Equipped with a twin-turbocharged version of the GT3’s legendary Mezger engine, the Porsche 996 GT2 was the most powerful road-going 911 ever and saw a run of 1,100 examples built in total. This GT2 was originally specified with equipment for the European market and comes finished in Seal Grey Metallic over a black leather interior. It was ordered with optional Sport Seats, exclusive carbon fiber trim, Porsche crested headrests, and aluminum-look instrument dials. This GT2 had reportedly been with its previous owner for over a decade when it was acquired by the seller on PCARMARKET in April 2021. Having since received about $25k in engine-out service and preventative maintenance, this GT2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey showing approximately 41k miles on the odometer.

Based on the 996 Turbo, the GT2 features wide fenders with rear side air intakes as well as unique bumpers with larger air openings, side skirts, and a fixed rear wing. This example is finished in Seal Grey Metallic with matching 18” 911 Turbo wheels. Clear paint protection film has been applied over the front end and the car rides on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2021. The seller believes the front bumper to have been previously refinished and describes the exterior to be in excellent overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black leather interior is appointed with exclusive carbon fiber trim spanning the central air vent bracket, dashboard strip, and instrument surround. Other options include 2-way adjustable Sport Seats with Porsche crested headrests, a leather-covered ignition switch surround, and aluminum-look instrument dials. Yellow seatbelts have been installed by the current owner along with a new Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) system. Some cracking and signs of age are noted in the leather upholstery.

Rated at 456 HP and 457 lb.-ft of torque stock, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine drives the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The GT2 is equipped as standard with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and this example features an upgraded GMG performance exhaust system. The original exhaust is said to accompany the sale as well. Under the current ownership, a major engine-out service was completed including new seals and gaskets, pinned coolant lines, and a new clutch.

This sale will include a clean title.

@vengerider the vehicle can be registered and titled in the US. The car currently has a NJ title.

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 1 year, 12 monthsago

    @CholoGeo Probably not Sir
I wouldn't sell for less than purchased ( plus recent services )
These Porsches are only going in one direction ( imho ) UP !
    Good luck all

  • vengerider (registered bidder) 1 year, 12 monthsago

Can this be titled and registered in the US or is it subject to the 25 year rule?

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 1 year, 12 monthsago

Unfortunately, I can't make this happen, given my new 2003 996 TT purchase, although I would really like to.
Bidders, keep in mind that the Porsche was purchase for $ 116 K not long ago and... has extensive, engine out services, apparently costing $ 25 k !
Not sure that anything below the previous selling price will take this beauty home...
    Good luck all.

As we wind down to the final hours of the sale, I will be readily available to answer any questions or address any comments. Whether you've been naughty or nice this year, this would make a great present to put under the tree! Albeit, it would have to be a tree outside :-) Good luck to all and Happy Holidays!!

@sportscarguy3 I will contact our Porsche store in Monterey to see if they know anyone at Porsche of Marin to help facilitate, and expedite an inspection. In the meantime please use the "contact seller" option and provide me the Vin# for the vehicle. Thanks

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

    @DCHMontclairAcura Of course !
As I mentioned, I can provide VIN and after to speaking with the seller in Tampa FLA provide his contact information as well.
I have only owned the Porsche for a few months and am very happy with it frankly.
    To your question
I am located in Northern California, Sonoma County ( Santa Rosa area 95407 )
There are two or three very good, smaller Porsche shops here locally however, perhaps the easiest and best suited for this process would be Porsche of Marin, formerly Sonnen Porsche, in Mill Valley, California
Let me know what other information I may provide to assist
    Steve

@sportscarguy3 while we would entertain a trade-in, for a vehicle like this that wasnt local for us to look at, we would require a third party inspection. Where is the vehcile located?

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

    Hello seller
    I recently purchased a 2003 Porsche 996 TwinTurbo
The car is in excellent condition overall, seal gray, with 66,000 miles on it
I Purchased a car from a private seller in Tampa Florida who made some nice GT2 modifications including wing , shifter components, removal of the front drive system, custom, stainless steel exhaust and some other GT2 parts.
Additionally the car had a Marski engine tune.
For California smog and registration, I contact and Mark / Marski tunes, and he and I used His tuning computer that I have and came with the car to return the car to factory specs.
I also removed the custom stainless steel exhaust and installed the factory exhaust that also came with the car
Please let me know if you have any interest
I’m happy to provide the Vin and some pictures if you have any interest in perhaps trading or negotiating some kind of a deal for your GT 2

An updated DME report was added and a couple videos were submitted and should be posted soon. If there are any other requests, please let me know. I am still working on getting the paint meter readings done and a walk around video.

Good morning everyone and welcome to our auction of this 996 GT2. This car was purchased by us back in March of 2021 on P-Car for one of our employees of our company for their collection. While his intention was to keep the vehicle in his collection, some recent acquisitions forced a change in plans, and unfortunately this vehicle is one of the chosen ones that he needs to part with. He is very sad to see it go. You can see by the RO's posted, he put a lot of work into the vehicle in the short time he owned it with every intent on holding on to this vehicle and driving it. Obviously, with 41k miles, this is a drivers car. It is not a garage queen, although the exterior is in great condition.

To get it out of the way before someone comments, yes, there is a $799 dealer fee. Please keep that in mind when bidding. I always see lots of comments on dealer fees, and not sure why people have so many issues with it as it's disclosed upfront and should be factored in to your bid.

Lastly, I will be adding some photos with paint meter readings and an updated DME report as there was 1000 miles added since his acquisition of the vehicle. I'll also get a cold start video, with a walk around posted as soon as i can.

The vehicle is located at our dealership so if anyone is local and would like to look at the vehicle please feel free to do so. If you have any questions, please comment or message me and I'll get back to you in a timely manner.

Good luck to all and Happy Holidays!
