Offered as the high-performance variation of BMW’s E46 3-series, this M3 Convertible combines impressive performance abilities, timeless BMW design, and an exhilarating open-air driving experience. Featuring a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its venerable 3.2-liter S54 inline-six, this 2004 example comes finished in Black over matching Nappa leather and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing less than 73k miles on the odometer.
This M3 comes finished in Black with a matching power-retractable soft top which can be raised or lowered in approximately 20 seconds. Compared to the standard 3-Series, the M3 sports wider fender flares, side air vents, and a revised front bumper, mirrors, and rear valence. It rides on 19” Style 67 M forged wheels which are manufactured by Fuchs and currently dressed in front Michelin Pilot Sport AS tires from 2018 and rear Falken Pro G5 Sport tires from 2022. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is upholstered with black leather upholstery and features deeply bolstered power-adjustable Sport Seats along with matching door panels and carpeting. M-specific details also include a thicker M-Sport leather steering wheel with contrasting stitching and an M-branded gauge cluster with special warm-up lights unique to the S54 engine. Additional factory features include automatic climate control, cruise control, and a Harman Kardon sound system. The seller notes the bolster stitching is loose, said to be common to this model, and the fuel gauge fails to read past the ¼ tank mark. All other gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
The E46 M3 is powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six with individual throttle bodies, quasi-dry sump lubrication, and Double VANOS variable valve timing. Up to 330 HP and 269 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller adds that the fuel filter and pump were replaced in 2021 approximately 5k miles ago, and the differential seals were replaced at 69k miles in May 2023. Service items carried out approximately 500 miles ago are said to include replacing the coolant temp sensor, thermostat, and tensioner belt while new brakes and rotors were installed approximately 200 miles ago. The seller states a host of service documentation will accompany the sale, and this example was previously purchased as a certified pre-owned vehicle.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and some service documentation.
The seller would like you to know: “Thanks for visiting my auction! E46 M3 6-speed was my dream car in college. We were poor and never were able to afford one. Once I saw this one, I knew I had to have it. It brought great joy. The car runs great. Garage kept. Many maintenance and upkeep done. Love to keep the car but I have no room with the new car coming in. It is CARFAX clean with ZERO accidents. The top is unfaded and works awesome. The center console was replaced along with a cup holder and coin tray so looks new. Leather is what you'll really be impressed with. Looks awesome with very minimal wear. The stereo looks and works great. I like my cars all original, so no upgrades were done anywhere with aftermarket stuff other than an added aux for the phone but even that is a genuine BMW part. You won't regret taking home this "triple black" 6 Speed E46 M3 with only 72,500 miles on it. But if you're looking at this car, I'm preaching to the choir. Let me know with any questions in the comment section and I’ll answer everything quickly and transparently.”
