Making up only a small portion of the total Porsche 996 production run, the Targa model featured a unique sliding glass roof system and was the first 911 to incorporate an opening rear hatch window. This 2003 example comes finished in Seal Grey Metallic over a Graphite Grey leather interior and is optioned with exclusive Porsche-crested headrests, 18” Sport Classic wheels, the Power Seat Package, Bose High-End Sound Package, and a 6-speed manual transmission. It remained under the care of its original owner in California while maintained regularly at a local Porsche dealership. Having recently been acquired by the seller and treated to a major service including an IMS bearing replacement, this 996 Targa is now being offered for auction out of Ohio with less than 8k miles on the odometer.
This Targa is finished in Seal Grey Metallic and rides on a set of factory optional 18” Sport Classic wheels dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport N3 tires. The roof is comprised of triple-layer laminated safety glass including a narrow front deflector strip, a sliding canopy, and a rear hatch that opens to provide access to the storage area. The seller describes this 996 to have been preserved in excellent overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with optional heated and power-operated leather seats in Graphite Grey with exclusive Porsche-crested headrests. The optional Bose-High End Sound Package is also equipped as well as automatic climate control, an electrically operated sunshade, a CD-storage compartment, and an original Porsche CDR-23 radio.
Producing up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Routine maintenance had been carried out by Stevens Creek Porsche of Santa Clara, California, while under the original owner’s care and the seller recently commissioned a major service including an IMS bearing replacement, new rear main seal, coolant and brake fluid flush, oil and filter change, a new battery, gearbox oil, air filters, serpentine belt, and spark plugs.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a set of three keys, and a clean title.

@Dozer Thank you for your interest in my Targa. The paint is all original, there are paint meter reading pictures in the gallery. There is no PPF applied to the car.
Is all the paint original? Any clear bra?

@darryljenk Thank you for your interest in my Targa. I replaced the radio knobs, after the picture was taken in the gallery. All others are as new.
The car is beautiful and appears to be sorted. Are there any sticky knobs to deal with ?

@Porscheguy1947 Thanks for your interest. Getting a PPI completed prior to the end of the auction on Monday is not possible at this point.
@Kehv Per the invoice the bearing upgrade kit was purchased by the installer Autobahn Extremist. I've been doing business with them the since 1998, if you win the auction, I will ensure that an appropriate paperwork trail to support the bearing warranty is provided.
@FawsittMotors thank for the quick response and additional information on the warranty. I assume you’d need something to prove that the IMS bearing was replaced appropriately (or at all) for any warranty claim (which I’m sure is unlikely), but I am just wondering if there is some registration that is provided with the install or perhaps the purchase of the part? Thank you
I am very interested in this 996, and would make a serious offer upon successful completion of a pre-buy Inspection.

@Kehv Thanks for your interest in my 996 Targa. I'm not aware of any codes for this bearing. The IMS replacement was completed by Chris Moore the owner of Autobahn Extremist Brooklyn Heights, OH. He is a Porsche specialist and has been in business for 30 years https://www.autobahnextremist.com/ and has replaced dozens of IMS bearings over the years. I told him to use the best option without regard for cost. He recommended the European Parts Solutions Bearing, the original bearing is in perfect condition and comes with the car.
For the European parts IMS replacement is there a code to confirm similar to the LN solution?

Could you please provide the window sticker/build sheet? Thanks, rlan
@FawsittMotors Thanks for confirming. And my bad, I saw a note from another interested party.
@cd1 Thanks for your interest. I'm not a golfer so I can't add any input on this. However, I found a picture online of a 996 Targa with golf clubs in the back so apparently it can be done. The image has been added to the gallery.

@slwags10 I've always wondered how well a set of clubs would fit. Please add a photo with the clubs in the car. Thanks.
@audios22 Thank you for your interest. I'd be delighted to show you the car by appointment.
Honestly thinking of selling my 04' 986 (44K miles) and make the move up to a 996. This appears to be, at first glance, an amazing example. I'm in Akron and may head over to Medina for a peek. great car.
@Flyman615 Thank you.
Gorgeous 911 Targa...I've seen none better! GLWTA!
@slwags10 Thank you for positive comments.
Gorgeous low mile, well maintained Targa. The driving experience in these glass top 911s is pure joy! Too hot, too cold, rain? just close the glass and enjoy the outdoors. And my golf clubs fit in the hatch...
@faugrad Thank you, the car is as good as it gets!
What a beauty! This should do well, good luck to all!
Thank you for taking the time to review my 996 Targa. I'm happy to answer any questions on the vehicle.
