche crest center caps and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a black leather interior with an Alcantara headliner and upgraded leather bucket seats featuring Porsche crested headrests.  Optional equipment includes full A/C with automatic climate control and black carpet floor mats with Porsche lettering. Some normal signs of wear are noted on the seating surfaces and the seller reports all instrumentation and accessories to be fully functional.

The naturally aspirated 3.6L Mezger flat-six engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission sending as much as 380 HP and 284 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels.  An aftermarket performance exhaust system has been installed along with upgraded Ohlins coilover suspension. The CARFAX report shows service completed at Porsche St. Paul, Minnesota in 2015 at just over 28k miles and more recent maintenance in 2022 at just over 29k miles including wheel alignment, new brake pads, and battery cable terminal repair.

This sale will include a clean title.

@energyof2 they're great cars. and being the first year these were imported to the US, it really is a great example that set the standard. auction is closing soon, you may have an oppertunity to not let this one get away

  • energyof2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Nice car and for me the one that got away back when they were more affordable. No one mocks fried eggs coming at you fast in your rear view when it's a GT3. GLWA.

  • TLNC18 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Dwjrfish seats are adjustable. they are aftermarket from Porsche. we believe they are the club seats.

  • TLNC18 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@teescott no paint work, no PPF. Below, I disclosed this car was used at a few HPDE Trackdays. unfortunately, owners only wish they PPF'd their car after the damage is done.

  • teescott (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Are all the white spots on the hood and front bumper paint chips? if so, there seem to be a lot of stone chips for a car with this mileage.

  • Dwjrfish (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Are the seats adjustable? 14 way ?
    Any paint work ?

@Skindoc apologies for the delayed reply, we are hosting an event today at our dealership.

I spoke to our lead tech who was in charge of this particular car. Every car we bring in immediately gets thrown onto the lift, evaluated and driven for quality control. Our tech has confirmed that this car appears to have been tracked at a few HPDE days and proper maintenance performed. The coolant lines were pinned prior to us receiving this vehicle and the lines are still in good shape. The seats are aftermarket and we believe they were the club seats ordered directly from Porsche. Unfortunately, we do not have the original seats. Since we acquired this vehicle, we replaced the front and rear strut mounts, tires and upgraded the suspension to Öhlins which dropped the car 20MM. The tires are close to brand new manufactured late of last year. An annual service was also performed. I can provide our internal service records upon request.

I have uploaded the DME report and other photos to PCar's portal. You should see an Update soon.

DME report? Option code list? Paint thickness metering? Are the seats factory original or aftermarket? Do original seats come with sale? Date codes on tires? Receipts for past maintenance? Photos of undercarriage? Have coolant lines been addressed? Manufacturer of aftermarket exhaust and is it full exhaust, or just cat backs? Does original exhaust convey, this may be required in some states, are cats factory or aftermarket? Has this car been tracked/used in HPDE?

    Thank you and GLWA

@rsabeebe yeah, dealer fee is just to help recover costs. sometimes the costs are more, sometimes theyre less. Weve found at that fee rate, the costs usually even out. its easier just to charge a flat dealer fee rather than an itemized expense report with costs associated to the deal.

its also a way dealers use to protect against commission (PAC) to recover costs of the deal.

  • TLNC18 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Robert.FU.Hastings 80% of our business is out of state. We rush ship packages that require wet signatures to and from the customer to get the deal funded as quickly as possible so that we can get the customer their car. we're also hit with misc fees when using an out of state titling and tax service.

  • rsabeebe (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@robert I'd guess most people will simply factor the 'dealer fee' into their bids, just as you do with the auction fees. Most bidders likely consider the 'all in' amount when bidding.

  • Robert.FU.Hastings (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Is pcarmarket the only auction site where dealers charge an additional fee on top of the sale price?
Nice looking car. 996GT3 is my favorite Porsche to drive. $900 fee is a turn-off.

    *Note to Buyer:

We offer full ceramic coatings/ PPF packages and warranty post sale.

  • TLNC18 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@PorscheGeek agreed! The 2004 is also special being the first year the GT3 was imported to the United States!

  • PorscheGeek (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

The 996 GT3 is like a rebirth of the Carrera RS from early 70’s. It’s special and it’s still analog
