Finished in Slate Grey Metallic over a Grey Natural Leather interior, this 2001 Porsche 986 Boxster S features a 5-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission paired with a 3.2-liter flat-six engine. Purchased by the seller about 4 years ago, this 986 is now being offered for auction out of Arizona with approximately 124k miles showing on the odometer.
This 986 is finished in Slate Grey Metallic and is distinguished as an “S” model by its red brake calipers and dual center-mounted exhaust tips. Equipment includes a removable body-colored hardtop, a power-operated black convertible top, fog lights, integrated side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual roll hoops, and 17” Boxster S wheels dressed in 255/40 Falken tires. The seller notes cosmetic imperfections including a scratch on the trunk lid and a crack and yellowing on the rear window. The CARFAX report shows moderate damage was sustained in 2016 and a salvage/rebuilt title was issued by the state of Arizona in 2024.
The black interior includes power-operated seats, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, a remote central locking system, an onboard computer, a CD storage compartment, and an AM/FM/CD stereo. The seller indicates a check engine light is present with the fault code “P1341”.
Rated at 250 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. Stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and ventilated discs at each corner. The seller notes the engine oil was recently changed and all known service history is provided on the CARFAX report.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a removable hardtop, and a salvage/rebuilt title.

Sold for $4,000
Thank you @ericrahman! Good battle my friend, looking forward to enjoying my first ever Boxster :)
All yours. Good car for 4k. Top alone is worth 2k, so you're getting a branded title boxster S with a CEL for a few grand. Drive it until the wheels fall off!

Auction ends today!!! I can also work with the buyer for transport, within reason. Perhaps meet in Tucson or Phoenix for ease of pick up or transport.
@sjburns123 Resolving the P1341 code could come at considerable cost. That and the salvage title is restraining the bidding. The IMS too.
@sjburns123 Thanks for the vote of confidence and I agree. Fingers crossed.

Definitely not going to sell for just $750.
I know most of the bids come in at the end, but $750?? Right now it looks as though someone is going to get a whole lot of car for not a whole lot of $$. These can easily go over 200k miles if taken care of. And this one looks like that is the case. The hardtop alone is worth well over $2k. Good luck seller.

@hisprps I did not get the CEL code worked out as I just don't have the time and need to sell the car.
I loaded several new videos: top operational, cold start, and two driving (performance) videos.

Have you sorted out the fault code P1341? The code is for the actuator or solenoid. Can you provide a cold start & driving video?
@automotiveartist I don't think there is any frame damage, only cosmetic. No indication that the IMS has been done.

I believe single with what I have read. It also says low mileage are more at risk of breaking, and high mileage are better for IMS issues, as they would have already broken or seized.
Is it a single row or double row barring ?
Was there any frame damage in the accident? Was the IMS done at all. What is the build date on the car?
I posted two more photos of the hard top. These sell online for approximately $2,000 - $4,000 by themselves.
Hey Enthusiasts!!!
My name is Chris and I purchased this car about four years ago for my aging mother, as she wanted a convertible (I know sounds like a story). She didn't drive it very often and returned it to me. If you look at the Car fax that will explain the ownership and mileage. Anyway, need to minimize how many cars we have (2003 911 C4S and 2000 911 Rally project. This is a great car and I will answer as many questions as I can about its condition.
Good Luck
Thanks
Chris
