Now up for auction is this 2002 Chevrolet Corvette C5 Z06 finished in Torch Red over a red and black leather interior. Deriving its namesake from the original high-performance Z06 C2 of the 1960s, the C5-generation Z06 was debuted in 2001 with a new LS6 V8 engine along with upgraded suspension, larger wheels and tires, revised gearing ratios, functional brake cooling ducts, and 6-speed manual transmission as standard. This one-owner example comes equipped with desirable options including a titanium exhaust system, a head-up display, the Z06 memory package, and electrochromic power heated mirrors. This Z06 is now being offered for auction by its original owner out of Connecticut while showing under 15k miles on the odometer.
This Z06 comes finished in Torch Red and features a fixed roof panel, pop-up headlights, Z06 fender badges, quad exhaust outlets, and factory-optioned body side moldings. The car is said to have been garage-kept from new and only driven under ideal weather conditions. Additional photos are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This example rides on factory 17″/18″ GM Speedline Z06 wheels dressed in their original Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.
The cabin is trimmed in red and black leather with Z06 embroideries in the headrests. Amenities include a power-adjustable driver’s seat with position memory, automatic climate control, a head-up display, power windows, electrochromic power heated mirrors, and a tilting leather-wrapped steering wheel. The cabin is described to have been kept in very good original condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.
For 2002, the LS6 engine received an increase in power resulting from a larger air intake, stiffer valve springs, lighter sodium-filled valves, and more aggressive timing. The 5.7L V8 in this example offers a 10.5:1 compression ratio and an output of up to 405 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The seller notes that all maintenance has been carried out in accordance with Chevrolet’s recommended intervals with the most recent service being an oil and filter change in July 2021.
This sale will include the original owner's manuals and sales documentation, a set of two keys, one remote key fob, a tire inflator kit, and a clean title. One of the most visceral driver-oriented Corvettes of the modern era, this low mileage one-owner Z06 offers an opportunity that is not to be missed.
