Available for auction is this 2001 Porsche 986 Boxster S finished in Biarritz White over a Graphite Grey partial leather interior. Being an “S” model, this 986 Boxster comes equipped with a larger 3.2L flat-six engine along with a more sport-oriented suspension setup and upgraded braking system. This example is said to have undergone numerous service items within the last year including an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing, clutch kit, water pump, drive belt, and a new convertible soft top. With just under 65k miles currently showing on the odometer, this Boxster S is being offered for auction by its owner out of Colorado.
This Boxster S is finished in Biarritz White with a black convertible soft top. The seller notes a small touchup on the passenger side door as well as a few small chips and license plate mounting holes on the front bumper; additional photos are provided in the gallery. CARFAX shows minor damage to have occurred to the roof in 2017 prior to the seller’s ownership, and a new convertible soft top has been installed within the last year including a glass rear window and defroster. Compared with a standard Boxster, this Boxster S features grey front air intake grilles, a matte silver rear emblem, and dual tailpipes located in the center of the rear valence. This 986 rides on upgraded 18" Porsche Sport Design wheels wrapped in Sumitomo tires showing date codes from 2016.
Inside, you will find a well-presented Graphite Grey and black partial leather interior with power-adjustable seats, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The seller notes that the original Porsche radio has been upgraded to a newer Kenwood stereo with a USB outlet and Bluetooth connectivity. Minor creasing has been reported on the driver’s seat along with scuffs on the back of the headrests and a few small imperfections on the center console as depicted in the photo gallery. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly at this time.
Power comes from a mid-mounted 3.2L flat-six engine that sends up to 250 HP to the rear wheels by way of a desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Compared with the standard model, the Boxster S offers more sport-oriented suspension tuning and larger brakes with red-painted four-piston monobloc calipers and cross-drilled discs. This example benefits from an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing installed by Auto Werks East of Colorado within the last year. During the time of the IMS bearing upgrade the seller also opted to install a new Porsche clutch kit, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, and an OEM Porsche flywheel. Other notable recent service items are said to include transmission, clutch, and brake fluid flushes, fuel, air, and cabin filters, spark plugs, a new water pump, thermostat, and drive belt. Additionally, oil services are said to have been completed regularly with samples sent to Blackstone Labs for analysis.
This sale will include the original owner's manuals, a toolkit, Porsche windstop, and a clean title. With some major service items recently addressed, this Boxster S is ready for its next owner to get behind the wheel.

Wow. This is a really nice example and was an excellent deal. IMS Solution installed with new clutch, etc is a huge bonus on an already great condition 986S.

Well tires can be fairly subjective. To me they will probably be good for another 4-5,000 miles. The car with these tires handles great and we are never caught out in the rain. But some may think they need doing now. I understand. I tried to do everything I could to keep this car in great shape, even installing new Porsche cup holders. If you know what these are like you will understand. I suppose an alignment could be done tho in driving it I never felt the need. But someone pointed out to me the tires look like they are wearing more on the inside. I would wait for tires to align, myself.
Really, the car is ready to go anywhere you want to take it, as long as the road is paved!
I just changed the oil and filter 100 miles ago. All, meaning all, other fluids were changed 11 months ago -4,000 miles. If you are worried about something specific, just ask and I will answer quickly. Good luck if you decide to bid! Thanks !
What does it need besides possibly tires? I’m interested! Delmenhorst

Thought I would add a little history to my decision to install the LN Engineering "Solution"
IMS bearing kit to my Boxster pictured here.
Upon buying the car a year ago, I decided since the car was in such good shape that I would upgrade the mechanics also. It ran fine and my mechanic said that it probably could have gone a long way b/4 the original OEM double row IMS bearing could have caused problems. But as the engine was already out of the car to check the bearing, I decided now was the time to do it. Since It had 60,000 miles on the car, I also decided to add a new clutch kit, flywheel and some other ancillary parts while apart as my mechanic is an hours drive away.( See pics of receipts) So besides having him do all the service work, I went whole hog on the drivetrain potential problems of a 986 Boxster to have a "worry free" experience.
As life would have it, situations outside my car world have come up that have caused me to decide to sell the car. It is a fabulous clean running sports car that should give the new owner years of good service and hopefully a lot of smiles/ hour.
I added some pics of the LN IMS solution bearing fix on my car that shows the oil line from the oil filter to the bearing. You can read about the IMS "Solution" bearing I installed here - https://lnengineering.com/products/the-definitive-guide-and-faq-for-porsche-ims-bearings/ims-solution.html - I researched this topic and decided this was the best answer for a long term fix for this motor. Most people will agree tho the price is considerably more than the other choices. Hope this helps.

@estiles001- the previous owner owns a foreign car repair shop. He had it installed 1-2 months before I bought it.
He also told me the car had never been in any kind of accident that he was aware of. It just needed a new top. I am assuming from his info that Carfax is a little mixed up. Not the first time! Top works perfect and appears to be of very high quality. Defroster works. So does the a/c. Blows nice cold air. Thank god!:)
Looks like a lot of work has been put in getting this into tiptop shape, including the roof! Could you share what you know of the damage incident (assuming from the description and carfax that you're the owner who replaced the convertible top)?
Hello - Just wanted to let you now I'm here to answer your questions as quickly as I can. Also, I have sent to Pcar 16 underneath photos I just took this afternoon, some of which show detail of the LN IMS "solution" oiling system that hopefully they will put on this site by tomorrow morning.
Anyway, looking forward to helping with any questions I can. Thanks for looking.
