The seller would like you to know: “This 2002 Porsche 911 / 996 TT is in Excellent condition. A 2021 PCA, Diablo Region Concourse Winner, shown and awarded at the Werks Reunion in Monterey. A California Car all its life; the Porsche spent time in Beverly Hills, and the Southern California area before traveling North to the Bay Area. Driven less than average by most of the previous owners and meticulously cared for by 3 of the 5 previous owners/collectors, the car shows the care it has been given (of the 5 total owners, 2 were auto dealers). The unique Porsche Slate Grey is a wonderful color and shows as well as the car drives. Truly a collector's car and will always be a good investment for the future.”

@sportscarguy3 - I saw that auction on the other site. Tough crowd : ) This car speaks for itself.

FWIW, my 2002 has shown no issues with 2nd gear popout or spoiler hydraulics.

@fitzpatrick appreciate the encouraging comments regarding my Porsche, it is a nice one for sure and I was very disappointed that my 2003 didn't sell as I hoped on the other auction site. ( hoping to keep this 2002 ! )
Life happens and you have to roll with it
    Good luck with your X-50 ! ( and new tunes ! )

This is a great package: extensive driver's upgrades wrapped up in slate grey with black sport seats (and passes CA smog!!). I'm tempted, but I'm emotionally attached to my silver-over-grey X50. I dropped it off to have the new PCCM+ screen with Apple Carplay installed -- it's amazing that we can add up-to-date OEM infotainment to the 996TT driving experience.

Good luck with the sale, and I hope the new owner enjoys it!

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@airbenz, yes, as far as I could tell, ( driving and looking in the rear view mirror ), the factory spoiler engages at speed as intended

  • airbenz (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Any updates if the rear spoiler operates as it should?

OK, I found the driving video, short as it is, and Pcar will post it shortly

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

FYI There are No 2nd gear pop out issues with my Porsche
Everything about the car is tight and right.

I will be at my phone and computer for the duration of the auction to answer any questions
Keep those bids coming and someone will have the opportunity to enjoy a hell of a Porsche.

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Userpatel, I appreciate you checking in. I don't believe I will be able to make a driving video before the auction closes later today. I did a driving video, it is on You Tube, however, it may be in my 2003 996, I will check shortly and if it was in this Porsche I will ask Pcarmarket to upload it
I do believe the rear spoiler works correctly.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@sportscarguy3 were you able to confirm anything? A driving video would be really helpful. I know there's not much time left.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

The car that sold in cars and bids is a 2003 model the transmission doesn’t tend to pop out of second gear on those because is an improved G50. This is still a great car.

  • Jorge924 (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Hugihard-J i hear the same noise in the idling video. Could be a bit of top end noise of exhaust rattle. hard to tell over a video to be sure.

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Userapatel good morning, still early here and Santa Rosa but just finding your comment and question
I’ve looked through the binder full of details frequently recently, trying to answer questions from other bidder / commenters , and don’t see anything related to the hydraulics on the rear wing spoiler included.
I’m going to go down to Storage, later today, and do another cold start and then warm engine start 30 minutes later to see about the condensation or puff of smoke that was mentioned
Perhaps I’ll get it out on the freeway which is 10 minutes from my storage and have a look at the rear wing at speed to see if it’s functioning properly I’ve never really noticed frankly
    Finally, this morning
Yes, I think your comment about the recent sale is related to cars and bids, a new southern California small auction site.
Thank you for the interest in my Porsche. and the question , To summarize no, I don’t see any mention of any work on the hydraulics of the rear wing and again I’ll take a look tomorrow and try to get it on the freeway at speed to confirm it’s working correctly

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Any knowledge of spoiler hydraulics being worked on?

Will be watching this as one just sold on cars and bids with the exact same mileage and similar mods for 55k, they seem to be coming back down to earth but it's still worth more than it was a few years ago and for good reason

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Ethandang , good morning, no worries, and thank you for the bid
If you’re interested, you can actually find my 2003 Porsche 996 TwinTurbo
I Purchased it on bring a trailer and you can go to that site. Click on results, click on Porsche, click on 996 TwinTurbo, and then take a minute or two and scroll back to June 15, 2022
Mine is the only seal gray metallic 996 TwinTurbo with a GT 2 wing

  • Ethandang (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@sportscarguy3 my apologies I did miss that. Thank you!

  • Ethandang 1 year, 4 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $45,000

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

PS as the auction ending day gets close don't forget my comments about our " local airport " here in Santa Rosa
An easy flight in and out and you are 15 minutes from seeing and having a drive in my Porsche
Santa Rosa California airport ( STS )

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Ethandang I tried to explain my ( selling ) situation in my introduction, however, if you missed that I will reiterate
    I own a 2003 996 TT ( purchased June 15 2022 on BaT from a Tampa Florida owner )
Happy with that Porsche but finding this 2002 with 20 K fewer miles and very nice upgrades and in Concourse condition I felt the purchase was worth it and I would just sell my 2003 back on BaT
Unfortunately the sale did not go well / happen and now I own 2 Porsche's
I am only able to own one so one has to go
That is the " why I am selling my 2002 Porsche " story again
    Good luck all

  • Ethandang (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Thank you for your detailed replies. Just curious as it seems this was transferred to you in April. Is there a reason it’s being sold so quickly after being purchased? Thank you

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Hugihard-J Good morning, I will cold start my Porsche again later today or tomorrow and look specifically for any smoke
I have not seen or remember any and if there was a puff I would believe it is condensation
Re " rattle " I will do another walk around myself however, the rattle you hear in the walk around subsided and as I mentioned in the details
I had a PPI performed prior to my purchase a few months ago and everything checked out well

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

    Hello, good morning all,
OK, Re ; GIAC engine tune. I actually found the guy that did the work ( Sherman Oaks California ) by the receipts
Work was done in 2012 and the shop owner remembers the car owner as " anal and just the kind of guy you would want to buy a car from " ( his words not mine )
The GIAC 650 tune is easily reversible, should you want to go there. that said everything is compliant and it all works together and works together well ( and is California smog legal as is )
The shop owner suggest that most any Porsche mechanic / shop and or certainly a Porsche dealership could reprogram / delete the GIAC 650 tune ( it would be a " one way deal though " )
Summary ; My Porsche runs incredibly well as is, comfortable, quick and feels great to drive I would leave it as is re; the tune
PS. Buyer will receive the binder full of documents, receipts and services so you could contact the shop owner, as I did this morning, for additional information

  • Hugihard-J (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Hi, start up video is that puff of blue smoke or condensation? also second video loud rattle, clatter from motor sounds a bit loud?

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Ethandang good morning, and thank you for the question and for the comments regarding my Porsche. listing
I believe you are correct that the GIAC tune is an ECU tune and can be flashed back to factory settings however, let me research it as I’m sure there’s information about it in the binder, full of receipts, services and documents
What, I can tell you with certainty is that my Porsche. currently passes California smog omissions, as is and has done so many times also documented with paperwork.

  • Ethandang (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Great photos and listing. Question regarding the tune as I haven’t had a tuned car before.

Is the GIAC just an ECU tune, which can be flashed back to “stock” when smogging the car in CA? I assume everything will pass considering this vehicle is currently registered in CA. Also if so, is the GIAC unit needed to do that included?

    Thank you

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

No I have a 2003 turbo triple black coupe. Racing wasn’t on a track just a regular road. I don’t race my cars in tracks anymore I’m past that stage but as soon as everything gets up to temperatures I’m letting them rip on the straightaways. No I wouldn’t buy an air cool because even in a 993 I can’t handle no more than 3 hours driving time. GLWTS

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@luis.seneriz good morning from here in California
I appreciate the reply and information, glad you have at least 1996 TwinTurbo however also I feel badly that you had a problem raising the Corvette
That is what I was trying to point out to the individual that asked about my coolant pipes being welded or pinned
Typically, unless you do race or track the car the coolant lines aren’t a problem
Regarding the vented left side of the airbox ; I Purchased it that way, so don’t know how it would drive or function if it wasn’t vented on both sides
What I can say is this Porsche is wicked quick and I would have to say faster than my 2003 996 TwinTurbo
But mostly it just feels tight, really tight and quick while my 2003 with 20,000 more miles on it just seems a little looser and not quite as tight for lack of a better phrase and tight being good very good thing
I wish you the best of luck with your 996 repairs

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@sportscarguy3. I love these cars, I only own an 03 turbo coupe, plus my 99 and three other cars. My car is black and it’s a pain to keep clean. Anyway I blew up something in the coolant system racing a corvette a few weeks ago. I’m waiting on my quotes but I’ll be towing the car to get some work done. I like must other car guys need more garage space. Does the vented air box works??

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@KY_502, looking through the booklet of receipts and services, I do not see that the coolant lines have been welded or pinned
The coolant system, including replacing the water pump. All hoses and related connections regarding the coolant system was done in 2015 at 38,000 miles.
The car has never been tracked and driven sparingly by the last two owners
My personal understanding, from information found through Porsche Club of America., Rennlist and the Internet is that unless the 996 twin turbos are tracked on a regular basis, a.k.a. pushed and driven hard to excessive heat, pinning or welding of the coolant lines Isn’t necessary.
Additionally, I had a PPI done prior to purchase, The Porsche. was given a clean PPI, and no leaks were noticed.

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@ptcaalhoun, I believe you’re correct, another, missed by me at proofing the listing but again something Pcarmarket should have noticed
I will reach out this morning and ask them to correct
Thank you for pointing out the discrepancy

  • ptcalhoun (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

The tires pictured and listed on attached receipts are not Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. They are Michelin Pilot Sport 2; i.e. PS2, the OE N-spec tire.

  • KY_502 (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

With all the increased power have the coolant lines been pinned?

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Cande83821, you are correct, these are Factory, 18 inch turbo twist wheels
I missed it when I read through the listing from Pcarmarket
I will notify them of the error and they will correct it

  • Cande83821 1 year, 4 monthsago

FYI, the wheels in the photos are 18” not 19”

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

    Hello All,
Looking thru the Note Book Binder full of receipts, documents and car details, I found the Exhaust performance upgrade receipt
    ( see in pictures )
Here they detail the benefits of the upgrades, performed to the OEM system, as well as the " projected " increased HP the Owner may expect / gain.
Hope this adds helpful information to the listing and @zollerm's question

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@luis.seneriz, always see your name when it comes to 996 TwinTurbo’s 🤙🏻😎
How many do you have these days?

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Hugihard-J, no, sir, there are no pictures of the rear end paint repairs, however, there is a receipt from the body shop for the work, $3000 plus or minus
That document is included in the binder of receipts and documents. I will try to find it and add it to the listing if possible.

  • sportscarguy3 (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@zollerm, unfortunately, I don’t believe there’s any record or details of the improved horsepower from the performance modifications
I will double check all the documents that I have to see if there’s something that refers to it in there
What I can tell you is, it is wicked quick, certainly quicker than my 2003
That said, I never really push it that hard, I always baby my Porsches.
Straight line speed has never been my fun factor. It’s always been about the performance and handling of a Porsche.

    Hello Porsche Fans and Others,
Tomorrow will be the first full day of auction for my 2002 Porsche 911 / 996 Twin Turbo.
I purchased this Porsche with the intention to keep it and sell my 2003 996 TT, this 2002 has 20 K fewer miles than my 2003.
Unfortunately that plan didn't go as drafted and I can only have one Porsche so one very fortunate Porsche enthusiast now has the opportunity to grab this handsome Porsche.
I am here to answer any and all questions to the best of my ability, so fire away !
    Finally this evening,
We now have a local airport ( large enough for jets ! ) here in Santa Rosa !
The airport ( STS ) is 15 minutes from my Porsche so don't hesitate to review flights in and out and come take a personal look .
    It's a hell of a Porsche !
    Good luck all !
    Steve
