The most high-performance and unadulterated road-going 911 of its time, the Porsche 996 GT2 is powered by a legendary twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. One of just 303 examples reportedly delivered to the United States, this 2002 GT2 is finished in Black over a matching interior and was optioned with aluminum instrument dials, a carbon fiber and leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, carbon and aluminum-accented shift and brake levers, and a silver-painted rear center console. Showing under 38k miles on the odometer, this rare 996 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Maryland.
Sporting the wide bodywork of the Turbo model, the 996 GT2 presents a unique front fascia and a prominent fixed rear spoiler. This example comes finished in Black and features standard yellow ceramic brake calipers set beneath 18” Turbo-Look II wheels. It rides on Michelin Pilot Sport tires mounted in April 2021 at 36,902 miles. The front bumper is said to have been professionally refinished in 2019 for cosmetic purposes, and one minor paint imperfection is noted on the hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, and the CARFAX report notes minor damage in 2006, 2011, and 2012.
This example presents a Black leather interior accented by carbon fiber and aluminum-finished shift and brake levers, black seatbelts, and black floor mats with Porsche lettering. Exclusive options consist of aluminum instrument dials, a silver-painted rear center console, a carbon fiber and leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, and metal door sills featuring model insignia. Other equipment includes automatic climate control, front bucket seats, and a standard rear seat delete. The seller states the instrument cluster was replaced in April 2021 due to the original oil measurement gauge malfunctioning.
Based on the 911 Turbo, the GT2 was engineered as the most uncompromising road-going 911 of its era. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six producing 456 HP and 457 lb-ft of torque. Over 10% more power than the standard Turbo was achieved using larger K24 turbochargers, increased compression, and higher boost pressure. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Standard equipment includes Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, as well as a lowered sport-tuned suspension and adjustable anti-roll bars. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported, and a collection of service documentation performed at Porsche of Tyson Corner in Virginia is provided in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for over 5,5 years and store it in a climate-controlled garage. All maintenance is up-to-date. The car is completely stock with a brand-new set of tires with only 818 miles on them.”

I am writing to provide additional details from 2015-2016 GT2 currently listed. This was my car during that period, and I sold it for $103,000, this being my bid.
I have the Carfax report from when the car was sold. It's worth noting that minor incidents, were not on the carfax report at that time. During my ownership we filled the license plate holes and repainted the front bumper, and fixed a curb scuff on one of the wheels. The wheels were subsequently powder-coated in hyper-silver; to my knowledge, these are the original wheels, specific to the GT2.
When I purchased the car, it had its original exhaust, which was later replaced with a Borla system. The original exhaust was reinstalled before the sale. The car was meticulously maintained and very clean both when I purchased and sold it.
As an enthusiast who typically keeps vehicles for a few years, I have owned 13 cars and 9 motorcycles since then, and I am currently working on a 930 Restomod. I never tracked the GT2, although I do track other vehicles. While I cannot speak for previous owners, the car's excellent condition and mileage suggest it was likely not tracked.
I am happy to share more information with potential bidders and can will provide the Carfax report or explore options to post it. I have not bid on PCarMarket before, but I have an active bidding and commenting history on Bring a Trailer under the username "@2100Babcock" and have sold bikes and cars through "@UDRIVE."

@Egamble3 - oh yes. I raced rear wheel drive cars at Summit Point and you just don't lift in a corner. 🤣
@mxtr55 Don’t forget the fact that these are rear wheel drive as well. All of these factors combine to make the Widowmaker! Beautiful car. GLWTS!
@merediad Thank you Mam. I had a 2002 Turbo and replaced that spoiler at least 3 or 4 times myself.

@JakeMacZ Thank you for your interest and your question, my late husband had the same question and has inquired about this cars history and the only damages he has found in the entire history of this car prior to purchasing it were frequent Front Lower Spoiler Lip and Front Lower Bumper Lip and Front Lower Bumper Trim Replacements due to previous owners getting it scraped. No other damages has he been able to learn about prior to his purchase. I wish I could elaborate more on the CARFAX Minor damage reports.

Agree with everything Scott mentioned below. The GT2 is an incredibly capable car and an impressive balance between a composed daily and an absolute animal when driven aggressively. Add timeless design and this model is still seriously underrated. Good luck with the sale! Excited to see where this car ends up.
I am sorry for your loss. I am from Maryland originally (Frederick), now Florida. I have two 996 turbos one being an X50. Would love to add to my collection. The GT2 is known as the Widow Maker due to the sudden turbo lag kicking in. I know the people at Tysons.
Do you have any sense of the 'minor' damages addressed in 2006, 2007 and 2012?

Good luck with the auction. The car looks amazing. Concur with the comment that 38k miles is nothing on these Mezgers. I’ve had my 996 gt2 for just over a year now, and it is hands down, by far, the best car I’ve ever owned. I love my 3.9 996 gt3 too, but there is just something about these early gt2’s that make them super fun to drive. I’ve had and currently have other cars that do certain things better, but none of my past or current flings (including several gt3’s and turbos, gated Lambo, 430 scud, etc) have compared to the gt2 as an all round, do everything sport car. A weapon on the track, top end torque monster for the freeway, sufficiently docile around town that one could daily it, and still a relative bargain compared to other rare Mezgers. Just an amazing, all round great sports car. Add in the rarity and reliability, and I have no doubt these will be SUPER expensive and sought after before long. Someone is going to be very happy!

@TheMoose The DME readings have been taken on Sept. 27th 2025 at 3:24pm with the odometer reading 37,722 at 1,976.8 engine operating hours in preparation for this auction. It hasn't been driven or revved up since.
@TheMoose Thank you for your interest and your question. I am not aware of the vehicle ever being outside the US. The CARFAX supports my knowledge of only being in the US. While it has been with us, it has only been in the US.
Also, when were the DME readings taken in time? Am I right in that they were 1,750 miles or so ago?
Bid in the amount of $37,722
I'm sorry for your loss and the circumstances surrounding the sale of this and other cars. Do you know if this car been in the US all it's life or has it been exported outside for a period of time?
Bid in the amount of $30,911
@Tx911 All tires have been replaced at Porsche Tyson Corner in Virginia in April 2021 and have only 818 miles on them. You can find that information in the provided documents as well. You are seeing photos on here that have been taken a PCARMarket approved photographer as well as few that we have taken before. Thank you for pointing it out. I am not sure why they were included in the collection of photos, it may have been because it is a different angle of the front of the car.
Why are the tires in pic 12 and 14 different than the Michelins in later pics?
@vengerider 1 key. I will post photos tomorrow.
@merediad I am sorry for your loss and circumstances for the sale. When you can, please provide paint meter readings and also under the hood by the options sticker. Also, do you have 2 keys or just 1?
@merediad just finding your message to another bitter interested party about your husbands passing
My condolences
As I mentioned, this seems like a well sorted, low mileage, special, Porsche, I’m sure it will do well
And good luck
@vengerider There were no accidents or repaints that I know of. The only thing that I am aware of is that the front bumper has been repainted professionally in 2019 at Europros in Gaithersburg MD. Only for cosmetic tidiness.
@sportscarguy3 Thank you for your feedback.
@Autotrend I am sorry about that. Yes, we have the Owners Manuals and Books that come with it. I have uploaded the photos. The black pouch that hold the books is peeling and black little pieces of the faux leather are coming off though.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@vengerider Thank you for your interest and your questions. I am going to provide paint meter readings tomorrow. I don't have any details about the 3 CARFAX incidents. The clutch and the window regulators operate without any issues. I don't have any other records or window stickers. This car has been stored on a lift in our garage with other Porsches - my husband has been a Porsche collector and has only purchased Porsches in perfect working condition on here and PCA. He passed away in 2023 and I have decided to sell his collection. We have also sold a 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster last week. He cared for his cars with great care.
do you have the owners manuals and books that come with the car?
@merediad Last question! Picture 92 looks like the underside of the hood was painted pretty thick and the options sticker was put on wet paint....Is that right? Lots of texture to the paint. Maybe better pictures?
Looks like a very clean example of the special 996 GT 2 !
38K miles is nothing for this motor. Not even really broken in yet in my humble opinion.
The Turbo twist wheels look good on the car, and other than the CARFAX damage incidents looks like a solid Porsche
Good luck all
Bid in the amount of $25,000
@merediad Can you post paint meter readings? Any information on the 3 Carfax incidents? I would gather no previous records or window sticker? Is the clutch still good and are the window regulators operating at 100%?
