Equipped with a 3.6-liter flat-six engine driving all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, this 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S Coupe is finished in Seal Grey Metallic over Graphite Grey full leather. It was further configured with supple leather, front seat lumbar support, the Advanced Technic Package, and more. Within the last 500 miles, comprehensive service was performed, including replacement of the IMS bearing, rear main seal, clutch, flywheel, coil packs, spark plugs, and air/oil separator, an oil and filter change, and more. Showing less than 77k miles on the odometer, this C4S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Wisconsin.
Compared to a standard 996 Carrera, the 4S sports wider fenders, Turbo-style bumpers, red brake calipers, and a unique reflector band spanning between the taillights. This Coupe is finished in Seal Grey Metallic and rides on factory 18” 911 Turbo wheels with optional colored Porsche crests. Self-dimming mirrors with a rain sensor were also selected, while bi-xenon headlights are included in the Advanced Technic Package. The seller notes slight paint imperfections on the bumpers, as well as minor scuffs on the front lip. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Graphite Grey full leather with matching floor mats. Factory options include supple leather, front seat lumbar support, and the Advanced Technic Package, which added a Bose sound system and 6-disc CD changer. Standard equipment consists of a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The seller notes some wear, including bolster wear on the driver’s seat, and areas on the center console, parking brake, and around the ignition switch where the black finish is visible beneath the grey coating.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine factory-rated at 320 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque, driving all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The Carrera 4S also shares its brakes and suspension with the Turbo model. In preparation for the sale, service included replacement of the clutch, flywheel, IMS bearing, rear main seal, coil packs (updated design), spark plugs, air/oil separator with associated hoses, valve cover and cam seals, and the right-front radiator, along with an engine oil and filter change. The seller notes that the bump stops on the struts are deteriorating due to age.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, and a battery charger.
The seller would like you to know: “Here's your chance to get into a 996 without having to worry about the IMS bearing. This car has been nicely reconditioned for its future owner! Previously kept as part of a large collection. The current owner purchased this example in late 2020 and it has been driven approximately 4,500 miles since.”

With all of the recent engine work, were the camshafts within the +/- 6% tolerances?
Bid in the amount of $32,000
@P911_996_928 I do not have any service records other than what is on the Carfax, unfortunately. I will note, however, that the vehicle has 36 service records on the Carfax - meaning it was into a shop for service every 2,131 miles, on average. We did not see any sludge while we had the valve covers removed, or anything else that would lead us to believe that oil changes were skipped or otherwise ignored.
This car appears to have been taken good care of.
Any actual history or service receipts included, as the oil change intervals on the CarFax reports are excessive.

We have only a few hours to go before this gorgeous car finds a new home! A few things to note, before the auction concludes.
1. If you are a Wisconsin resident, you will be paying sales tax and title on the vehicle. For non-residents, you will take care of that in your home state.
2. We are more than happy to store the vehicle indoors at our facility while you arrange shipping.
3. If you want to fly in and drive home, we are happy to provide transportation from the local airport (MSN) back to the shop. It'd be a great road trip to the car's new home!
4. If you have any questions in the next few hours, shout them out! I'll be in front of my computer, and can get photos or videos of anything you may want to see.
Good luck and happy bidding!

A cold start video for you folks on this Sunday afternoon. This vehicle has been parked for roughly 20 hours (since yesterday's driving video was filmed):

@Ksdaoski Happy to let you take it for a spin, and get it up in the air for you! Stop by during normal business hours next week.
@Smirnov LN Engineering suggests replacing the IMS bearing every 7 years or 75k. The bearing was last replaced in 2018; out of an abundance of caution, we replaced the bearing during the rear main seal job.
There are no big-ticket items coming up that I am aware of, but someone will likely eventually want to take care of the deteriorating bump stops (and replace the struts at the same time, as they have to come off). This is not anything that will prevent the next owner from driving and enjoying the vehicle as-is. The rest of the suspension and steering system feels tight, and we are not seeing significant deterioration in the various control arm bushings, etc.
Available for inspection and test drive? not inspection/taking it to a shop....I just mean looking it over in person. Thanks

@Edelweiss_Autowerks thx.
It sounds like the big ticket items were all taken care of recently. Was the IMS done twice? Is that normal?
In your opinion are there any big ticket items coming up on this particular car? Suspension perhaps?
Thanks.
@rmarchant I'm not seeing anything that would make me suspect it's been smoked in. No cigarette burns, no ash, no unpleasant odor.
Has the vehicle ever been smoked in?
Pop some popcorn and get comfortable, we have a driving video for you!

@Smirnov We represent the seller during these transactions - if you check out our selling history over the last few months, you'll see other instances of us offering this service for clients. The transaction will be conducted between the seller and the purchaser, at the conclusion of the auction.
There is no rust anywhere that I've found on the vehicle.
The transmission shifts smoothly - it feels like any other 996 I've driven over the years.
The rough-running concern was due to the cracked original coil packs, which were replaced with the updated style.
No signs of bore scoring are present - I will have a technician pull the plugs and sneak the camera in on Monday, to get some photos for potential bidders.
Just wondering, are you selling on behalf of the owner or did you guys acquire the car and are now selling it? I see that you are the Porsche shop that works on the car.
Is there any rust present on the vehicle?
Are there any issues with the transmission?
Is the engine still running rough as per your notes or did the large repairs fix this issue?
Any sign of bore scoring on this car?

hey there, do you have picture of receipts of the recent service work that was done? Any driving videos available?
Thanks.
@asfarr86 Hello! The buyer will be supplied with service records for the recent service work, with the exception of the AOS replacement (that was performed by the owner's in-house technician). The tires are dated coded 2019 and 2020.
Just bought a 2002 996 Targa. These are wonderful driving cars.
Bid in the amount of $9,996
Do all the service records come as well? What are the tire date codes?
