Available for auction is this 2003 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S Coupe finished in Carrara White. With its Turbo-derived styling, larger brakes, and lowered sport-tuned suspension, the Carrera 4S remains a top choice for enthusiasts of the 996 generation. This 2003 example was configured at an original cost of over $85k with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Bose High-End Sound Package, supple leather seats, Xenon Headlamp Package, and a Metropol Blue full leather interior.  An LN Engineering IMS solution is said to have been previously installed and the seller has conducted extensive maintenance throughout their ownership including replacements of the alternator, water pump, front axles, and brakes.  Currently showing just under 73k miles on the odometer, of which approximately 8k were added by the current owner, this Carrera 4S is being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.

This Carrera 4S is finished in nonmetallic Carrara White and features wide fenders, Turbo-style bumpers, and a model-specific reflector band between the taillights. The car has undergone a professional paint correction and application of ceramic coating. A corresponding invoice is provided for reference in the photo gallery along with additional images and a clean CARFAX report.  This 996 rides on 18” Turbo-Look wheels and the seller states that a brand-new set of tires will be mounted prior to sale.

Inside, you will find a handsome Metropol Blue full leather interior with optional supple leather upholstery on the front and rear seats.  Other factory options include Bose High-End Sound Package and the Xenon Headlamp Package. The center console has been painted to match the exterior and a carbon fiber inlay has been applied to the handbrake lever. The leather has been preserved with conditioner by the current owner and only minimal signs of wear are noted on the upholstery.  All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

The naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine features VarioCam Plus variable intake timing and was factory rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission providing for a 0-60 time of approximately 4.8 seconds. Compared with the standard Carrera 4, the 4S features a lower and more firmly tuned suspension as well as larger 4-piston monobloc brakes borrowed from the Turbo model.  This example has also been upgraded with a Top Speed silicone intake tube and H&R lowering springs for a more aggressive stance and improved handling. Upon acquiring this 996, the seller carried a full inspection and major service including a new alternator, water pump, front axles, spark plugs, brake pads, rotors, and a wheel alignment.  An LN Engineering IMS bearing solution is also said to have been installed under previous ownership.

This sale will include original books and owner's manuals, some invoices, and a clean title (lien).  The Porsche 996 generation is becoming increasingly sought after, do not miss your chance to own this thoroughly serviced and nicely optioned Carrera 4S 6-speed.

Good day , and beautiful automobile. I am very interested and would subsequently bid on this car provided I could pay the financial entity that holds the lein on your car and then pay you the difference. That would give me greater comfort level towards bidding on this very fine vehicle. Thank you kindly ?

Here's the info at LN Engineering's website for bearing serial #1306:
    https://imsretrofit.com/ims-check-details/?pdb=31649
It's the single row ims solution that needs no replacement.
It was produced in Dec 2016. So probably installed in 2017.
It was not registered at the LN Engineering site. Interestingly (shockingly, to me) LN Engineering says that less than 10% of installations are registered.
    https://lnengineering.com/ims-lookup.html
So, good news for bidders. I'd be all in for this car, but the cost of shipping probably makes my final bid lower than what it takes to get it.
I appreciate the seller's participation. GLWA

Hey guys, I wanted to make sure everyone understands exactly how I know that the IMS is replaced with the permanent IMS solution. Understanding this is why I felt comfortable buying the car myself.

@MrBurns I took some photos and videos of the door panels today and have asked Pcar to upload them. I lightly hit the spot of the drivers side with some carpet cleaner and it helped a lot, but Im no detailer so I didn't want to go too hard on it. I think it will completely come out. the videos will be from before I cleaned it and the photo is from after. The passenger side is perfect.

  • Nuwavenick (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@Txporsche I couldn't agree more! Unfortunately, it was done prior top my ownership. Luckily, the permanent IMS solution is easy to spot from under the car.

  • Txporsche 3 years, 8 monthsago

Ii own a 2003 C4 Cab which has a LN IMS bearing upgrade with the LN sticker and a work order receipt to prove it. I cannot imagine not having this work having been done with no documentation to back it up…???

  • Nuwavenick (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@MrBurns 51 is a more accurate photo of the passenger door panel. The drivers door panel had a small discolored spot that I never noticed until these photos were taken. I think it’s something the photographer did, but it is making me wonder if there is a very slight discoloration on the passenger door as well. I’ll take a close look and some close up cell phone pics in the morning and have them added to the gallery.

  • MrBurns (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@nuwavenick In picture 57, 58 and 82 it looks like a stain on the door carpet, is that just some strange lighting or is it some discoloration of the carpet?

  • AmeliaIslander (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@Nuwavenick - thanks again. I haven't followed 996 forums since I sold my 40th Jahr car. It would be interesting to see the two headers side by side (I'm not asking you do try to do that) for differences in bends, length, diameter, etc.

  • Nuno (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Great looking car. Interested. Local NJ.

  • Nuwavenick (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@AmeliaIslander It does not have a sticker. I checked my vin on their website and it wasn't registered on there either.

The clutch feels great and I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced it, but I am not sure. You really appreciate the 996 clutch feel after driving a 997 turbo with hydraulic assist.

A buddy of mine told me about the 997s headers being more a efficient design and super affordable. There are a few threads on the forums and such as well. I found a set for next to nothing and decided to try it out since I was going to be installing Fabspeed Maxflow mufflers as well. The fabspeed parts have since been removed.

  • AmeliaIslander (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

    @Nuwavenick -A few q's if you don't mind.
Is there a LN Engineering registration sticker on the car?
Do you know if the clutch is original (or replaced when the imsb was installed)?
Why did you replace the oe headers with 997's?
    Thanks very much.

@Nuwavenick Good luck with the 997 turbo engine. I hope post that exercise, you get miles of enjoyment. With the 996 and 997, I think you’ve had two of the great platforms Porsche developed (and I know there’s a lot shared between them). "Real key on the left" with these two.

  • Nuwavenick (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@blauhaus Thanks! the car has been amazing and gets crazy attention everywhere i go with it. The reliability of these cars is what makes them so great IMO. My replacement is a 997 turbo and im two weeks in and it looks like the motor has to come out already lmao. I think I will regret selling the 4s in the long run.

  • blauhaus (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

Man. Having a soft spot for white porsches and wide-bodied at that, this one checks a lot of boxes for me. Also love that this one eschews the standard black interior for Metropol Blau. The 996 c4s exterior is both beautifully penned and aggressive at the same time. Quite a remarkable balance. @Nuwavenick I bet this has been a fun one to own. Really beautiful images to boot. Props to your photographer. Appears to be a well-presented, honest example of a driven and maintained machine. I’d be proud to own and put miles on this one.

@AmeliaIslander you can see them here, but they look more like seams than crack. I think they are about a half inch long. It almost looks like they are supposed to be there. Light bar is perfect.

  • AmeliaIslander (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@Nuwavenick -I didn't see them. Not sure I do even w/magnification but thanks for saying they are there. It's usually the light bar that's a problem (mostly fading) but yours like everything else about the car looks good.

  • AmeliaIslander (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@Nuwavenick - thanks for a rapid response. Totally understandable. I am the same w/"toy" cars I own. 2-3 years is the average. So many cars. so little.....

  • Nuwavenick (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

I would also like to point out the small stress cracks in the tail lights. This is apparently very common for 996 cars. These have not gotten worse since I have owned the car, so I decided not to replace them. There is not a condensation issue with the lights and they work perfectly. See photo 21.

  • Nuwavenick (seller) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@AmeliaIslander Not on my end at all. I put about 8k miles on the car with zero issues (other than a nail in a tire). My decision to sell was mostly driven by the rising market and the fact that I just picked up a 997 turbo. When I purchased the car I did some digging on the previous dealers who serviced the car for each owner. The Honda dealer is also a Porsche dealer and I think one other was as well. I liked the fact that most owners had it factory serviced. Im guessing its just a bunch of guys like me who like to try different cars for a year or two and move on. Im on Jessup road in west deptford, not far from 47.

  • AmeliaIslander (registered bidder) 3 years, 8 monthsago

@Nuwavenick - you've had this less than a year (Carfax) and it's had ten previous owners. Any correlation?
Thanks for the video of the instrument cluster while driving. Very helpful.

Hey guys, thanks for checking out my car.
I would like to point out a few important things in the photos.

I’ll start with minor defects. These are things that I planned on taking care of had kept the car.
-Photos 26,44,45: there is a tiny door ding by the headlight. If you zoom in you will see. I believe it is repairable by a good pdr person, but never got around to it.
-Photo 38: note the scratches by the tail pipe. I have never attempted to repair these.
-Photo 77: note chip in paint by the false buttons. I just did this with the seat belt a couple of weeks ago. I lightly sanded and used universal white touch up to seal the chip. It does not match perfectly and needs to be taken care of.
-Photo 60: the light spot in the carpet. I never even noticed this until I looked at these photos from the photographer. It doesn’t look as bad at all in person.

    IMS
-Photo 112: this photo shows the oil feed line and adapter to the corvette oil filter that is used in the IMS Solution. I do not have a photo of it taken apart as it was done by a previous owner.

-997 headers: I installed these and I have the stock ones to go along with the car.
