Up for auction at no reserve is this 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Metropol Blue partial leather interior. For the 2002 model year, the 996 Carrera received updated headlights derived from the Turbo model as well as a larger, more powerful 3.6L flat-six engine. This example came factory optioned with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Advanced Technic Package, Heated Front Seats Package, 18” light-alloy wheels, and leather/aluminum trimmed shifter and brake handles. It was acquired by the current owner in 2019 and has been recently treated to an IMS bearing upgrade, water pump replacement, new brakes, a new cabriolet top, and refinished wheels. Currently showing just over 90k miles on the odometer, this 996 is being offered for auction by its owner out of Illinois.
The Carrera comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a brand new Metropol Blue cabriolet top. The car remains true to its original appearance and the seller reports only a few minor cosmetic imperfections throughout the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a CARFAX report showing damage to have occurred to the rear end in 2011. The factory 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels feature optional colored Porsche center crests and come dressed in Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires dated from 2017 and 2014.
Inside, this Cabriolet features a Metropol Blue partial leather interior with heated front seats as well as a shifter and brake handle trimmed in leather and aluminum. The optional Advanced Technic Package also adds an 11-speaker Bose audio system, remote CD changer, high-pressure headlamp cleaners, and projector beam Xenon headlights. Minor signs of wear are present, and the seller reports the cabin to remain highly original with all gauges and accessories working properly.
This 2002 Carrera is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine that delivers up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. At about 88k miles, an IMS bearing upgrade was carried out along with the replacements of the water pump, ignition coils, brakes pads, and rotors. The seller states that service records are available dating from the previous ownership up until the present.
This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, a car cover, cabin wind deflector, and a clean title. The seller adds that owners 6,7, and 8 shown on CARFAX were all the same individual who had moved several times during their ownership. An excellent choice for any enthusiast in search of a 6-speed Porsche 996, the 2002 Carrera Cabriolet is not to be overlooked.

Yes, glass with defrost
The rear window is glass, correct?
@997.1TTcab DAN! So nice to hear from you. Thank you for your clarifications. Please, please come to Naperville to visit. I would not be selling our wonderful car, except for previously explained bad 914 purchase. I love the car and with new convertible top and the refinished wheels looks even better than when you sold it to me. It’s awesome.
Hi Kevin, et al, I’m Dan, owner 6,7,8; actually the 3rd owner really. 2nd owner also titled it in different states, which doesn’t register correctly with CarFax. I sold this one, my first Pcar, to get my 997.1.5 turbo. Wife wasn’t hip on me having two! Great car, no problems. I miss it. Happy Bidding!

@luis.seneriz Thanks so much
These are the cars that I prefer. Drivers with a ton of maintenance already done. My early 99 coupe is getting close to 98,000 miles and I
Bought it with 91. This car seems like a similar example, but a convertible, love the fact that it has a brand new top. Yes my mechanic told me to stay away from cabs , but I’ll buy one at the right price. GLWTS.

@Bilinski4447 Sorry, that was the longest Baptism Ceremony and Party that I’ve ever been to.
Anyway, yes have receipt and it looks like about $2,700 for the IMS portion of that bill. Again, at the same time, Water Pump, Drive belt, Ignition coil and spark plugs were done, as well.
@Bilinski4447 Hi, yes, I have receipt. I’m headed out right now. I’ll be back in a couple of hours with response.
Do you have the receipts for the work listed? Especially the IMS work. What was the cost of the work if I may ask.
@Txporsche please see my previous response, as well. But, I should add that the Clutch works perfectly. Shifting is smooth, etc.. all good.
Bid in the amount of $16,500
@Txporsche thanks so much for your comments. These cars are so fun! According to the service records that I have, at the time of the IMS, the Water Pump, Drive Belt, Ignition Coil and Spark Plugs were also replaced. I cannot find any mention of any Clutch work.
Bid in the amount of $15,500
These are great cars. I have a 2003 C4 Cab in the same colors. Top and leather on this car are actually navy blue which is a great look with silver. Was the clutch upgraded at the same time as the IMS? That is usually done particularly with this mileage. There are very few problems with these 996’s. They are terrific drivers and can go much faster than most of us are capable of handling. Good luck.

Hi All,
I'm excited to see how this auction progresses and to get to know the future owner of this fabulous car. As stated in the Ad, this car needs nothing and is such a pleasure to drive and be around. I would not be selling it, except for a terrible situation that I got myself into on an EBay purchase of Porsche 914. Yikes, misrepresented problem, now with the engine out.
Need to spend more money than anticipated! Happy bidding and please don't hesitate to ask questions, etc.. Thanks, Kevin
