Preventive Maintenance is always best! I know that you have enjoyed the car
I had 71000 miles on it when purchased but did the IMS (and the water/oil separator) as a just-in-case.

You are correct. This is a very dependable model and the IMS bearing has been replaced. However, I never had a problem with the IMS bearing but did it for the comfort of a new owner.
I have a 2003 Carrera Cab with beige interior and Lapis Blue exterior. It is a marvelous vehicle. When I purchased it I had the IMS bearing replaced and the car has run beautifully ever since. The 996 has been a great car to own - just take care of the IMS. It remains one of the best buys. I have 3 additional Porsches and this is the one I would drive across country for the comfort and the dependability. Someone will be winning this great 996.
Welcome, and thank you for viewing the 2003 Porsche Cabriolet. The car is in excellent condition and I am here to answer your questions.
