The Honda RC51, or RVT1000R as it was sold in the United States, was the premier sport bike used by Honda’s racing teams in the Superbike World Championship during the early 2000s powered by a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 999cc DOHC V-Twin engine. A special edition of the RC51 was offered for the 2004 model year in commemoration of Nicky Hayden’s 2002 AMA Superbike championship victory, featuring a brushed aluminum frame and swing arm complemented by a replica racing livery. This particular example was purchased by the current owner in 2022 and highlights several tasteful modifications including gold accents, stainless-steel brake lines, wave-style rotors, a 520 X-ring chain conversion, and a tinted double-bubble windscreen. This highly collectible sport bike is now being offered for auction out of Kansas with approximately 17k miles on the odometer.
The Nicky Hayden Edition features red and silver bodywork with black and white accents and is distinguishable by its brushed aluminum twin-spar frame and race-replica sticker package. This example has been customized with gold bar ends, footpegs, and rear spools as well as a tinted double-bubble windscreen. New fairings have been installed and painted to factory specifications, and the original fairings are included in the sale. The cast-alloy 17” wheels have been refinished in gold and are dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The seller describes the bike to be in very good cosmetic condition with only very slight imperfections.
The rider is positioned ahead of clip-on handlebars and a digital instrument panel with a bar-style 10k-rpm tachometer. The fuel tank features a commemorative graphic with Nicky Hayden’s signature and the AMA U.S. Superbike Championship logo.
Rated at 136 HP, the liquid-cooled 999cc DOH V-Twin engine features dual 62mm throttle bodies, dual fuel injectors per cylinder, a digital ignition module, and side-mounted radiators. The chain-driven rear wheel is spun through a 6-speed manual transmission. The frame includes an adjustable Showa suspension with a 43mm inverted cartridge fork and a rear piggyback reservoir shock. Stopping power comes from gold Nissin brake calipers paired with new wave-style rotors front and rear. New Galfer stainless-steel brake lines have also been installed along with 520 X-ring chain conversion and new 15/42 sprockets. The seller adds that the fuel tank has never been welded or repaired and nearly all of the factory hardware on the brakes, rear axle, and sprocket carrier have been replaced with either titanium, aluminum, or stainless steel.
This sale will include a toolkit, the original fairings, axle stands, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for looking at my auction. This is a beautiful example of the Nicky Hayden RC51. Took several months to track down and source original parts to bring her back to her near-original glory. As a Nicky Hayden fan, this was my dream bike. She is exhilarating to ride and pulls incredibly hard. It pains me to sell her but with my arthritis, I just can’t hold onto her anymore.”

@Minkster I do not have the original exhaust.
Do you have the original twin muffler exhaust?
@motofabio she is incredibly torquey and launches hard especially with the 15/42 set up. The V-Twin rumble sounds even better with the Jardine straight through race exhaust. These will only go up in value due to the untimely passing of Nicky.
You haven't lived until you've stood 15 feet behind an RC51 and felt the exhaust air thumps on your face. Also, in case anyone is wondering, this is a wheelie MACHINE. 17K on the clock is nothing for these. Plus a NH edition... RIP.

@CarNutinMiami there is a cold start video in the auction and she runs super strong. I don’t know of the maintenance history.
What a beauty does the bike run and drive with no problems? Cold start ok? All maintenance up to date?
