The fourth-generation BMW 5 Series, internally referred to as the E39, was introduced in 1997. In 2001, the 530i took over from the 528i, slotting in as a mid-range offering between the 525i and the V8-powered 540i. This 2002 example comes finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over Gray leather and features a 5-speed manual transmission, the Sport, Premium, and Cold Weather packages, xenon headlights, a sunroof, 17” Style 42 allow wheels, and more. Showing under 87k miles on the odometer, this 530i is now being auctioned by its seller out of Colorado.
This 530i showcases a Titanium Silver Metallic finish complemented by Shadowline trim, a feature included in its Sport Package. It boasts xenon Extreme Contact Sport. The seller highlights minor chips and scratches on the front end, some of which have been touched up, as well as a ding on the driver-side fender. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, along with a CARFAX report detailing front-end damage sustained in July 2003. Notably, the front bumper was replaced with a new OEM part in April 2023, and both the front and rear bumpers underwent repainting in February 2024 due to separate incidents involving shopping carts.
Inside, the interior features heated and power-adjustable front seats trimmed in Gray leather complemented by Vavona high-gloss wood interior trim, power sunroof, integrated garage door opener, rain-sensing windshield wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and on-board computer as part of its Premium Package. Additional amenities comprise driver-seat position memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a CD stereo, and front black rubber floor mats. While the seller reports some creases on the seats and minor wear on interior touch points and trim panels, the interior is otherwise free of rattles or squeaks, with all gauges and electronics working properly.
Power is derived from a 3.0-liter inline-6, delivering up to 225 HP and 214 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller has provided detailed information on the vehicle’s maintenance. Notable services include the replacement of the alternator in August 2019. In November 2020, at 76,242 miles, drive belts were adjusted, engine oil and filter were changed, and spark plugs and power steering hoses were replaced. Similarly, in March 2020, at 76,025 miles, comprehensive maintenance was conducted, including engine oil and filter change, replacement of various components such as oil filter gasket, belts, tensioners, and wipers, and flushing of brake fluid, power steering fluid, and transmission fluid. Throughout 2021 and 2022, routine oil changes and component replacements continued, addressing issues such as battery replacement, A/C system recharges, and sunroof leak repairs. Most recently, in March 2024, the rear brake light bulb was replaced, adding to the ongoing efforts to maintain the vehicle's functionality and safety.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, a set of 16” OEM wheels, a battery charger, sales brochures, a maintenance log with service records, a front license plate holder, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “ "In the interest of full disclosure - I had this car recently posted on another site as a no-reserve auction. I had all intentions of completing the sale, but four days after the auction - the buyer started asking to have a third party see the vehicle and was not going to fund the purchase until that was completed. Keeping in mind that the auction was completed and all due diligence needed to be completed before the auction concluded. The other site said they would talk to the new buyer to complete the sale, but frankly, I was disappointed with how the auction engagement and process went, and I decided to cancel the sale, take the ban, and pay the buyer's fee. This car has a nominal and market-correct reserve, and I will advise when the reserve is met! Thank you for checking out my 2002 BMW E39. This is truly the best car I have ever owned, and it will be sorely missed after the auction! I bought this car from Cars&Bids in the fall of 2020 following the adage of buying the prior owner as much as the car. The prior (first) owner also loved this car and included a comprehensive (as far as I can tell) service history of every item the car needed. When I took delivery, I cataloged everything and would bring the completed binders to service appointments so the tech could see what was done in the past. Every item recommended by the service team, I complied with as I wanted this 20+ year-old car to be as reliable and drive as well as a new one. All documentation from the day the car was delivered to now is included with the sale - the promotional postcards are a fun touch! Anecdotally, the car never went through a car wash with the prior owner, and I have continued that trend and always hand washed - the paint is beautiful with no noticeable swirl in either the paint or exterior trim. The interior is odor-free and has no staining. There is a little bit of wear on a few of the high-touch trim on the driver's side (but no seat twist!). Besides my son’s car seat - I don’t know if anyone has ever sat in the back! I am selling because I always wanted a Porsche 911, and bought a beautiful 2008 C4S with 6MT late last year. The deal I made with myself was I would sell the E39 as I did not need two fun cars, and my spouse does not like to drive manual - and we did not need 4 cars for the two of us. This car will be sold and will make the next owner very happy. It is dialed in and is ready for the commute or be a weekend toy, or even your blank canvas if building the ultimate autobahn cruiser. Please ask questions or DM me and I will respond as soon as possible!”
