This 2003 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe is finished in Seal Grey Metallic over a Black full-leather interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission, optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Sport Seats, and the exclusive Aluminum/Chrome Package. The seller purchased it in 2022 after an insurance company deemed it a total loss and subsequently treated it to professional body repairs and new paint. As previously listed on PCARMARKET, this 996 is being offered for auction out of Pennsylvania while showing approximately 52k miles on the odometer.
This 996 is finished in Seal Grey Metallic and features Turbo-specific bodywork with wide fenders, rear side air intakes, unique bumpers, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. Other equipment includes xenon headlights, fog lights, an electric sunroof, heated power mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, a rear window wiper, yellow brake calipers, and aftermarket 19” wheels dressed in new Hankook Ventus tires. The CARFAX report shows damage in 2021 resulting in a total loss declaration by an insurance company and a salvage title from California. Upon the seller’s purchase, the car was fully disassembled and fitted with a new center roof skin, right roof inner support, and right door before being refinished in its original color. The seller adds that all the repair work has been documented and photos of the repair process are provided in the gallery.
The Black full leather interior includes optional power-operated Sport Seats and the exclusive Aluminum/Chrome Package which adds stainless-steel door sills, aluminum-look instrument dials, and aluminum trim for the shifter and brake handle. Other accessories include a leather three-spoke steering wheel, an Alcantara headliner, power windows, automatic climate control, cruise control, a remote central locking system, a Bose sound system, and a Porsche CDR23 stereo. The seller notes a cup holder tab is broken and all electronics and accessories are working properly.
Derived from the Le Mans-winning GT1 race car, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine delivers up to 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Stopping power comes from optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). All known service history is provided on the CARFAX report.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a salvage/rebuilt Pennsylvania title.

@ Rundeep32 read last comment I made a typo on your user name.
@rundeep32i fully disclosed everything. The chip I informed Dominic at Pcar about when I saw it went live. My RESERVE reflects a lower price to allow for to be generous a 1k drop. Or I will in the spirt of selling it and hoping you understand I will have a glass guy we use install a new windshield for free to the new buyer. To be clear: reserve is 1k less than I wanted, and I will have a new glass put in for the new buyer free of charge.

@luis.seneriz no chip is as taken in photo. Car of course is inside my heated garage. Thank you for your continued bidding and inquiry.
Bid in the amount of $28,911
@993tts30. Did the chip in the windshield got filled? Thanks.
@993tts30 hi, I am new to this auction stuff, but when the question is asked about the windshield being broken, and then you say that the car is priced to reflect the damaged windshield, I'm confused as the damaged windshield disclosure was only volunteered when it was uncovered by a fellow member of this fine site a so for people that bid prior to this discovery, how were they able to bid "with the chip factored in"?
Bid in the amount of $28,161
@autotrend the stone chip happened after it was submitted. If it’s an issue you can replace it yourself of course, We all have had rocks kick up and chip one. It’s priced with the chip factored in.
it is a shame that with all the repairs done to repair and repaint this car the buyer has to inherit it with a broken windshield. not a good look when there can be other things not seen in this format that may be overlooked. inmho i would have changed the windshield before the auction. just keeping it real.
@spoilinyc sane seats. Same dash. Dash has typical 911 leather disease. If you look at 996 and 997 and cayennes with leather dash you will always see that the Sun lifts the adhesives by windshield and shrinks it. Maybe lighting on seats affects what you see but same seats. I think they are very nice, don’t forget 21 year old leather will show wear and creases.
What is going on with the interior? Why are the leather seats so worn out? They looked better during the collision photos. Dashboard leather also appears worn or water damaged. Please clarify.
Guys today’s the last day of bidding, thank you for your comments and bids. I will be around most of the day to answer any questions you may have except whether it’s immoral to take some profit from Palantir Tesla and Bitcoin you made and get into a turbo 996 for yourself!
@future likely to vary depending on location but I just put one in my daily 14 cayenne turbo S with parking and rain sensors 760 and was quoted 600 for a new one for a 2011 997 turbo as we are repairing now.
What’s the approximate cost of that glass repair?
@Autotrend it’s sold as you see it. I am happy to get a new glass at buyers expense.
Bid in the amount of $27,911
so, in response to the question on photo #261. are you planning on replacing the windshield, or is that something for the buyer to replace?
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@Mchlizzo I do not have a way to measure the rotors. They appear fine I have driven the turbo plenty of times and experienced zero brake issues. Dme report photos I will post.
Good afternoon,
Did the Carbon rotors get damaged in result of the accident? Possible pics of the rotors and thickness? Also do you have a DME report?
Thanks
Bid in the amount of $26,996
@Patrick3000 airbags did NOT deploy. No airbag light is on. Boxster door shell was used as it’s the same but glass is from the turbo coupe. Door repainted all bare during respray and was put back together with its original parts and door trim. Key remote locks/unlocks fine.
@993tts30
Can you provide details on the airbags? Did they deploy in the accident? What is their current state of readiness? Any issues with the replacement door? Appears to be from a Boxster, not necessarily a bad thing.
Thank you 🙏
@G964 I have them on my daily driver turbo S cayenne and love the quite and ride. I see no difference on this turbo unless you track. But then if you buy this one you can get your own tires. These were brand new and resell them.
Hankook is one of the OEM tires options for the Audi RS5. Not saying they would be my choice but that should tell you they are not as bad as you may think.
@jazzyg72 we have repaired hundreds of damaged 911 over the last 47 years. We are the longest established strictly 911 air cooled used 911 parts dealers in USA.
@sportscarguy3 I would ask calif dmv as I don’t know what it is considered by them. Note it was in Calif so maybe they have a few different kinds of inspection requirements. Or none due to it’s over 20 years old. Regarding transport the prices vary depending on enclosed vs open I will refer you to a broker I have used for many years as I can’t estimate it other than guess about 1800
Just wondering about the title I understand what you have said about the title in Pennsylvania
I suppose my question is what would the title be considered in California?
Would it be considered a salvaged title?
Also any thoughts or estimate on enclosed shipping to Santa Rosa, CA 95407
@993tts30 I was about to ask you for some more info on your connection to Porsche. and your experience with repairing salvage vehicles. Because as we all know they are quite the unique special beasts that require someone that really knows there way around these cars inside and out. Then I read the entire "The seller would like you to know" word for word and got all of the clarification I need on your qualifications to take on a project like this! GLWA
@Patrick3000 I am sorry to report after the listing went live the photo shows a rock came off a truck while I was enjoying the beautiful pre winter weather….and hit the windshield. It’s likely going to need one it hasn’t spread. I am trying to get a glass guy to look at it perhaps they can fill it but likely it’s going to need a replacement.
@993tts30 Picture #261, what are we looking at? Please provide as much detail as possible.
Thank you

A comment about the tires. On my 03 highly modified turbo and also on my 3/98 coupe I had Michelin tires. I’m an engineer so I like to test stuff. After a lot of research on both cars I went with Sumitomos HTRZs, my conclusion for half or less money than Michelins more than 90 percent of the performance and better durability. So on the 99 I changed wheels and from the 18 inch 408s factory turbo hollows I went with 17 inch wheels to reduce rotational mass. On the front I went from 225s to 205s, on the back I went from 285s to 255s. The tires I choose the Hankooks. Same as what this car has. On the track and on super fast drives thru country roads the Hankooks are great. I really push my cars to the limits and these tires are great. Making sure that the wheels are forced balance and having the correct air pressures are a must, but these tires are worthwhile, are they cheaper yes. What I was testing with the 17 inch tires was straight line acceleration due to a lot less weight and yes that worked out great too. It was a pleasant surprise that these Hankooks perform as well as they do on wet and dry surfaces. If you like Michelins just keep that in mind and figure the cost of new tires when thinking about this car. Wish everyone a great day.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. They are the best tires I have ever used.
@oldsouth Have you ever driven a 996 with those tires? I have. And they are surprisingly impressive on both wet and dry roads. I have almost 40k miles use and definitely would buy them again. What tires do you have on yours?
@Spewald I did not try to reach the dealer in California who appears from the carfax to have regularly serviced it. Perhaps they will share exact service records. Some in my 47 years of experience in dealing exclusively in Porsche do but others wont anymore sadly it’s over privacy laws.
@Spewald sorry typo before but clutch does NOT slip. Thank you for the bid of confidence.
When cutting corners on tires, I wonder what corners were cut on the big repair....
Bid in the amount of $12,996
@Spewald clutch feels fine no throw out bearing noise. Does t slip. Engages fine. Check the driving video. Ims doesn’t apply it’s a METGER!!!!! The best!!
@oldsouth yes really brand new!!!
Hankook tires?? Really?....
no ims issues on a mezger motor
Super nice work on the repairs. I am quite interested. Couple of maintenance items - status of clutch and IMS. Do you know if and when either were serviced or replaced?
@Autotrend actually getting a loan is not an issue. We have sold hundreds of damaged 911 and never had a loan turned down. Perhaps you are referring to subprime lenders or as crashes not fully repaired cars. By insurance comparison I not only have a gt3rs fully repaired prior salvage insured for stated full retail value but it includes an America Roadster and a 993 turbo in my personal collection.
i commend the seller for being as upfront as he is. that was a massive repair. looks good. the problem with a accident salvage title is that you cannot get a loan on the car and if it ever has another medium to big incident the insurance companies will only pay out on diminished value because of the title history. i am a dealer for 43 years and i have crossed this bridge many times before. i just have to bid extremely accordingly. i am not bagging the car, but some people are unaware of the realities of banks and insurance companies.
@joebatters everything works fine we aligned it a year plus ago in-house, I don’t have any record of it it however it had no visible suspension damage.
Does everything work as designed? Sunroof, windows, door locks, power seats, power windows, stereo etc,
Do you have alignment specs from after the repairs?
@luis.seneriz this 996 turbo has no known modifications.
@luis.seneriz the title brand is “R” designated as repaired by the state of Pa. Means it went through Pennsylvania Enhanced Salvage Repair inspection by licensed Pa inspection mechanic who not only goes regular state annual inspection but the specialized one for cars which have been rebuilt.
Never mind I saw it has a salvage rebuild Pennsylvania tittle. I own a triple black 03 that’s highly modified. If you check my history you’ll see I bought that car here in April 2022.
Bid in the amount of $9,962
Does the current tittle reads salvage, rebranded or what? I like the color and the carbon ceramic brakes. The seats are pretty nice also. Thanks.
Welcome to the Metzger turbo auction! I will be happy to answer any questions, feel fee to come see it in person, it’s been a fun shop project for us which I got to drive and enjoy for a while.
