Finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a Black full leather interior with optional carbon fiber trim, this 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine. The car was outfitted with approximately $30k worth of performance modifications by the specialists at Protomotive under previous ownership, including upgraded K24/18G turbochargers, larger fuel injectors, Protomotive intercoolers, a SpeedTech exhaust, an ECU tune, and a GReddy electronic boost controller. Other modifications include a short-shifter, 6-piston Brembo front brakes, JIC Cross Suspension, 19” Champion Motorsports RG5 Forged Monolite wheels, 997 power seats, a carbon fiber steering wheel, and a powder-coated roll bar. This 996 was purchased by the seller in 2020 and has since been serviced with a new alternator, ignition coils, spark plugs, oxygen sensors, brakes, a GT3 4.0 clutch kit, a new lightweight flywheel, and more. This professionally modified 996 Turbo is now being offered for auction out of Illinois with approximately 75k miles showing on the odometer.
This 996 is finished in Midnight Blue Metallic and features wide fenders with rear side air intakes, Turbo-specific bumpers, side skirts, quad exhaust tips, and a deployable rear spoiler that has been fixed in the up position. Other equipment includes bi-xenon headlights, fog lights, heated power mirrors, an electric sunroof, red brake calipers, a rear window wiper delete plug, and 19” Champion Motorsports RG5 Forged Monolite wheels measuring 9” wide in the front and 12” wide at the rear. The Michelin Pilot Sport tires show production date codes from 2016 and 2019 at the front and rear, respectively. The wheels were refinished under the seller’s ownership along with the installation of new wheel studs. The front bumper has been refinished to address cosmetic imperfections, and a new lip spoiler was installed. Some minor blemishes are noted around the exterior, including small scratches and a ding on the driver’s side rear quarter panel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing unspecified minor damage in 2021.
The cabin is appointed with Black full leather upholstery, a matching Alcantara headliner, optional carbon fiber trim pieces, Guards Red seatbelts, retrofitted 997 heated power seats, and a black powder-coated Autopower roll bar. Other accessories include optional carbon fiber and aluminum trim for the shifter and brake handle, a short shifter, a three-spoke carbon fiber steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, a remote central locking system, the optional Digital Sound Package, a Bose audio system, and an AM/FM/CD stereo. Some clear coat defects are noted on the carbon fiber trim pieces, the radio knobs have become slightly sticky with age, and the airbag warning light is present due to the retrofitted seats.
The twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine was factory-rated at 415 HP and 415 lb-ft of torque. Modifications installed by Protomotive under previous ownership include K24/18G turbochargers with billet turbines, a Protomotive inlet pipe, 80lb Bosch fuel injectors, Protomotive fender well ducts, Protomotive intercoolers, a Protomotive ECU tune, a SpeedTech 70mm exhaust, and a GReddy Profec B electronic boost controller. All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission with a new GT3 4.0 clutch and lightweight flywheel installed under current ownership. Other modifications include a JIC Cross Suspension kit, adjustable rear toe links, and Brembo 6-piston front brake calipers with two-piece rotors. Work performed under the seller’s ownership over the last 3k miles included a new battery, alternator, spark plugs, 997 ignition coils, all new oxygen sensors, a fuel filter, a rear passenger-side axle seal, and a cabin air filter.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I've had the pleasure of selling a few of my cars through my Facebook page, accurate auto jdm auto sales, you can find a handful of reviews there from people who have purchased cars from me from all over the US, securing deals for the vehicles, sight unseen. I can proudly say that my customers have had nothing but good experiences (as can be seen from their reviews), and I expect the sale of this car to be no different. It's mechanically sorted and is a great driving machine; the next owner will not be disappointed.”

@jahismighty I dont have a recent DME report, otherwise I would have gladly attached it.
@jahismighty AC blows ice cold, no issues. Heat works great as well.
@nomiezvr4 Will you please confirm that the heat/AC works? In the driving video I noticed it was 100F and you had the AC off… maybe you prefer the breeze with the windows down :)
Also, do you have a recent DME report?
Speaking as a satisfied 21 year owner, IMHO, these cars are an unbeatable Porsche “bang for the buck”.

@mxtr55 yeah ive seen the documentation after you mentioned it, doesn't seem hard to do, but I've never done it.
Bid in the amount of $25,911
@Eredding1477 - yes, I am aware, but my question is whether the Seller had done it. :-)
@mxtr55 actually pretty easy to do from the heater core side and reinsulate the doors. Less than 2 hours.
@Nomiezvr4 (seller) - so DIY :-) I do all work myself as well. On the coils, did you added the spacers to the heat shield given that they are taller? How about the Foam issue?
@mxtr55 since purchasing the car I had the following work done, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Front tires, New Wheel Studs all around, Wheels refinished, Cabin Air Filter, New Alternator and Battery. 997 Ignition Coils and Spark Plugs, Complete new brakes all around w/ sensors, replaced all 4 oxygen sensors, Axle Seal - Rear Passenger side, Fuel Filter, GT3/4.0 clutch kit w/new LW flywheel I can definitely dig up receipts for the parts. All the work was completed at accurate auto repair in Skokie, IL, its my shop. I can print a receipt showing what the total retail cost for all the parts/labor would have been combined. You can find us on google.
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Nomiezvr4 (seller) - Carfax does not show anything after 7/21. Do you have service records?
@seller - what about the famous Foam issue? Has been addressed?
Power output seems low given that basically is greater than an X50. I would put the power given the mods at no less than 525
Bid in the amount of $21,911
@dub671 yes it has cats, they can be seen from the underbody pics. The car will pass smog, it has no history or pending codes.
@bjj_munkey I purchased the car with the bar. Previous owner himself never tracked it either, he bought it with the mods.
@Nomiezvr4 thanks. Why the half cage if it wasn't tracked?
Does the car have catalytic converters installed? Has it passed Illinois smog?
@Nomiezvr4 @hollandca12 i had considered doing them, but after reading countless pages, it seems like people who drive their cars in a more hardcore track oriented manner are more at risk of having leaks. This car has been nothing more than a nice weather cruiser under my ownership.
@Hollandca12 coolant lines have not been pinned.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
Beautiful vehicle. Any idea if the coolant lines have been pinned?
Bid in the amount of $21,248
Hey bud, I'm hoping to upload underbody pictures in the next day or so. The car was never driven year round, only on perfect weather summer days in the midwest.
At the current boost level, ~17psi on 93 pump with the modlist she's making somehwere in the vicinity of just over 500whp, give or take.
Also, pictures from underneath would be very helpful. Was it driven year round?
Any rough numbers on how much power it is putting down with all the mods?
