Up for auction is this 2002 Porsche 986 Boxster finished in Black over a black partial leather interior. This first-generation Boxster was purchased new by its owner from Tom Wood Porsche of Indianapolis and came factory optioned with a 5-speed manual transmission, 17” Boxster Design wheels, the Sport Package, Xenon Headlamp Package, and Porsche Stability Management (PSM). It has been garage-kept throughout its life and benefits from a major 60k-mile service carried out earlier in 2021 including replacement of the brakes, water pump, clutch, flywheel, and IMS bearing. A new set of tires were also installed during this time along with an upgraded sport muffler. Showing just over 67k miles on the odometer, this well-cared-for Boxster is now being offered for auction by its original owner out of Ohio.
This Boxster comes finished in nonmetallic Black with a new black soft top and rides on a set of 17” Boxster Design wheels fitted with optional colored center crests and new Hankook Ventus tires. The car is said to have always been kept in a heated garage while never driven during the winter months. The front bumper, passenger-side fender, and rear quarter panel are said to have been previously refinished for cosmetic purposes, and the seller notes only minor signs of road-going wear on the front end, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, you will find a black partial leather interior with automatic climate control and an original CDR-220 radio. This example came factory equipped with the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package and the Sport Package, which adds a cabin wind deflector behind the seats, an alarm system, and a central locking system. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This Boxster carries a naturally aspirated 2.7L flat-six engine rated at 217 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque stock. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission while the optional Porsche Stability Management (PSM) feature helps to control the vehicle under demanding driving conditions. The seller reports all annual maintenance to have been carried out by the original selling Porsche dealership up until 2017, with subsequent services completed by a local independent Porsche specialist. A major 60k-mile service completed in May of 2021 included the installation of an upgraded sport muffler as well as replacement of the following items:
This sale will include the original owner's manuals, toolkit, spare tire, service records, and a clean title. Meticulously maintained by its original owner, this 2002 example may very well be the 986 Boxster you have been searching for.

Good morning. Sorry missed your question. I sorely hate to sell this beauty after spending the summer with her. I’m 84 and am looking for a tiptonic (aaaah) because of foot problems.
May I ask why your selling after only 8 month's of ownership? Especially now that its well sorted.
Hey Tony, forgot your question about the water tank. Inspected at the 60000 miles service. It’s Ok. I’ve driven it approx 800 miles, not a problem.
Hi Tony. The IMS kit came from Pelican Parts. When the old bearing was removed, it showed no wear. Smooth as silk. It’s pictured next to the new bearing. I bought the car from the original owner in April. Thanks
Great looking Boxster. Have you noticed any coolant leaks from the rear reservoir? Was the IMS replacement the LNE brand retrofit or solution? If not, what brand was it? Also, are you indeed the original owner? Thanks and Good Luck! Tony

The current work order is LIVE. Take a peek.
Thanks for your questions. The oil was changed when the 60,000 mile service was done in may, along with the other items mentioned. There is a picture of the old and new IMS bearings in my pictures, The old bearing was as new looking as the replaced one. I think regular oil changes approx every 2500 miles saves the IMS. The oil changes were not recorded on Carfax because many independent mechanics don't report to carfax. Ill send the invoice on all the work done in may this afternoon. Thanks a million.
Roger, your 986 looks very well maintained and presents beautifully. I couldn’t make out if the service invoice was for the recent major maintenance and IMS replacement. Could you possibly post a clear photo of the invoice for that service. Also, the Carfax last shows maintenance in 2012 at 53k miles. How often have you changed oil & filter and when was it last done? Thank you.
The Seller has done a great job through pictures, videos, and comments describing this well-loved vehicle. Expect top dollar if exposure is attracted by Pcar. Good luck. Rick A

Hello buyers and observers. This is a great Boxster that I looked for months to put in my garage. I spent a bundle on all items that I thought were needed for a perfect reliable roadster. Come drive it anywhere!! The pictures show you that its a great example. No dents, no dings, and just a few stone chips. The interior is excellent except for a very minor spot on the drivers seat edge. Minor repair. Almost new top looks new and works perfectly.
Runs and drives as it should. The sport muffler gives it a nice deeper tone. I welcome any and all questions you like. I can answer most all of them.( I hope) Be sure to look at the videos. There are three and all in one video. My wife and I had fun doing them. We are 80 and 84 and they aren't perfect. Thanks Roger
