Representing the third generation of the legendary BMW M3, the E46 is well regarded for its high-revving S54 inline 6-cylinder engine. Midway through the 2003 production year, the M3 received a Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) update which included new LED taillights, an extended trunk handle, and the introduction of two new color options. This 6-speed example was ordered in Mystic Blue Metallic over a Light Grey Nappa leather interior and was first titled in Tennessee before moving to Colorado in 2020 where it is now being offered for auction showing just under 20k miles on the odometer.
The exterior is finished in Mystic Blue Metallic (A07) and features wider fender flares, side vents, aggressive bumpers, aerodynamic mirrors, and quad exhaust outlets characteristic of the M3. Equipment includes xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, high-gloss black Shadowline trim, and a rear trunk lid lip spoiler. The windows have been tinted and black kidney grilles have been installed with removable German flag striped slats. The 18” Style 67 wheels are mounted with Sumitomo tires from 2017 in the front and 2018 in the rear. The seller reports a cosmetic refresh was completed in 2018 including a thorough paint correction and a refinishing of the front bumper, driver’s side mirror, and passenger side fender, door, and rear quarter panel. The seller also notes some rock chips on the front hood, clearcoat failure on the driver’s side skirt, scratches on the rear bumper, and a paint chip on the passenger side rear wheel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is upholstered in Light Grey Nappa leather and features deeply bolstered 14-way M-Sport seats with matching door panels and carpeting accented by Titan Shadow trim. M3-specific details include a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with M stitching, M-branded instrumentation with warm-up lights, M3 door sill guards, M3 floor mats, and an Anthracite headliner. Driver’s amenities consist of a Harman Kardon stereo system with a C43 BMW Business radio, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, an onboard computer, a glass sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and an aftermarket auxiliary audio port. The seller reports some scratching on the interior trim and minor wear on the driver’s seat.
The E46 M3 equips an S54 3.2L inline-six factory rated at 333 HP and 269 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a 6-speed manual transmission and M-Variable limited-slip differential, which allows the M3 to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in around 5 seconds up to an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH. The seller reports that the engine oil and filter were changed in February of 2021, as well as a flush of the coolant system, brakes, transmission, and differential. The seller also notes that the rod bearings, VANOS variable valve timing, and rear subframe have not been addressed due to the vehicle’s low mileage, although a full maintenance inspection was completed in August of 2020.
This sale will include owner’s manuals and some service documentation and a clean title.

@golden1ne Agreed, I noticed that as I was submitting the pictures for the auction. I never drove the car in the rain or got it wet so not sure. I assume it is something like that done during the prior owner's time. I will have the carpets professionally shampooed for the winning bidder.

Can you speak to the discoloration/staining of the front carpets. Looks like maybe moisture at some point either from detailing and putting mats back in while the carpet was still wet or transfer form mats?
Thanks!
@davidmeister7 Sorry, I'm not to disclose the reserve price out of fairness to all interested parties, but I do feel that PCarMarket and I have arrived at a reasonable number. I hope that we can get this car to its next owner! Good luck to all bidders and thanks for everyone's interest in my beautiful car.

what is the reserve?

@Firewood Yes, the A/C blows ice cold.
@Firewood Actually, not sure. I rarely drove the car (less than 400 miles in 2 years) so I can't recall what I ever thought of the stereo in that car (I also have several other cars in which I don't really listen to the radio either).
<<<Cliche alert>>> The S54 motor makes better music than any radio could!!
@TubeGuy Thanks for the comment! When I bought the car, the previous owner explained to me that he wanted to make the car perfect for himself so he took the car to the best body shop around (in TN, where the car was previously located) and had them do the paint correction and respray. My best guess is that someone brushed up against something that scratched through the paint which was best addressed by a respray. In any case, it appears to be a great job to me and there was no accident so I wasn't bothered by it.
Here is the previous owner's response to that very question: "As far as the paint correction, I had that done when I bought it because it had some scratches and dings and I wanted the car to be perfect. It has never been in an accident, at least during my ownership and prior. "
Very nice! Great color, too. Not critical, but curious, how does the HK stereo sound? I've never been a big fan of Harmon-Kardon in my BMWs, though never heard one this early. Have a couple of BMWs with B&O and it's a big improvement, though B&O was probably NA in 2003. More impt, does the AC blow strong & cold? Wow, love that blue exterior. Thanks & glwta!
It's a really a nice car. So the previous owner had the paint cleaned up? Curious why the passenger front fender, door, and quarter panel got repainted?
