Now available for auction is this 2004 Mercedes-Benz S600 presented in Black (040) over a Charcoal Nappa leather interior with burl wood trim.  Representing Mercedes’ flagship luxury sedan, the S-class has become world renowned for its incredible build quality and high-end amenities.  Sitting at the top of the luxury S-Class lineup, this S600 variant offers a tremendous amount of power thanks to its V12 Biturbo powerplant rated over 500 HP.  Accompanied by a clean title and Carfax report as well as original books, this S600 is now being offered by its seller in New York while showing approximately 36k miles on the odometer.

The Black finish on this Mercedes is reported to be in excellent condition looking as it did when it just left the factory in 2004. The seller notes that only a few minor scratches and chips exist (well below normal wear and tear) as outlined in the gallery. Detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the photo gallery.  This S-Class wears its original 18” wheels (just professionally refinished) that are specific to the S600, alerting only true aficionados what lies underneath the hood.  They are currently mounted with a very healthy set of Continental tires.

The interior of this S600 is upholstered in luxurious Charcoal Nappa leather with wood trim throughout the cabin. As standard on the S600, the nappa leather extends to the top of the door panels as well as the full dashboard.  A full Alcantara headliner, genuine wood grab handles, and wood rear vanity mirrors are all welcome enhancements to the already luxurious interior of the standard W220 S-Class. Factory features include a sunroof, automatic climate control, navigation, Mercedes-Benz door sill plates, and power-operated dynamic seats with massage and front-seat ventilation.  Power and heated rear seats with side-window shades let the passengers know that they are riding in a top-of-the-line, world-class automobile.  The seller reports a slight discoloration on the radio screen (see pics).  Aside from this, all gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.  The seller also notes the cabin to be in exceptional condition which can be seen in the photo gallery.

Unlike its flashier cousin, the S55, the S600 is more of a silent but deadly killer.  With 4 more cylinders, more horsepower, and torque, the S600 is truly a wolf in sheep's clothing.  The factory claimed outputs of 510hp and 612lb-ft of torque launch this car with brute force to triple-digit speeds which is probably why Pagani uses a version of this powerplant in their hypercars. Under normal driving, this has been said to be one of the quietest and refined sedans ever produced.  The seller notes that the car starts, runs, drives and shifts as it should with no items needing to be addressed.  In addition to the maintenance records shown on CARFAX, a full oil and filter service was just carried out in preparation for the sale.

The sale will include 1 factory key, owner’s books, a clean title.   A truly amazing value, do not miss your chance to own this S600 V12 at a small fraction of its once $140k + MSRP.

Can you imagine this car was about $140,000 when new!
36k miles later...... is it really worth under $20k!

Hi everyone, thank you for the bids and interest so far. I did a cold start and drive this morning, PCAR already added the video. I will mention that I noticed the typical very slight cracking on the 11:00 position of the steering wheel that is almost invisible but can be noticed to the touch. Just trying to be as accurate as possible.

Overall, this is a gorgeous 600 and I think the next owner will be very, very happy. I am here to address any questions that may come up. Keep those bids coming!

@phowley Hi. The records on the Carfax are all I have and was to my satisfaction prior to my purchase. I had the car plugged in by my mechanic who found everything to be on the up and up. . In my opinion, the mileage is too low to worry about coil packs and obviously there would be no reason to replace them until the time comes. The ABC fluid appears to have been replaced at some point since it is clear and greenish.

To my knowledge, there are no issues needing to be addressed at this time. I would rate this as a turn-key car that only for piece of mind you could start replacing/changing things. Inspections welcome prior to bidding!

  • phowley (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

to replace the coil packs when they fail, and you must do both banks not just one, is a gross understatement.

It's painfully obvious you never had to replace them.
The coils and ABC are items that should be checked and noted during a service for any issues.

Excellent, low mileage 140/220 600 cars are becoming more difficult to find and gaining attention/appreciation from the MB enthusiast community. Also the low mileage cars are the ones to own/drive as the can give the intended driving experience of when they were new - which is unlike anything else (unless you are lucky to buy a higher mileage one which has been in the right hands and everything has been done to it). I sold mine with 28k miles and I miss it.

On the coil packs and voltage transformers - they are not items that would be serviced or replaced as pm - when they fail they get replaced and it is not a big deal.

  • phowley (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

What about the window sticker and any maintenance records that either you or the original owner have would be nice to see.
The car fax alone does not show any items like the ABC and coil packs being serviced.
    Thanks.

Another beauty. I just don’t understand how or why someone would buy an S600 sedan and allow it to sit. It’s not a weekend GT cruiser. It’s a daily beast! Oh how badly I wanted this car 16 years ago. Good luck seller.

  • 11JM (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@phowley hello. The original owner whom I purchased the car from (technically since I didn’t title it, it is still a one owner) had multiple vehicles and barely used the car. After sitting for some time, in 2013 you can see it was taken to MB for a comprehensive service at which point he then started to regularly drive it. I welcome in person inspections as the car is tip top and completely OEM. Thank you for your interest.

  • PCARMARKET 3 years, 9 monthsago

@phowley thank you for pointing that out. We will have them added to the listing by tomorrow. Thank you.

  • phowley (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

    Car fax ends on 7-18.
Since than to the present time, the car has not seen much use based on the current mileage.
Was it stored and what's been done to it during the past 2 plus years.
    Thanks.

  • phowley (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

It says there are paint meter readings in the gallery.
    Don't see any listed.

  • 11JM (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@manuals4ever go for it! You won’t be disappointed. They aren’t going to make the V12 any more, there is nothing like it.

Very good looking and well preserved W220.
For me living in NH, these early S600's without 4matic just don't make sense. Although, I really want one!
    GLWTA!
