Recognized by many as one of the greatest BMWs of all time showcasing the revered S62 engine, impressive performance capabilities, and a host of luxurious features, the E39 M5 was the first M5 to offer a V8 and to use aluminum front suspension components and four-link rear suspension, contributing towards a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. This 2003 example pairs a 6-speed manual transmission and comes finished in Sterling Grey Metallic over Caramel Heritage Nappa leather. It is now being offered for auction by its second owner out of Georgia while showing approximately 132k miles on the odometer.

This E39 comes factory finished in Sterling Grey Metallic and rides on factory 18” Style 65 wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. M5-specific details include Shadowline trim and revised bumpers, side skirts, trunk lid spoiler, aerodynamic mirrors, and quad exhaust outlets. Additional features include xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, and M5 badging on the trunk lid and side moldings. The seller notes a minor scuff on the driver’s side of the front bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Caramel Nappa Extended leather including a leather-wrapped dashboard, glove box, center console, and matching door panels with leather map pockets. Wood trim accents the dashboard, center console, shift knob, and door panels, while the headliner is upholstered in black Alcantara suede. The heated front seats are deeply bolstered and feature power adjustability with memory functions. Features also include M5-badged door sills, an M-branded gear shift lever, and an M Sport multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel. Amenities include a cassette stereo connected to a trunk-mounted 6-CD changer, a navigation system, a sliding power-operated glass sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and a power-adjustable steering column. The seller notes minor signs of wear as expected with age.

This M5 equips a 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine that features double-VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, hollow camshafts, and a quasi-dry-sump lubrication system. The S62 produced up to 394 HP and 369 lb.-ft of torque when new and allowed the M5 to reach 0-60 MPH in as little as 4.8 seconds onto a top speed of 155 MPH. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag 420G 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Compared to the standard 5-Series, the M5 also received unique spring rates, a lowered ride height, model-specific shock valving, thicker sway bars, Servotronic power steering, an upgraded clutch, heavy-duty rubber bushings, and upgraded front wheel bearings. The seller states that regular maintenance has been carried out and there are currently no outstanding maintenance items. A total of 11 service history entries are shown on the CARFAX report.

This sale will include a clean title, owner's manuals, and sales literature.

@jtclark I had the vehicle detailed before the pictures so that would be the water running off. No water build up in the rear view mirror. And no leaks I can even take a picture or video of it running to show that as well. It has new front tires less then a month old give me a few I can get the dates of the rear tires for you. And I’m expecting a little one unexpectedly is why I’m getting rid of it. Trust me I planned on keeping it forever but I have to free up room in the stable.

@Tortauno I am having a new born I wasn’t accounting for and I currently have 5 vehicles. Made an agreement with the wife to get rid of two and unfortunately this one had to go. I’ve owned a e60 and a f10 M5 as well but I need an SUV now. I’ve had multiple techs go through the vehicle but I haven’t had to do anything to this vehicle because I haven’t driven the vehicle more than a thousand miles.

  • JaelinR (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@wilhit10 No they have not been changed.

  • Tortauno (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Hi, 2 questions. Why are you selling the car after owning 6 months and have you done any maintenance during your ownership. Thanks!

Hi @JaelinR Underside photos shows liquid on ground. Are there any known leaks or seepages?
Is there liquid buildup in rear view mirror? I can't tell from photos.
What are the tire date codes?
Do you have all service records from prior owner? Why selling after a few months of ownership?

  • wilhit10 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Have the chain guides, and the rod bearings been replaced yet?

@JaelinR thanks for the response. Appreciate it.

  • JaelinR (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@jt007 it may be the angle or the way the light hits the vehicle but I can assure you the gaps align and hasn’t been in an accident. If your local please come by and take a closer look at it in person.

  • JaelinR (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@NebulousMan yes the maintenance records should be shown shortly in the photos.

In pic 13, the driver side fender gap around the headlight and along the hood seem bigger than the passenger side on previous pic. Also color seems off? Anything to know there?

  • NebulousMan (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Are you able to provide images of the maintenance records? Thanks!

  • JaelinR (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@jtclark Yes, I can go to where I am storing the vehicle and put it on a lift and take additional photos of the undercarriage.no signs of rust AC blows cold and heat works well. I’m the second owner so from my understanding it’s the original clutch.

  • JaelinR (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@URS6 thank You! Unfortunately yes it does.

  • jtclark (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Hi seller, love the color combo! Are you able to post additional photos of underside? Any signs of rust? Does A/C blow cold? Still on original clutch?
