Available for auction is this 2001 Porsche 986 Boxster finished in Black Metallic over a black partial leather interior. This first-generation Boxster was acquired by the seller in 2006 and has since been meticulously cared for, fortified with an upgraded IMS bearing, and treated to several recent service items. Showing just over 73k miles on the odometer, this 5-speed Boxster is now being offered for auction by its longtime owner out of Pennsylvania.
This 986 comes finished in Black Metallic with a black power-retractable soft top and 17” Boxster Design wheels with colored Porsche crests. The vehicle is said to have always been garage-kept under the owner’s care and never subjected to winter roads. The Michelin tires were installed at 73,316 miles and the CARFAX shows the vehicle was reported stolen in 2009, although the seller has confirmed with the NICB there are no related complications and the cause of the report remains unknown. The seller also notes very minor stone chip damage below the front bumper and two small scratches on the passenger side door below the mirror.
Inside, you will find a black partial leather interior with power-adjustable seats and automatic climate control as well as power windows and door locks. The seating surfaces show some wear and the factory radio has been upgraded to a digital Blaupunkt unit. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.
A mid-mounted 2.7-liter flat-six engine rated at 217 HP drives the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual gearbox. An LN Engineering IMS bearing retrofit has reportedly been installed and items address under current ownership include drive belt replacement at 54k miles, a new fuel filter at 66k miles, replacement of a window regulator, and a new guide rod and spring for the convertible top mechanism. Corresponding records are said to be available.
