Representing one of the most highly acclaimed BMWs of all time, this 2004 E46 M3 Coupe is said to be one of only two specified with an Individual Estoril Blue Metallic exterior over Individual Estoril Blue and Black Nappa leather upholstery. It features a 6-speed manual transmission conversion and several upgrades, including 18” Volk Racing wheels, JRZ RS Pro coilovers, Hotchkis adjustable sway bars, solid aluminum subframe mounts, a Brembo GT Big Brake kit, stainless steel brake lines, and an extremely rare Dixis full titanium exhaust. This rare and meticulously maintained M3 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania with less than 67k miles showing on the odometer.

This example is finished in Estoril Blue Metallic, selected from BMW’s Individual Program, and is said to be one of just 81 E46 M3s specified in this color for the U.S. market. Features include xenon headlights, integrated front fog lights, a moonroof, front fender vents, and dual exhaust outlets. Modifications consist of a CSL trunk, Euro-spec front bumper, gloss black kidney grilles and side vents, and square-setup 18” Volk Racing TE37SL wheels in Pressed Graphite with center caps and new Kumho tires. The seller notes that a paint correction has been completed, and the car is protected with a Modesta coating, XPEL paint protection film along the front end and rocker panels, and clear ceramic window tint. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Individual Estoril Blue and Black Nappa leather upholstery with M-specific factory details, an optional rear sunshade, and rarely-seen manually operated seats allowing for additional headroom. Coordinating upholstery follows the shift boot, emergency brake boot, and steering wheel. Modifications include a custom flat-bottom steering wheel with a BMW Estoril Blue 12 o’clock stripe, custom blue-face gauges, an Alcantara headliner, and a Homelink system. Additional enhancements include pedal replacements, a Euro-specification tray, a custom cup holder, a refreshed factory radio, a titanium shift knob, and an auxiliary input (3.5mm jack). Hardwiring for a Valentine One radar detector and coding for additional features have also been performed. The seller states the only issue noticed is the rear ashtray lid is currently inoperable, although a replacement will be shipped to the buyer.

This E46 is powered by a venerable S54 3.2L inline 6-cylinder engine with double-VANOS variable valve timing, six individual throttle bodies, and an output of up to 333 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that an extremely rare Dixis full titanium exhaust is equipped and attests to the engine's health with several checks performed by Blackstone. Service items and upgrades include the following:

Engine:

  • Clean and healthy motor with Blackstone oil analysis
  • Full Vanos rebuild/reseal/bulletproofing using Beisan Systems and OE parts
  • All gaskets, seals, washers, grommets, and o-rings replaced, including the upper chain guide and cam bolts

  • New belts, idler pulleys, spark plugs, cabin microfilter, air filter, and MAF cleaning

@GT4Driver Only the exhaust is the dixis exhaust. All the rest is stock. I tried to find videos online, which you can see they have it with the dixis exhaust for this model. But, they are louder since they also did other modifications besides the exhaust. It is louder than stock, but not much louder. I personally think it is the best sounding exhaust for this car. I had the solid design full titanium prior, but that was too loud with drone. No drone with this.

  • GT4Driver (registered bidder) 4 hours, 56 minutesago

@Scottfinkel does this exhaust have a cat. converter? Couldn’t tell from photos. Thanks in advance.

  • Scottfinkel (seller) 5 hours, 55 minutesago

@zuff 1. Yes. It is tightened up and the car drives like it is on rails. 2. Yes, adjustable. 3. Yes, as listed in ad. 4. It is more 4. This car was bulletproofed by the previous owner, kaiv. He can chime in if needed. He is a specialist for this make of car. He relayed: It’s more mileage dependent so not an urgent thing at your mileage.

I've had 2 e46 M3 coupes, and my last one was a 2004 6MT slicktop with manual seats like this one, except silver and unmodified. Perfect setup for a tall guy like me. The seats are very comfortable and the manual adjustments are great, though are a bit wide between bolsters if you're on the skinny side.

I sold my M3 with 150k miles and it ran like a top, but is a high-performance BMW sports car so it required regular service. For reference, I put about $24k into it over the 5 years/50k miles I owned it and kept it stock (except the rear subframe reinforcement; used Turner like this one).

My only complaint was the somewhat numb steering feel (compared to my Porsches).

    @seller, a few questions:
    1) any comment on whether the suspension work has tightened up the steering feel over stock?
    2) is the suspension heigh adjustable?
    3) any Vanos work?
    4) original rod bearings? These should be the improved ones and the originals should be ok but some people replace them.

Hey guys! Previous owner here. To clarify on track time, the car has been to Buttonwillow and Chuckwalla a handful of times to dial in the suspension. No hood vents, splitters, wings or any additional body parts have ever been installed or removed. No buckets seats or roll bar either; and the grippiest tire the car has seen is a 200TW street tire. Or maybe an NT01. FWIW all my cars are tracked but driven with mechanical empathy and fanatically maintained. Not to toot my horn but their next owner are always very satisfied :) As for the RACP ("subframe"), IIRC I did the both the structural foam injection (per BMW TIS) and weld-in reinforcement plates.

@hoenignd The photographer did take them but for some reason they didn't upload them. Let me ask for them, but it wasn't under much load. It is the dixis exhaust. It is louder than stock but not horribly loud. You can keep the radio at normal volume. No drone that I ever experienced.

  • hoenignd (registered bidder) 1 day, 4 hoursago

Do you have any exhaust sound clips, including under load? Rasp is typically prevalent on these things so I'm curious what this one sounds like. Sending DM for the build journal too!

Car was also detailed. Photographer wanted the pics in the field. He was the one dirtying up the mats with debris. 🤣

  • Scottfinkel (seller) 2 days, 9 hoursago

As mentioned in a dm. I am a perfectionist. I welcome anyone to see the car and have a ppi. The car shows near showroom new. When detailed, a paint meter was used. All normal on the panels. The only aftermarket paint is to paint the real oem csl trunk and the oem euro front bumper. Car was paint corrected. Entire front has ppf. Then modesta micron coating on all of it. I have an air system to dry the car, it never even needs a towel to dry it. Showing how anal I am with it, when I had it inspected a few weeks ago, I saw one of the valve caps were missing. I bought new ones , so I now have three spares. They are the real ray's valve caps at a cost of $30 for them. The only known item I saw before the photoshoot was the rear ashtray lid seems to not slide well. I will drop ship a replacement to the new owner. This way I know that they have a turn key car that needs absolutely nothing.

Lastly, take note the modifications on the car. Nothing is a replica from the trunk to the bumper. No chipmunk cheeks for the front. Everything fits the way it should. The dixis exhaust is the holy grail for this car. Less than 20 ever made. No drone. Looks like artwork. And the last I looked, if you could even find one, they were 6k+. I would have been more profitable piecing out the car with the modifications, but I didn't want to take apart perfection.

@subere the subframes can be an issue if you're not proactive. For this car, it had two choices. The plates or the foam reinforcement. The previous owner actually did both. So the subframe is beyond solid.

  • subere (registered bidder) 2 days, 10 hoursago

Can you explain the structural foam reinforcement?

@floman Thank you sir. I am 5'9". But it has a ton of headroom above. The one thing I contemplated for this car was putting the carbon roof on. But ultimately felt it could potentially ruin the car. If you are on the east coast, come on over and try it. I have heard that the manual seats give a few more inches of headroom.

  • floman (registered bidder) 3 days, 3 hoursago

@Scottfinkel, absolutely gorgeous. Wow. I noticed your comments re: the manual seats allowing for more headroom. As a taller driver (6'3', 230#), legroom/headroom is a persistent issue, especially on these very cool, smaller coupes. Would you mind commenting on the room in these 3 series cars. Thanks, and good luck.

I do have the journal for the build from Kaiv. Kaiv, when you come on, if you want it, lmk. I can email it to you for the memories. If anyone is interested with the build, DM me your email. It does take about 12 emails due to the pdf file size.

    Stats on the combination:
2001-2006 BMW M3 Coupe (BL93) - NA painted in Estoril Blue Metallic
    (335) with Special Upholstery (Z1XX) interior were built for the US market.
None were built for the Canadian market.
Out of those 4 Estorils, another car has an identical interior as the PN58640
car. The other two cars got Dark Estoril interior, but they are slightly different.
The most rare option in this car is the option S415A - Sun-blind, rear. It was
installed on 1,087 out of 26,202 cars.

    @Slowin_Fastout Thank you sir.

  • Slowin_Fastout (registered bidder) 3 days, 8 hoursago

One of the best M3’s ever made in the perfect color. Interior is just a bonus. GLWS!

  • Scottfinkel (seller) 3 days, 13 hoursago

@250gt BTW, I reached out to the original owner to chime in. He only owned the car for about 6 months to sort it out. It was only tracked a few times.

  • Scottfinkel (seller) 3 days, 21 hoursago

@250gt The only owner that tracked it some was the previous owner, kaiv. Before that, it was a garage queen. Kaiv is a known specialist for this car, with people throughput the country sending their m3's to him for repairs. This was his personal car. Kaiv heavily sorted the car during his ownership, with a very heavy detailed journal, which I have. This is the reason I bought the car, since he mechanically sorted the car. I was the one who replaced the oem trunk with a real oem csl trunk and oem euro bumper. I can get Kaiv to chime in on this ad. In my ownership, it was an art piece that I drove about 1000 miles a year that I heavily maintained. Blackstone was done often, about 1000 miles ago. It can be redone to show the health. Last it was ran, it showed extremely healthy.

  • 250gt 4 daysago

    Hello,

How much track time do you have on this car? Also, are you aware of any previous owners of this car tracking the car? If so, have any parts such as rear wings/hood vents/etc. been fitted and removed? You have excellent mods added on the car which leads me to believe that this car has quite a bit of track time. Also, are there any other parts included in the sale? Lastly, when was the Blackstone oil analysis done? If there are any documents relevant to maintenance of the car, please upload those as well.

    Thank you

I fully stand behind this car and welcome a PPI or your mechanic to swing by. This car is mechanically and cosmetically amazing. As mentioned in the ad, the only thing I noticed while washing it for the photoshoot is the rear ashtray lid is operable but not perfect. I can drop ship a new one to the buyer. I am a perfectionist and that is the only known issue both cosmetically. Mechanically, nothing is known and the car it was just inspected.

  • Scottfinkel (seller) 4 days, 10 hoursago

@GRATR15 I spoke with the previous owner. Rod bearings are more mileage dependent so at this miles, it is not an urgent thing at where the miles are on this car. The vanos was done and the subframe was double done with plates and the foam.

  • Scottfinkel (seller) 4 days, 14 hoursago

@GRATR15 I will confirm today of the rod bearings. I have the photos and receipts of the sub frame and vanos. I have the journal from the previous owner, which was Kaiv. He is a renowned m3 specialist, and this was his personal vehicle. The journal is extremely detailed with all the pics. It is a 12 page journal with almost 600 posts. I just don't have a way to upload with ease.

  • GRATR15 (registered bidder) 4 days, 15 hoursago

Has the car had the rod bearings done? Do you have photos & receipts for the vanos & sub-frame work that you can post?

  • Scottfinkel (seller) 4 days, 15 hoursago

@Firewood Hello firewood. Unfortunately no. Thank you for the compliment.
