This 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet comes finished in Seal Grey Metallic over a black leather interior and features the Comfort Package, Advanced Technic Package, Design Package, and Heated Front Seats Package. This Carrera was initially delivered to Jaguar of Huntington in New York where it remained until arriving in California in 2004. This 2002 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This example comes finished in Seal Grey Metallic and had reportedly been repainted in its factory-specified color under previous ownership. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top and optional 18” light-alloy Carrera wheels which have been finished in black and paired with aftermarket center caps. It rides on Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires from 2012. The seller reports the convertible top requires new cylinders and the rear passenger window requires a new window regulator to work properly. Several imperfections are noted throughout the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing cosmetic damage in 2003 and 2008.
The Black partial leather interior is said to have been reupholstered and features the optional Design Package (P71) which adds aluminum-look instrument dials, aluminum inlays for the gear selector and brake handle, and stainless-steel door entry guards with Carrera designations. Additional options include the Front Heated Seats Package, the Comfort Package (P01) which adds power-adjustable seats with memory functions and adjustable lumber support, and the Advanced Technic Package which adds headlight washers, the HiFi Sound System, and Litronic headlights. The seller adds the stereo is currently inoperable and the steering wheel clock spring was replaced.
The second-generation 996 Carrera 4 equips a 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivering up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller states a replacement engine with 81,127 miles was sourced from a donor car and installed under previous ownership, and the IMS bearing, oil separator, and coolant tank have been replaced. The CARFAX report shows a total of 19 service history records dating back to the initial delivery.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I came into possession of the car 2 years ago. I love the car and have enjoyed driving along the California coast. I'm selling the car because I am building a guest house in my backyard to help me pay the mortgage and I need some mula to start the project. I'm sad to leave this car behind and hope that whoever is meant to be with her will take care of her and enjoy her as much as I have. Before I came into possession of her she had a new engine put in. The engine had 81127 when put in. You can call Euro Spec for IMS bearing verification. Please see the paperwork in the photos to confirm this. 23k spent. The previous owner also repainted the car to make it look tip-top. The car was painted the same color. I recently replaced the coolant bottle and the oil separator. This was really expensive. I also put a new clock spring in the steering wheel. This car runs really nicely and I've put the right work into the car to ensure its longevity as I love it. There are two repairs that need to be done. The rear passenger window needs to be replaced, and the convertible rams need to be replaced to get the top down. If you put about 5k into doing these two repairs you'll be set for a long time!”

To all bidders, the seller has decided to address a maintenance item before the car finds its next owner. This auction will be postponed and relisted in the near future once the maintenance is complete.
nice car! to verify, does the sale include the hardtop and its stand? was the hardtop repainted at the same time as the car? why was the motor replaced? thanks in advance.
@Mercyhealth Hi this car needs about 5 k of work to replace the cylinder rams of the convertible top and the window regulator of the rear Passenger window.-The tiny triangle window. The engine is in tip top shape and is like driving a new car because the engine was replaced. This car is going to last a long time! I’ve taken good care of it, and done all necessary work as it’s come up to make that happen.
Good news this is a no reserve car.
Bad news with all the known needed work and probably some other unknown the ultimate sale will bring another low price data point for the 996.
