Now up for auction is this 2002 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe finished in Guards Red over a black full leather interior deviated stitching. Equipped with a legendary 3.6 L twin turbocharged Mezger engine paired with a refined 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox, this 996 is a lifelong California car that was ordered new at an original sticker price of over $125k with some desirable exclusive options. Having recently undergone a full service including the installation of brand-new tires, this Turbo Coupe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with approximately 77k miles showing on the odometer.
The Guards Red finish is said to be in very nice condition while remaining entirely original, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX. The 996 Turbo is characterized by its wide fenders, rear side air intakes, revised bumpers, speed-activated rear spoiler, and 18” Turbo Twist wheels. This example has been recently equipped with a set of brand-new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.
Inside, you will find a premium black full leather interior with exclusive deviated stitching in red, Guards Red seatbelts, leather sun visors, and a 3-spoke leather steering wheel. Other factory exclusive options include an aluminum Tiptronic gear lever, stainless steel door entry guards with model logos, aluminum-look instrument gauges, and an aluminum inlay for the handbrake lever. Driver amenities consist of Tiptronic shift buttons for the steering wheel, a rear window wiper, 4-way electrically adjustable seats with lumbar support, a 6-disc CD changer and a Porsche CDR-220 radio. All factory specifications have been retained and the interior is described to be excellent condition with only minor signs of wear on the lower seat bolsters.
Power is derived from a 3.6 L twin turbocharged Mezger engine which traces its roots back to the legendary GT1 Le Mans car. All four wheels are driven through a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox that allows for a sprint from 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds while achieving a top speed of over 180 MPH. A full service is reported to have been carried out recently and this Turbo is said to be in fantastic driving condition while passing California smog requirements. All available maintenance history is provided on CARFAX including a 75k mile service carried out by Stevens Creek Porsche in 2018.
This sale will include a clean title. One of the most increasingly desirable water-cooled Porsches on the market, this Mezger-powered 996 Turbo presents an opportunity that is not to be missed.

Beautiful, great to see a non silver/black/gray Turbo!! Question for the seller and/or the community; I typically see the instrument cluster with Turbo across the tach when the car is a Turbo. 1) Is that an option? 2) Has the instrument cluster been replaced?

Looks like a nice car and really underpriced. I will need to check this one out a little further.

Folks should note this is the Tiptronic S, supplied under special collaboration between Porsche Motorsport and AMG Racing, for the 996/997.1 Turbos.
This is not the legacy ZF Tiptronic supplied in Carreras since the 964.
IMO (and Hurley Haywood's), the AMG Racing unit is far and away the superior transmission to grapple the 996/997.1 turbo's boost. Especially since the Tip S unit was designed by AMG for considerably more torque than standard 911 manual alternative.
These points are usually missed when evaluating an automatic Mezger Turbo. IE this is definitely not Grandpa's 964 Tip!
Absolutely gorgeous. So incredibly, astronomically rare to find a Skittle-colored Mezger Turbo in unmodified condition. GLWA!

@Velosolex this is a factory hood sticker, the car has original paint and vin stickers present
Following
Bid in the amount of $7,950
@RPMMotorCars - for sure, it's only a very minor point, but what happened to the hood sticker? Is it a replacement, or why are the lables on the left side missing? Is it the same in the service book?
@JohnPJensenWA944S2 my tech looked at it today and the coolant pipes look new but we cannot tell if they have been welded
@JohnPJensenWA944S2 let me check with my technicians on Monday. If anybody has any questions or wish to stop by our dealership to check out the car in person feel free to reach out to me.
