Available for auction is this 2003 Mercedes-Benz R230 SL 500 finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over a Black/Anthracite leather interior. The flagship Mercedes-Benz luxury grand tourer of the early 2000s, the R230 SL-Class was debuted at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show featuring an advanced retractable hardtop roof system. This 2003 example comes equipped with the largest naturally aspirated engine available at the time, the M113 V8, as well as ABC (Active Body Control) suspension, a premium sound system, multi-contour seats, and burred walnut veneers throughout the cabin. Sold new in Ohio, this SL 500 made its way to California in 2004 where it is now being offered for auction showing approximately 30k miles on the odometer.
This R230 comes finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic and sports characteristic straked grilles on the aluminum hood and front fenders. The matching retractable hardtop is comprised of four separate pieces and can be raised in as little as 16 seconds. This SL 500 rides on factory 17” 7-spoke aluminum wheels dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. The car is said to have been garage kept and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The driver and passenger are accommodated within a black full leather interior accented by burred walnut veneers on the center console and door panels. Equipment includes heated and ventilated multi-contour seats with memory settings, a premium sound system, automatic climate control, a CD changer, and COMAND navigation.
This SL 500 is equipped with an M113 5.0L V8 engine rated at 302 HP and 339 lb.-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Active Body Control (ABC) suspension comes standard along with anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and Sensotronic electrohydraulic brake control. An oil change has been recently completed and CARFAX shows recommended service completed by Mercedes-Benz of San Diego at 27,185 miles.
This sale will include the original owner's manuals and a clean title. Sparingly driven and well preserved in the sunny state of California, this 2003 SL 500 awaits its next owner.
