@broski In fact, in the 3.6 cars, it is a problem with more than 8% of them. Statistics outweigh anecdotal evidence. Glad that you've not had a problem yet.

IMS issue is overacted in my opinion and in fact was a problem with very few cars.
What I do with my car is that I change the oil every 3000 miles and we open the filter and look for metal debris plus have a magnetic plug, so far in 65k miles have not seen any metal and therefore will not be changing the IMS (of course this is my opinion and I an not giving advice here)
My mechanic who is a 30 year plus expert and worked his first 20 years at Alan Jonson Porsche and later at Porsche of San Diego has told me that in his time he was only seen 2 cases come through his shops
@cmrusaf , the radio just stopped working about a month ago. our mechanic thinks it's a short in the radio itself. a new radio is about 250 dollars.
my porsche mechanic said that since we replace the oil every 3 to 5 k miles we should'nt have any problems with the bearing. i've been told that if you drive a 911 hard with dirty oil then you;ll have an issue with the bearing going out. we've owned the car for 6 years and we never had any mechanical issues,
Just making sure I understand 2 parts of this ad--1) the head unit that's not working is JUST the radio, and 2) status of the IMS bearing? Thank you.
