The ultimate model in the 996 Carrera lineup, the 4S combines naturally aspirated performance with the wide body styling, brakes, and all-wheel-drive system of the 911 Turbo. This 2003 Coupe is finished in Guards Red over black full leather upholstery and features a 6-speed manual transmission, exclusive Guards Red seatbelts, Porsche crested headrests, the Aluminum/Chrome Package, Xenon Headlamp Package, and Bose High-End Sound Package. It has been further enhanced with an upgraded Fabspeed carbon fiber air intake, Porsche Classic radio (PCCM), and a thickened leather steering wheel. Acquired by its current owner in 2021, this Carrera 4S is now being offered for auction out of New York showing just over 52k miles on the odometer.
The Carrera 4S features wider fenders than a standard Carrera along with bumpers and 18” wheels borrowed from the 911 Turbo. The 4S is also distinguished by a model-specific reflector band spanning between the taillights. This Coupe is finished in Guards Red and features optional bi-xenon headlamps as well as stainless steel exhaust pipes included with the optional Aluminum/Chrome Package. The car rides on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2020 and the seller notes some slight discoloration on the rear driver’s wheel and wheel center cap. A small scratch is also noted on the driver’s side mirror as well as a scrape on the rear passenger fender, a small scratch on the passenger door, and blemished clearcoat on the trunk lid. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the 996 sports a black full leather interior with optional heated supple leather seats featuring adjustable lumbar support, Porsche crested headrests, and Guards Red seatbelts. Stainless steel door entry guards are included with the Aluminum/Chrome Package in addition to aluminum inlays for the shifter and brake handle. A thickened leather three-spoke steering wheel has been installed along with a modern Porsche Classic (PCCM) infotainment system.
The naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine is rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque, driving all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The sound and power output have been increased with the installation of an upgraded Fabspeed exhaust and carbon fiber cold air intake. The seller states the brakes were serviced in 2021 and the CARFAX report shows recommended service completed by Porsche Monmouth in 2022 including new spark plugs. There is no record of an IMS bearing replacement.
This sale will include a clean title.

5 of you in the hunt! Someone's sitting on their keyboard with a 50,000 - just knock it out and smile your way to the rapidly approaching spring.
(I'm in no way affiliated with the seller and took my $30k 115k mile 996 and dropped another $20k into it to get it as nice as this one and just want y'all to validate my existence)
whoever nails this one, do, the bearing and step on its neck!!! the car will appreciate this. I had two of these with the same intake ad exhaust set up, both the3.4 and the 3.6 it is arguable the best bang for the buck in the entire car market!!!!

@nhskibm Thank you, Completely agree
@gothamhunter Did the same in mine - 100% worth it. Went Nine Eleven Outlaw for the shifter to match my aircooled but the wheel, shifter, PCCM really make the cabin.

@nhskibm Yes, I added the steering wheel and shifter as soon as I received the car...Nothing like a fresh wheel and shifter...Makes the car feel new again
Hey seller is that the actual thicker sport steering wheel? For those that didn't pick it up if it is that's $7k for the leather airbag and wheel through Suncoast. Is it worth it? Yes.

I have one of these. 116k on the clock. Acquired it after selling a 991.2 T with 14k on the clock I got new in 2019. For the money this is a much much better car. It's plenty fast, seats are comfy, shifting/steering is engaging, sounds good, looks great in your side view mirrors (love me those hips) and with PCCM feels like you are in a modern car.
Worried about the IMS? Fine, spend the $3k+ to get the LN kit. Want it a little meaner sounding, get a 200cell cat and Fister. Wherever this ends up plus whatever you do to make it yours will be 50% the cost of a 997, 991, 992, etc. And honestly I'm not sure if it's 90% the fun, the same fun, or actually more fun.
The 996 C4S - the best bang for the buck 911 out there, period.
Come on peeps, this thing's a steal right now!

@alwaysbored786 I am at the shop right now
It is going up as we speak. Pics of underneath coming in the next 10min
Any pics of the undercarriage? Not a lot of time left on the auction. The battery terminal area rusted pretty quick compared to the same photo on BAT back in September. Curious whats happened underneath.

@audios22 there’s a 2005 997 on here that had an ims failure at 70k miles. Is there any difference in the 997 from the 996, or maybe that 997 was not maintained properly?
@gothamhunter What about using it as a daily driver ? You only put about 1400 miles on it. Just curious what changed.
Bid in the amount of $21,000
Good morning, I know that the Carfax shows no accidents, but was there any paint work done? Also, what is the life left on the clutch????. Thanks,
@audios22 Spot on
Please reach out via the contact seller button if you have any questions
@mk4tdi I will be uploading photos shortly. As for the IMS I was told by multiple porsche mechanics that replacing the IMS at 50k miles “Just because “ would be an absolute waste of time and $
But like someone stated earlier, If it makes you sleep better than by all means
@PCARNC I agree. I have an '04 986 with 44K miles. No IMS replacement. Nor clutch. If the IMS bearing does fail, it will within the first 15-20K miles. Some sooner. If the car was well maintained with regular service, there's no real reason to fear an IMS failure at 55K miles. If and when the clutch and seals need replaced, then upgrade the IMS. Meantime? Drive the heck out of this 996. The paint issues would cost roughly$ 500-$1000 to correct. Nice example. I'm thinking of bidding.
With 7 hours left should we expect to not see pics of the underside of the car?
When purchased on BAT you mentioned the following, why the change in heart? Both in regards to doing the replacement and daily driving it

Thank you to all the comments regarding the IMS. I Will be doing the upgrade shortly as I plan to daily drive this car. Better safe than sorry."
Nice car. Could you post a cold start video and one of it running so we can hear it go through the gears?
@KingG I will take some pics of the underside shortly...
Any corrosion under the car? That battery terminal can be addressed fairly easily, other areas will be a bit more difficult.
Would love to see photos underneath if possible.
Awesome example of the 996...new PCCM is just icing on the cake. Great buy for whoever gets this one!
P car market erased both of my comments related to the IMS.
Gorgeous 996 4S, I like the PCCM upgrade, is the Fabspeed intake California C.A.R.B legal? Any chance seller can put this on the lift and take detailed pictures of the undercarriage and suspension components, the corrosion on the battery tray and terminal concerned me.
@JSinCity I agree I heard amazing things about his engines
Why do some people feel the need to bash/ devalue someone's sale with misinformation. Everyone knows about the IMS bearing. It's has a 8% fail rate..That means 92% don't have the issue. People if you don't have a compliment for the car or the seller... STFU
Bid in the amount of $20,000
Less than 9% of 996’s (last number I saw) had an IMS failure. Mine has 87k on it and is an amazing car. Buy this car and drive it!!
@JSinCity Thank you! There is something special about a guards red 996 c4s
Totally agree...To anyone really concerned about the IMS...The cost to replace is around $3,000-$3,500
@gothamhunter what a gorgeous 4S. If I was on the market I would definitely be on the action on this one.
Peace of mind would let anyone sleep better and $3k investment will provide that IMHO. Heck if the price doesn’t go stratospheric, I would just send this beauty to @jakeraby and get a 4.3L upgrade in this puppy. ?
@JTsherri You are spot on....I have owned 4 996's and never had any issues.
Anyone with actual knowledge of these engines will tell you. IF IT HASN'T FAILED AT 50K MILES THE IMS IS FINE!
@ExoticrareKia - Flagging your comment as inappropriate since it’s a very low likelihood that this could occur AND an exaggeration of the cost. AGAIN, it’s best to leave the decision to the buyer’s preference vs. being a stooge and cluttering the comments with gloom and doom.
@ExoticrareKia - It’s best left to the buyer to decide. In the end this is just a proactive swap that some view as cheap insurance. The debate is ongoing, but based on data many have shared, the vast majority of cars never experience an issue (with many high-mileage examples to support this).
Probably best not to clutter the comments up with a discussion that’s occurred a thousand times and will probably happen a thousand more behind this, though. ??
