Up for auction is this 2003 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet 6-Speed finished in Seal Gray Metallic over a black leather interior.  Boasting a recently rebuilt 3.6-liter flat-six engine along with an IMS bearing upgrade, this example is ready to be driven and enjoyed by a new owner.  It is now being offered by its seller out of Florida showing 77k miles on the odometer.

The Seal Grey Metallic finish on this Carrera is said to be in very nice overall condition with minimal wear showing.  Detailed images are available in the photo gallery.  A few key exterior design features of this 996 include a color-matched hardtop, stainless steel exhaust pipes and factory flared rocker panels.  The optional 18” light alloy Carrera wheels also show to be in great condition and come wrapped in an older set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

The cabin of this Carrera features an all original black supple leather interior that is also reported to be in great condition.  Every piece of switch gear is said to operate as it should.  The convertible top is fully functional and there are a handful of additional options on this 996’s $97k build sheet, including:

  • Aluminum instrument dials
  • Power seat package
  • Xenon headlight package
  • Bose High end sound system
  • Heated seats

Power comes from a freshly rebuilt 3.6L flat-six engine that is capable of sending 320HP to the rear wheels by way of a desirable 6-speed manual transmission that features a new clutch kit.  The original owner experienced a recent IMS bearing failure which lead Vertex Auto to perform a complete and comprehensive engine out rebuild with the addition of an IMS bearing replacement.   The result is a powerful as-new engine that is backed by a 1-year warranty.  With only test miles driven since, this Carrera is said to be in excellent running condition.  Additional performance features include upgraded Brembo brake calipers along with a full Fabspeed exhaust system.

Included in the sale of this 996 are two keys, books, extensive service records totaling over $23k not including the engine rebuild, a spare tire, factory tools, factory wind deflector and original window sticker.

Just 3 hours left for this auction. I just posted a few new pictures.
    1. Pics of the engine from the underside.
    2. Factory books, original window sticker, 2 keys, original maintenance book, service records.
    3. Additional interior shots. (Close up of dash and rear seats)

If you are in the market for a 996 C4 Cab, this is the one to have. It really checks all the boxes. Original paint, great maintainable records, IMS upgrade, new engine rebuild with warranty, and super clean in and out. This is a near flawless example! Good luck to all and feel free to keep the questions coming.

@VertexAuto Thanks is it possible to post the invoice for the rebuild ?

  • VertexAuto (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@smr68 Yes, that car has a new clutch.

  • smr68 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

When the engine was pulled for the rebuild was the clutch replaced?

I own this exact car (2003 C4 Cab) with hardtop purchased with 26k miles (currently 31k). It is by far the best 911 I have owned of 4. Loads of power and creature comforts. C4 rides on rails. Hardtop is cool but soft top is far better (quiet and air tight). It’s easily worth twice the current bid. New engine sounds great in video. These cars are VERY reliable when properly cared for.
    Good luck.

@collectorcars @collectorcarschicago It was probably leaking oil at that time. Noted in this listing is that we just performed a complete engine rebuild. This is a $16,000 + job that comes with a 1 year warranty. It's definitely not leaking oil now. More information on our 996 engine rebuild process can be found here. https://www.vertexauto.com/porsche-996-996-c4s-rebuilt-engine-36-l-years-02-04-p-12049.aspx?keyword=rebuilt%20engine

@seller curious as to why engine was checked for an oil leak twice in the past two services is the car leaking oil currently?

  • VertexAuto (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Mercyhealth Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I have provided Pcar Market with pics of the paint meter readings throughout the car. I will take more interior shorts today as you suggested. I will also provide some of the major service documents we have and the original window sticker. Thanks again.

This car looks great but really need to see more pictures. The interior shots need to include back seats, close ups of the dash and cabin compartments, along with door sills and jams. Also under carriage pics are a must. Finally all four tires with date codes and tread depth are helpful. Paint depth readings help especially since this vehicle has had several previous owners. With abundant proper photos this 996 will shine. Good luck with your auction.

Thank you all for viewing. As mentioned in the listing, this 996 C4 Cab has just received a fully rebuilt engine by us that comes with a 1 year warranty and documentation. The engine is the original matching numbers engine which was fitted with a EPS Eternal IMS Bearing. This is an extremely clean 996, both inside and out. It's an original paint car with a ton of service history. Everything on the car functions as intended. Convertible top goes up and down flawlessly, ice cold AC, original factory radio, all electronics, etc. Feel free to ask us any questions or for any addition pictures. Test drives and PPI are welcomed. Good luck!
