Up for auction is this 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera coupe presented in Carrara White over a Graphite Grey leather interior. With a full mechanical restoration performed by the master technicians at Vertex Automotive, this Carrera is fresh and ready to be enjoyed for years to come. Add on a few tasteful performance modifications and a 6-speed manual transmission and you have what is presented as a truly satisfying 996 Coupe. It is now being offered for auction in great overall condition by its seller out of Miami, FL.
The Carrara White finish on this C2 is said to remain in nice condition with some minor road going wear (detailed images are available in the photo gallery). This example rides on factory 18” light alloy Carrera wheels that wear a set of Dunlop HTR tires dated 2017 with plenty of tread life.
Inside, you will find a Graphite Grey leather interior that is said to remain in great condition. With an original MSRP of over $78k, this example came equipped with options such as: Supple leather seats, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), advanced technic package, and comfort package. The seller notes that the entire air conditioning system was recently serviced and is in great working order. All electronics are said to be working including the aftermarket Alpine head unit.
This 996 is equipped with a rear-mounted 3.6 L flat-six engine rated at 320 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a smooth 6-speed manual transmission resulting in a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds. Having recently undergone a mechanical restoration just 3 weeks ago this Carrera is said to be in excellent running condition and currently holds a 1-year engine warranty. A few noteworthy items that were addressed include:
While performing this rebuild, the technicians decided to enhance this Carreras performance by adding new upgraded control arms, new clutch kit, and new flywheel.
The sale will include a master key, books, and records of work performed.

@Katman90 We just submitted detailed images of both the front and rear seats. They are in very good shape. Better than most 996 I've seen. No major signs of wear and they feel great! Thanks for asking and good luck with the auction.

@JBoxerGT2 - We tend not to do a thorough cleaning of the undercarriage for the cars we sell. We use to do it until we got the skeptics saying "What are you trying to hide?". The engine it self is pretty clean since it was out. However, the transmission and the rest of the undercarriage remains as it was. It also gives the new owner something to do ;) If the winning bidder wants the transmission and undercarriage cleaned, we can work something out with them. Thank you for the nice comment! We try!
I know it's an older car and looks great , and with the rebuild and IMS, it is definitely a plus. But why leave all the old oil stains and grease? Would be nice if a rebuild included engine cleaning too, to complete the package. Nice car! Vertex rocks!
@VertexAuto @VertexAuto. Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, they do appear to be. Better ones of the bottom cushion & top/bottom side bolsters would be helpful though. Thank you.
@Katman90 Pictures #21-30 are almost exclusively of the seats, both front and rear. Is there a particular area that you would like to see? I can take those pics and upload them right away. Nothing to hide ;) They are in good shape.
A very nice car, but is there a reason you aren't providing photos better showing condition of the front seats both back & bottom cushion? Please provide them thank you.
Nice car with all the upgraded available tech in the build. If the IMS is mitigated then there is nothing else that needs immediate attention. These cars can go Into the 100 plus plus miles when well cared for.

EPS IMS * oh autocorrect
I had an EPS IME bearing installed on my newly purchased 2004 911 last year for all the virtues described by Vertex. I chose it because I felt it was a superior design that is intended to last the life time of the engine. I had my concerns with buying a 996 beforehand but once installed I have never worried about it since.
The white color looks awesome and contrary to popular opinion the Graphite interior is refreshing in a sea of black leather—Graphite will have its day again!
Good luck w the sale!
Wow, one of the nicest 996 cars I've every seen #needabiggergarage

Thank you Pcar Market community for looking at our auction on this very mechanically sound 2002 996. We are here to answer all your questions and can facilitate a test drive and/or PPI. We are also available for calls to discuss the car in detail.
For those that are not familiar with Vertex Auto, we have been servicing the Porsche community for over 30 years and have rebuilt hundreds of Porsche engines. We have a full parts department, service facility, and showroom. You can find out a bit more about us and read our customer reviews here shorturl.at/koJV0
Thank you all, and we look forward to all your questions.
@zdean808 This was a full engine rebuild, which we warranty for 1 full year. The car was acquired from a customer that called us for an engine rebuild due to a failed factory IMS bearing. After they heard the estimate of $16-17k for the rebuild and install, they decided to sell the car to us. We do several upgrades and modification to our rebuilt water cooled engines, including an EPS IMS bearing that is good for the life of the engine. This link has a full list of all we do during the rebuild. https://www.vertexauto.com/porsche-996-996-c4s-rebuilt-engine-36-l-years-02-04-p-12049.aspx
Aside from the engine rebuild, we also upgraded the front control arms with polyurethane bushings and a clutch kit that has 30% more contact surface. You can read about those here.

@VertexAuto, did this car have the bottom end rebuilt? If so, why.
@VertexAuto great, keep me posted.
@zdean808 I did notice that. It's also titled at 48,xxx. This was a clerical error when the car was titled in March. I can see about getting it corrected. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!
Can someone explain why the car fax shows 48,xxx miles in March of this year but now it's listed with almost double?
