Representing the 3rd generation of BMW's legendary M5 sports sedan, the E39 is commonly regarded as one of the greatest BMWs of all time showcasing the revered S62 V8 engine, impressive performance capabilities, and a host of luxurious features within its understated bodywork. This 2002 example was factory optioned in Sterling Grey Metallic over a Black and Imola Red leather interior and equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. Cared for by its second owner for over 15 years, this meticulously maintained M5 is now being offered for auction showing approximately 82k miles on the odometer.
This E39 was factory finished in Sterling Grey Metallic and rides on factory 18" Style 65 wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S mounted approximately 10k miles ago. M5-specific details include Shadowline trim and revised bumpers, side skirts, trunk lid spoiler, aerodynamic mirrors, and quad exhaust outlets. Additional features include xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, and M5 badging on the trunk lid and side moldings. The seller adds that a QTechniq ceramic coating has been applied with 4 years of warranty remaining, a set of matching OEM wheels in good condition will accompany the sale, and minor signs of road wear are noted along with a slight ding and scrapes to the underside of the side molding. A recent inspection report carried out by an authorized BMW dealer shows that an aftermarket driver's side rearview mirror has been fitted providing a distorted view, and the front bumper grille has minor damage which has not been attended to. The detailed report is provided in the gallery along with detailed images and a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin of this E39 is upholstered in Black and Imola Red leather and features M5-badged door sills, an M-branded gear shift lever, and an M Sport multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel. Amenities include power-adjustable and heated seats with memory function, automatic climate control, and a factory navigation system. The seller adds that an aftermarket shifter has been fitted, and the original shifter will accompany the sale.
The E39 M5 houses a 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine with double-VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, hollow camshafts, and a quasi-dry-sump lubrication system. The S62 produced up to 394 HP and 369 lb.-ft of torque when new, and allowed the M5 to reach 60 MPH from a standstill in as little as 4.8 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Getrag 420G 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Compared to the standard 5-Series, the M5 also received revised spring rates, a lowered ride height, model-specific shock valving, thicker sway bars, Servotronic power steering, an upgraded clutch, heavy-duty rubber bushings, and upgraded front wheel bearings. The seller adds that the clutch pedal, bushings, master cylinder module, and adapter harness were replaced in 2010, and the brake master cylinder and disc were replaced in 2019. Service in 2020 included replacements to the valve cover gasket, input shaft seal, pinion shaft seal, and crankshaft oil seal. The seller also adds that an inspection report was carried out by an authorized BMW dealer in January 2023, and all mechanical areas of concern were met including the GIUBO/joint disc, muffler hanger, and battery cable bracket. The detailed inspection report is provided in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title and an additional set of matching wheels. The CARFAX shows an erroneous mileage report in April of 2022 and a false miles-per-year recording during the latest ownership.

@chujason1219 Agreed. I had a error on a carfax before and they were prompt to correct it. @chujason1219
@MBLocal Did you get a chance to view the u-tube inspection video? It was a good view of the passenger side skirt scuff. My car is located in my office garage so do not have quick access to it but can get a picture of that and the two other requested pictures tomorrow.
Thanks for your comment and interest.
Great looking car - any chance you could post a couple additional photos of the passenger’s side skirt scuff, the fuel filler area and the driver’s seat bolster?

@chujason1219 I will - no idea how anyone could have come up with 801,000 miles on the car...
Thanks
Seller,
You should contact Coggin BMW to contact carfax and fix the odometer reading. They would be able to do that easily. GLWS!
Hi and welcome to the auction. Not much else I need to say about this car other than what is already in the listing. However, one of the attributes that I love most about this car is the way it sounds and feels when going through the gears. - can't show that in a picture and there is nothing else like it. If you have any questions, I am happy to answer as quickly as possible. Good luck and enjoy!
