Recognized as a modern classic, the Honda S2000 is an agile open-top sports car offering exceptional performance from a 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC engine. This 2003 example marks the final year of the original AP1 generation and comes finished in Suzuka Blue Metallic over a Blue leather interior. Remaining true to its factory specifications and with less than 30k miles on the odometer, this increasingly collectible Honda S2000 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

This S2000 is finished in Suzuka Blue Metallic with a power-operated black soft top. Equipment includes a black windscreen frame, xenon headlights, dual exhaust outlets, and safety roll hoops behind the seats. The car rides on factory 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels and an additional set of factory wheels are said to be included. The driver’s side quarter panel is said to have been refinished and the CARFAX reports minor cosmetic damage to the front end in January 2023. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The Blue interior is appointed with leather-trimmed seats, aluminum pedal covers, pushbutton ignition, and a digital instrument display mounted ahead of a three-spoke leather steering wheel. The driver is also provided with air-conditioning, power windows and door locks, a locking storage compartment, and a sound system with AM/FM CD stereo. The seller describes signs of wear consistent with the car’s age and mileage.

Touted as generating the highest output per liter of any naturally aspirated production engine at the time, the S2000 is equipped with a 2.0-liter F20C inline four-cylinder engine featuring dual overhead camshafts and VTEC variable valve timing. As much as 240 HP and 153 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheel through a 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. The compact and lightweight engine is mounted behind the front axle, contributing towards an ideal 50/50 weight distribution. Some maintenance history is provided on the CARFAX report including the most recent record service from paragon Acura in 2021 at 27,938 miles.

    Hi, just to answer a few questions that were asked. The S2000 uses a timing chain, not a timing belt. While I don't have a record of a water pump being replaced, normally it wouldn't need one for quite some time. I do have have a bunch of service records in the file but no mention of the water pump.     @PORSCHE1 S2000's F20 and F22 engines use timing chains instead of timing belts; they last well over 100K miles. Water pumps on these engines rarely fail and are replaced when there's is a visible leak through the pump's weep hole.

    Hi everybody,
    I'm not 6'4 (5'10) but I do fit very comfortably in the S2000. As far as comfort, I think people are built differently and some tall people fit great in one car and not the next. Other tall people might have an opposite feeling. As far as the top, it is a replacement with a glass window that looks and feels as new. Here with any questions.

    @JRitt - Thanks for your thorough comments on your experiences in trying to fit inside an S2000. Pretty much echoes my feelings as well, though I never got far enough to actually drive one! All of this seems kind of odd to me, as I fit inside my stock '72 240Z just fine, because Datsun designed that car, thirty years prior to the S2K, with the U.S. market, and larger American drivers, in mind. Ditto the '17 BRZ I used to own. I guess Subaru and Toyota got the memo, but Honda dropped the ball 20+ years ago. It's a shame, as I'm sure there are quite a few taller drivers like me who were excluded from the Honda party. And, thanks to @JimClark for your suggestions, too. With a name like that, I will welcome any thoughts you might have to share!

    @wadds1971 I'm also 6'4" or so and owned one of these cars. For the life of me I couldn't get comfortable in it. Keep in mind that I also have owned numerous other smaller cars...about 5 Miata, an MR2 Spyder, 987 Boxster, Integra Type R, NSX, fit fine in an Elise/Exige, etc. The major problem with the S2k for tall people is that the steering wheel doesn't move at all. Not only does it not telescope, it doesn't tilt or move in any manner. I tried an aftermarket wheel and a Tillett carbon bucket seat, and just couldn't get myself into a comfortable driving position no matter what I did. In an NA Miata, removing the door handle, the dead pedal, a race bucket, and 330mm steering wheel got me comfortably where I needed to be. In the S2k I just couldn't get my body and hands in the proper relationship to each other no matter how much I fiddled with seat position. My father-in-law ended up buying one after trying mine, so I get to revisit the situation occasionally when I visit him. It's okay for short drives, but it gets old fairly quickly. Keep in mind that everybody's body proportions are different, so you may not have any issues at all. Also keep in mind that these are fantastic cars and I can't imagine they'll ever lose value in the future...only keep appreciating. They are complete dogs puttering around town, but super fun on a back road when being wrung out, and magic on a racetrack where you can really drive them. The engine, gearbox, and chassis all form a harmonic chorus when they're driven hard.

    @wadds1971 Not my dilemma, but recommendations about this issue over the years on the S2KI forum include: lower seat tracks, flat bottom steering wheel, and a racing seat like a Recaro Pole Position, SPARCO, etc.

    I have always loved the look of these cars, and they have generally garnered rave reviews over the years from the motoring press. But, I've never bought one, because I just don't fit inside the car! I'm 6'4" tall, about 240 lbs., and that's not likely to change anytime soon! I'm just tossing out this question: Has anyone out there successfully modified the seating position in an S2000 to actually accommodate a bigger/taller driver like me? I've heard of modified seat tracks made by an aftermarket supplier that might drop the seat maybe 3/4", or so, but I'm sure more is needed. Any success stories out there? I'd love to bid on this car, as Suzuka Blue is my favorite on these, but... Thanks for any encouragement anyone can provide.
