We are pleased to offer this incredible 2003 996 Turbo finished in Speed Yellow over Nephrite Green.  Equipped with a legendary GT1-derived Mezger engine, optional X50 power kit, and a one-off color combination, this Turbo represents one of the more desirable water-cooled 911’s to date.  Now showing just 8k original miles on the odometer, this unique Turbo is being offered for auction in collector-grade condition by a seller in Pennsylvania.

The Speed Yellow paint on this vehicle is said to be all original and in exceptional condition.  This Turbo rides on original 18” Turbo Twist wheels which remain in like-new condition and come wrapped in Pirelli tires.  Highlighting distinctive Turbo bodywork and a speed-variable rear spoiler, this Turbo X50 is an absolute showstopper.

The seller states that this phenomenal Nephrite Green full leather interior presents as new, showing virtually no signs wear.  Specially ordered from Stuttgart, this 911 features Speed Yellow seat belts as well as Speed Yellow deviated stitching throughout the whole interior.  The seller confirms that all gauges, electrical components and accessories are intact and fully functional at this time.

Accompanied by a $142,075 original list price, this Turbo has been appointed with the following options:

  • Remote CD Changer (6 Disc)
  • Turbo Power Kit
  • Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipes
  • Aluminum Instrument Dials
  • Steering Column Covered in Leather
  • Porsche Crest in Headrests
  • Footwell Lighting
  • Aluminum/Leather Shifter/Brake Handle

Originally developed for the 911 GT1 Le Mans car, the Mezger engine is regarded by many Porsche experts as the ultimate water-cooled engine.  Featuring a true dry sump and crank driven oil pumps, this engine resists oil surge during aggressive cornering.  Furthermore, this GT1 derived engine doesn’t suffer from IMS bearing related issues as its oil system ensures constant lubrication.

This Turbo has been optioned with the X50 package which consists of a revised ECU, quad-pipe exhaust, and larger K24 turbochargers and intercoolers.  With these enhancements, this 996’s 3.6 L turbocharged Mezger engine is capable of putting out 444 HP to all four wheels by way of a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  0-60 is achieved in a blistering 3.7 seconds while top speeds of over 190mph have been recorded.  This Turbo is stated to be up-to-date on all due maintenance and the seller has indicated that the brake hoses, front left axle boot and hydraulic pressure accumulator will be replaced prior to sale.  This 996 reportedly runs and drives beautifully at this time with no issues to speak of.

The sale of this remarkable 2003 996 Turbo will include original books and manuals, 2 master keys + 1 valet key, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a copy of the original window sticker.  Also included is a clean Carfax report as well as a clear Pennsylvania title in the name of the seller’s business.  Do not miss out on this exceedingly unique, collector’s grade X50 Turbo; place your bids today.

    @udrive Thanks for your reply.

@Davidmohlman David, we do not have service records . The biggest part of a major would consist of the replacement of the plugs. A visual has shown that the the filters do not need replacement and I would be happy to have a fresh oil service completed for the new owner of the car should it sell here. I did not pull the spark plugs but I would budget the $500 or so cost involved to have them replaced when placing a bid. Feel free to call directly again or send a message should you have additional questions. Thank you for your continued interest in this vehicle.

@udrive thanks for you reply. I was recently advised that the car had no major or required service. please confirm if this is still applicable.

@skalra that must have been a great car! I also love the Nephrite Green interior. Having the fortunate ability to be around so many 911's over the years has only furthered my appreciation for the truly unique! Thank you for taking the time to comment.

@Davidmohlman Hello David, I am sorry we were not provided with service history. We did send a video walkaround with paint readings into PCar this AM. I am sure they will add it to the auction shortly. The paint is original. Thank you for following along.

Possible to get paint meter readings on entire car and copy of last major service. thanks.

@Slim_Chance you’ll be surprised how easy it is to get used to, even like or love, the color after it grows on you. I used to own a 996TT in arctic silver with the same interior. Probably only 2 of 2 in the US this interior color. I ended up trading it in for a 2015 Boxster S, and have been regretting the decision ever since. Boxster is a nice, fun car to drive but it is no 911 Turbo.

I am tempted to bid in this one...

@Slim_Chance Thank you for sharing that info. I completely understand that all colors are not for everyone but there is no disputing the premium that rare, unque color combinations have experienced in the Porsche collector car market over the past several years. This is evidenced by the many 991 GT Cars that all seem to be a PTS or unique color combo these days. The individual that spec'd this car out was well ahead of his time. This car checks all of the boxes, spectacular condition, low mileage, high level of equipment, top of the food chain Trim level, and rare color combo. If we could only find more!

@Slim_Chance "It is a really nice car but I could never quite get over the interior color."

  • Slim_Chance 5 yearsago

I know this one. Almost bought it. The 2nd owner has a nice collection. He "may" have put 100 miles it. He consigned it to Truban in Winchester VA. Originally sold in Charlottesville by Crown, now Flow Porsche. It is a really nice car but I never could never quite get over the interior color. The original owner spec'd it out this way. Should only go to a good home!
FWIW, it was never driven in the "wet" during the ownership of the 1st two gentleman.

@Mercyhealth Just my perspective, I never understood people putting in $5k bid on a car that would never in any circumstance sell for that. When I'm interested I feel starting somewhere near reality goes a long way.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 5 yearsago

This car has super low miles. I will be watching but agree a healthy start 6 days from the end.

  • gregryba (registered bidder) 5 yearsago

    That's a healthy start.

@Chuck246cp thanks for taking the time to view the car and leave a comment.

I have a 996 X50 6speed and love it. These cars are an absolute bargain right now....big bang for your buck. This looks to be a very nice one.....would be better with factory aero package and some sexier wheels. .....Chuck
