Equipped with a 3.2-liter flat-six engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox, this 2002 Porsche 986 Boxster S comes finished in Lapis Blue Metallic over a Graphite Grey interior. It was ordered with the optional Sport Package, Porsche crested headrests, and 18” Turbo-look wheels. This 986 was acquired by the current owner about three years ago who has since added approximately 4k miles, replaced the catalytic converters, and added a sport exhaust along with routine maintenance items. Showing just over 64k miles on the odometer, this Boxster S is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey.
This 986 is finished in Lapis Silver Metallic and can be distinguished as an “S” model from a standard Boxster by its red-painted brake calipers, silver-colored front grilles, and dual exhaust tip. This example rides on optional 18” light alloy Turbo-look wheels with new Sumitomo tires in the rear and tires dated from 2018 in front. Upgraded LED bulbs have been installed and the seller notes a small dimple on top of the passenger front fender as well as a small scratch on the passenger side hood and driver’s door. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing damage to have occurred in 2006 and 2018.
The Graphite Grey partial leather interior features seats with optional Porsche-crested headrests as well as a set of custom floor mats and an upgraded head unit with Bluetooth and navigation. The cover is missing from the driver’s vanity mirror and the seller describes the cabin to be in good condition with all gauges and accessories working properly.
A naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 250 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Under current ownership, an upgraded sport exhaust has been installed, the catalytic converters were replaced, and a recent service was completed including new brake pads, rotors, and an oil change. A noise was identified from an upper strut bearing and a replacement part will accompany the sale along with the original exhaust.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals and a clean title.

@leigh my wife would hassle me that I am going to Home Depot to pick up some stuff, she would respond that I will be back in an hour— taking the long road to get the little thing is fun in this car!
@Porschedad1 sorry— meant to say on File.
Thanks
@Porschedad1 hello,
I’ve added a cold start video I took last month for a potential buyer. Shows cold start, undercarriage and it ends just when the tach starts to dip for warm up.
Hope it helps,
Thanks,
John

@WRENCH.56 I am sorry,
I may not make it back in time to film one— I will look to see if I have one on fuel already.
Thanks

Too late now, but a cold start video with someone filming the exhaust would have meant more than a warm start video showing…absolutely nothing.
@leigh I cannot agree more.
The best car to run errands and listen to the exhaust note. I always take the longer routes to enjoy the sounds and thrill of the ride.
Thanks
The 986 Boxster S is a delightful car, light, predictable, tossable and the right gearing for some back country fun in 2nd and 3rd gears. What’s not to love in lapis blue. Budget for an IMS bearing or play the odds and just drive it. Glwta

Hello,
I was going through receipts and may have left out— I added the short shift kit to this car more than a year ago as well as wheel spacers— 7mm in front and 15mm in back— these can be taken off by new owner if they wish.
Thanks,
John

@Porschelover30 hello— I’ve added some undercarriage, view of newer items added from tune up , exhaust and brakes, rotors.
Also some photos of shocks and area surrounding.
Thanks
@Porschedad1 I have added some under carriage , shock and brakes pics to the list if you want to view.
Thanks
@Porschelover30 sorry no— I purchased from a dealer and his comment was that he was told they were parking lot accidents.
@Porschelover30 sure thing— I will have some added later today.
Thanks
Any idea on the kind of damage sustained in the two accidents?
Any chance of getting some additional underbody shots? Perhaps couple of shots of the shocks and struts as well.

@Razor1964 thanks for info.
I have always assumed it was not done, I make sure to keep regular maintenance and oil changes to help.
@Porschedad1 If the IMS have been done a sticker should have been placed somewhere in the engine compartment! At least LN Engeneering do that with all IMS bearing the sell!! It is a number part and you need to register it for the guaranty!! Thanks
@Razor1964 hello,
The previous owner claimed it was done at dealership in florida— but I have no documentation.
Hello; have the IMS bearing replacement been done? Let me know
Hello Everyone,
My name is John Hayden and I am available for any questions regarding my 2002 Porsche Boxster S.
It is adult driven and cared for— always garaged and never raced or seen a track day.
Selling to start our next project with my boys— a 928.
This has been one of the best Porsches I’ve ever owned. Fast, fun and reliable.
My wife only permits one extra car for the garage, so we are selling to see the next Porsche.
Please let me know if you want to see or test drive the car or have questions.
Thank you,
John Hayden
Thursday works fine. Thanks
