The first 911 Turbo of the new millennium, the 996 Turbo features wide model-specific bodywork along with a water-cooled 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine sending power to all four wheels. This 2003 example came factory equipped with the sought-after X50 Turbo Powerkit, which upgrades the 3.6-liter Mezger engine with larger turbochargers, intercoolers, and revised tuning. With an original sticker price over $149k, this Turbo came finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a Brown natural leather interior and equipped with the Leather Interior Package, the Park Assist System, heated front seats, a 6-speed manual transmission, and exclusive aluminum trim pieces. This example was sold new in Boston, Massachusetts, and is believed to have been previously owned by American racecar driver Dick Barbour. Previously listed on PCARMARKET, it is now being offered for auction out of Texas showing approximately 21k miles on the odometer.
This example comes finished in Basalt Black Metallic and rides on painted 18” Turbo wheels with colored Porsche-crested center caps and Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2022. The Turbo-specific bodywork includes wide fenders with rear side air intakes, flared rocker panels, bumpers with additional air vents, and a rear spoiler with a speed-activated wing. The seller notes that the car was refinished by a Concours-level painter due to a vinyl wrap that caused damage to the paint upon removal. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is upholstered in Brown Natural Leather and features the Leather Interior Package, heated front seats, Porsche-crested headrests, a leather steering wheel, and a leather rear center console. Additional options include a 6-disc CD changer, aluminum instrument dials, aluminum and leather shifter and handbrake trim, black floor mats with Porsche lettering, the Parking Assist System, and Porsche Communication Management II (PCM 2.0). All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be working properly with no warning lights reported.
Equipped with the optional X50 Turbo Powerkit, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six Mezger engine produces up to 444 HP and 457 lb.-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds. The seller states a secondary air injection system valve was replaced under previous ownership, an aftermarket exhaust has been installed, and an aftermarket flash tune is believed to have been installed although no supporting documentation is available. No outstanding maintenance items have been noted.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and a toolkit.
The seller would like you to know: “I believe the car was bought by Dick Barbour in the northeast. He owned and personally drove the car for a number of years. The car was sold to someone who didn't own it very long and sold it to my seller. My seller sold because of health issues. I had the car completely gone through by a reputable Porsche shop when I bought it. Fresh oil change, tires, all fluids, the works. Great daily driver. This car is a lot of fun to own and drive. These 996 turbos have a lot of raw power. This car feels more analog than my 997 turbo's. And the color combo is killer.”

Congrats!! Give me a shout when you’re free.
I thought the repaint would’ve held it back, but definitely a very strong price.

I’m going to add my two cents for any perspective buyers. I think this is really cool going for a NR! . I have the same car with three times the miles, silver very unmodified… Cobb tune. I did go to the electronic rear wing. If I needed to sell, underscore needed, my reserve would be $70k.

@ruffdawg slightly cracked. The quality of the leather in the 996’s wasn’t as high as in other years. It’s not terrible but it’s there.
Hi, is the outside part of the drivers seat very cracked, or is it just the pictures?
I remember asking about them and were told they were addressed but don’t remember what had been done.
Bid in the amount of $40,500
Have the coolant pipes been welded or pinned?
Thank you. The issue is usually not the up and down, but that one starts to sag just a tiny bit and then the ramps need to be replaced (ask me how I know)!
@jbeinhor no. It goes up and down and intended. Most people prefer to shoot with spoiler up for some reason.
Seller -- any issues with the spoiler functionality?
Service records under my ownership have been uploaded.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@motorbikebias it was under previous ownership. I just have mine. I’ll upload what I had done.
Do you have service records for this car? If they are lost can you kindly call the shop that serviced the car and uploadd copies of those reports? Thank you.
@hookjr it was tuned to my knowledge. The shop I had it at said it didn’t appear to be done. I believe it’s fab speed mufflers.
Any info you can provide on the aftermarket exhaust and flash tune? I see no documentation is available but and idea what shop performed the work/manufacturer info?
Bid in the amount of $40,250

Are there any videos? Cold start? Driving? Shifting, walk around?
@Adanacap I only have what was done under my ownership. I had all service records from previous ownership. My ownership includes all fluids replaced, oil change, filters checked and changed, new tires, brakes flushed, and all minor electrical issues addressed.
@texican. Shop that did all the work should be able to get all prior records for you pretty easily. Will go a long way to establishing history of the car - thanks.
@Bennhct at one point I had all of them. I have moved and am not sure I will find them in all the messs but I will do my best to look.
