Sporting a rare Rainforest Green Metallic finish over a Savanna Beige interior, this 2001 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Coupe pairs a 6-speed manual transmission with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. This 2001 example marks the final year in which a Carrera 4 was produced in narrow-body configuration and was first registered in Anchorage, Alaska where it remained up until 2021. Having recently undergone a comprehensive 60k-mile service, this 996 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois showing approximately 65k miles on the odometer.
This Coupe is finished in Rainforest (Jungle) Green Metallic and is distinguishable as an all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 model by its silver-colored brake calipers and rear model lettering. It rides on OEM 18” 911 Turbo hollow spoke wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The tires show production date codes from 2001 and the seller notes minimal signs of road-going wear to the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Savanna Beige partial leather with matching carpets and an Alcantara headliner. Features include an electric sunroof, an optional rear window wiper, power seats, automatic climate control, “Carrera 4” logo door sills, and an original Porsche CDR-220 stereo.
A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 5 seconds and stopping power is derived from fixed 4-piston brakes paired with ventilated and cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The CARFAX report shows the battery and CV boots were replaced in 2021 as well as a full 60k-mile service completed in April 2022 including new air and fuel filters, window regulators, and spark plugs.
This sale will include a clean title and the original owner's manuals.

@collectorcars No negative comments; just questions you don't like the answers to. I asked for something you don't have the ability to do; that's okay. I showed you a tool others use to achieve this and you choose to ignore it; that's okay too. From the first response to me you had an attitude. Good luck with that.
@Tuttebenne sounds like you’re the one with no experience. When you figure out how to paint meter a bumper give me a call. Until then I don’t see any bids coming from you just lots of negative comments which are kind of ridiculous the real buyer on this car will bid and win it.

Some of us have 20 years experience, others have one year x 20 LOL
@Tuttebenne LOL how would you paint meter a plastic bumper? What in the world are you saying? What would be the correct tool? Paint meter is to measure the amount of paint thickness on metal panel.
@collector cars. Thanks for the information. Your statement that "you can't measure paint thickness on a bumper cover because it is plastic" is a bit misleading. YOU can't do it; and that is fine. But it CAN be done if you have the right tool.
@Wogboy thank you for your comment! Happy new year and happy bidding!
Rainforest Green and Forest Green are quite a rare sighting. I had a Forest Green metallic and arctic silver 99 before that... noone commented on my early build 99 but everyone commented on my Green 996... These cars ride low so bumpers being resprayed should be expected... and if anyone has cleaned their radiators they should know that bumpers are held in place by a dozen torx screws etc... they come off and go back on easy and allow for adjustment. GLWS... and for what its worth - IMS not being done is a plus for me... I would rather my own mechanic do it ....
@collectorcars .... thanks for your listing and transparency
@RickMountain no record of IMS as stated in the comments previously. IMS is a $2300 job.
@Tuttebenne you are quite the speculator. I paint metered the entire car the picture are in the gallery. You can’t paint meter a bumper it is plastic. There are no leaks the ground is wet in the pictures.
What is the status of the IMS bearing? Has it been replaced - I don’t see any mention of that in the CARFAX records. Also do you have copies of any service records images you can post?
I too noticed the front bumper cover gap before even reading the comments. A paint depth reading might help put this to bed.
Also, in photo 146 the tube clamp is wet. Is this an indication of a leak evolving? I thought it might be from road splash but the surrounding area appears dry as a bone.

@Spiltmilk I do not have any other information or records conveyed other than what is on Carfax.
@collectorcars awesome the pictures look good. Looks pretty darn good on the underside.
Ok not going down that road…was just looking if there was any history on the coolant system.

FYI all bidders please ask questions via direct message or on this portal. We have been getting text messages and phone calls from all over the country. Highest bidder that meets reserve will win the car. Sending us comps of a sold car from months ago does nothing we won’t remove the car off the market to sell it the sale has to proceed through the auction directly.
Thank you
@Spiltmilk I’ve bought and sold over 50’ 996’ 911’s and and never had to do a water pump replacement. The 60K service has already been performed as stated in the ad. Engine bay pictures were uploaded into the listing gallery last week.
Yeah a couple quick photos of the engine and underside with flash would be great here. These cars can handle the weather and corrosion but it would be nice to see.
Any water pump replacement or anything? Looks like non Porsche coolant from the color I see. Coolant level is slightly under the min in the expansion tank. Any info?
996’s have aged very well and in this color combo it looks even better.

@ArjuN911 this car is not for you. Happy new year!
Front bumper fitment is way wonky as confirmed by photos 26 and 27
@luis.seneriz thanks for your input we agree if anyone wants a new set of tires before they pick the car up we can facilitate dropping off the car to a local discount tire for them. Any bids over $45k we will pay for a new set!
Never seen this color in person. Looks similar to the emerald green metallic i had in my 93 vr6 corrado. Like a previous comment here I have a early 99 with 101k miles. I would drive it to the moon and back. The early 99s are special no glove boxes no
Cup holder and cable throttle. My car is modified to the tilt 2700 plus lbs, 330 hp, I bought an 03 turbo coupe here but the 99 is so fun to drive that I decided to keep both cars. The 996s are real comfortable too to take on long trips. I can’t take any more than 3 hours of drive time in a 993. No one should drive a car with 22 year old tires. GLWTS
@bad_idea_dante I think that’s just the angle we took the picture at. This is how the car came to us. I’m sure you can adjust the clips to make it sit up more but it’s even on both sides.
If you zoom in closer you'll notice the bumper is bowing out slightly wider and not meeting the panel above correctly on the left front of the car. I tried to take a closer screenshot for you but PCAR won't allow me to post a photo.
@bad_idea_dante I don’t see any issue with the bumper fitment.
Thanks for getting those photos for me. I just figured, since it had been driven in such a brutal climate that it'd be nice to see more of the underbody.
Can you comment on the front bumper not being perfectly aligned in photo 1/111 on the driver side? Is a clip broken on the inside? or is it unfixable without a new bumper?
@bad_idea_dante FYI Alaska uses sand not salt. If that was the reason for the question.
@bad_idea_dante I can work on getting access to a lift over the weekend.
With this being an Alaskan vehicle for a decade, could you provide a few more detailed underbody photos? Thank you!
No, I won’t be bidding. I’ve put too much work and money into mine and I love it.
It’s gone 133,000 miles. It’s flawless and runs like a top.
I’d like to see it go 250,000 miles if I live that long.
OOPS! I thought the first draft failed to post!
Sorry for the blunder in the department of redundancy department.
@WRENCH.56 we look forward to your bids!
Beautiful color combo!
I have a 2001 plain old boring polar silver/black full leather 996 C4, but with lots of options and upgrades.
These things are such good driver cars!
I had a 993 C2 and a 993 C4S prior to the 996.
IMO, the 996C4 is a far superior driving experience to those 993s.
Whoever wins this beauty should do everything in their power to keep it from being a garage queen. Drive it! The more the better!
Beautiful color combo!
I have a 2001 C4 in polar silver /black full leather, not half as pretty as this but with boatloads of options and upgrades.
These are such good drivers! I had two 993s before my 996, one an impeccable C4S. The 996 is a flat out superior driving machine to both of those 993s. and not so damned garage queen precious!
Whoever wins this beauty, please drive it a lot. It is so enjoyable!

@1822 thanks for your question! Someone removed the option codes sticker underneath the hood. I’m regards to IMS on the door where the vin sticker is, usually if you had the IMS done the sticker for that would be there there is residue for a sticker but I don’t have the sticker stating it has IMS done or any paper work records.
@Sjmckim9 yes tire date codes are from 2001 based on the condition of these wheels and tires it looks like these were stored in a temperature controlled environment and put on before the car was sold to us. There is no dry rotting or cracking on the tires.
Do you know if the IMS was done?
Also, if there's an option code sticker on the inside of the frunk lid, can you please post a pic of it? Thanks.
Please confirm the tire production date from 2001.
