The car came optioned with factory Sport Exhaust along with extended leather upholstery, exclusive aluminum trim pieces, and Porsche crested headrests. It was treated to a major service under prior ownership including replacement of the coolant hoses, turbo oil lines, and water pump along with the installation of pinned/welded fittings and an IPD intake plenum. This Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania while showing just over 79k miles on the odometer.

This Turbo comes finished in Orient Red, a deep shade reminiscent of the Velvet Red color offered throughout the 1980s. Red-painted brake calipers are tucked behind factory 18” 911 Turbo wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport N3 tires showing date codes from 2016 in the front and 2017 in the rear. The seller notes the spoiler is fixed in the up position with a Rennkit bypass and the car was completely refinished to a very high standard following the damage reported on CARFAX in 2003. A True360 certificate is provided in the gallery.

The Savanna Beige leather interior features extended leather upholstery covering the ignition lock surround, instrument surround, speaker grilles, air vents, defroster, and dashboard strip along with exclusive aluminum inlays on the shifter and handbrake lever. Other features include power seats Porsche-crested headrests and lumbar support as well as a power sunroof, automatic climate control, and Bose sound system.

A twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine sends up to 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. An upgraded IPD intake plenum was reportedly installed under previous ownership along with the pinning and welding of coolant pipe fittings during an engine-out service at 74,874 miles. Other noteworthy items completed at this time are said to have included new spark plugs, a water pump, coil packs, drive belt, thermostat, vacuum lines, intake boots, turbo oil lines, fuel pipes, coolant hoses, air hoses, and blowoff valves.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and an air pump.

@Tractionless I never tried it, but my guess is that the spoiler is set in a fixed position. The 996 turbo active spoiler was never a good design from the start.

  • Tractionless (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Will removing the spoiler bypass kit allow it to function as designed? If so has the seller physically confirmed this?

I am one the local people who saw this car in person. While I have decided not to bid (for reasons not related to the car), I can comment that the seller has accurately represented the car and there were no surprises to me when seeing this car in person.

@Rockerceo reputation counts. You make a great point. I have sold a car here before and I have sold hundreds on the "other" site.

It would be nice to see who is posting the same stuff over and over and who is serious, but it's okay. As a seller I'm going to answer all the questions in any case.

    Thanks

Honestly PCarMarket should give you a “gold wheel” if you have sold cars here and 2 gold wheels if you have bought one. At least that way the trolls would stand out. Smh

  • SilverRose (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@HowS - 20 years, for sure, it's been running well, no doubt. And nothing beats IRL inspection vs. photos, so I defer to anyone who's seen the car.

  • HowS (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@SilverRose Actually the gaps on this car are very good, even compared to the car in the link you posted, which had less than 1/3rd the miles of this one. If you look at pics 9, 54 and 55 on the Silver car you posted, the gaps around the passenger side light don't appear that great. Also, pic 162 on this car gives a elevated shot of the front front gaps and they look nice and uniform.

Yes this car had a mishap. That was 20 years ago, its been on the road with no issue since then. In fact 3/4ers of the miles on this car are from past the date of the mishap. It was also noted in the write up by Pcar and I had a fresh True360 independent frame report done just prior to the launch of the auction.

I have had 2 Pcar potential bidders come see the car, and I expect another tomorrow. The car shows exceptionally well. Its a fantastic color. Its had a lot of money spent on it to insure it performs as the factory intended and as well as it does. The reserve is set appropriately for the car.

@Devil_Dog_Ultra - uh maybe compare to the opening photos here or many other 996 TTs sold on BAT. The fit lines should be equal gap appearing from bumper cover to fender to hood and back to fender. And this car - per the Carfax and the description was hit front and rear so extra scrutiny is required. https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2002-porsche-911-turbo-20/

@SilverRose you are high I’m not sure what photos you are looking at. Based on your past comments I think you are a troll

@SilverRose the damage occured over 20 years ago, well before my ownership, so no I don't have any photos. I also don't agree that there are any irregularities in the front or rear bumper cover gaps.

  • SilverRose (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@HowS - no photos/history of repair on the accident? Front bumper cover fit and panel gaps appear inconsistent and not at OEM levels in photos, would you agree? Somewhat - but lesser in the rear.

    I just added 8 photos.

Two of the eight, the two with the car parked next to the garage, I shot just after bringing the car here, about an hour ago, but before my son and I sprayed it and wiped it down. The other six, where the car is away from the garage I just shot after a quick wipe down. The pollen here this time of year is tough. We sprayed the car down and then wiped it down, that's all we did.

Of course the original photo array was shot by a professional, not by me with my Pixel phone as these 8 were.

As you can see the car really shows beautifully.

@alwaysbored786 In response to your questions:

    1) Check the gallery, there is a True Frame 360 report. The report also contains photos of the area.
    2) The car starts, stops, run, drives, and handles just as it should. The damage occurred over 20 years ago and over 60k miles ago. If there was a problem with the initial fix, clearly it was addressed in the last 20 years.
    3) My son is washing the pollen off the car now. I will snap a few shots as soon as he’s through. The car is just as stunning in all lights.
    4) I will see about getting a DME however on the 996 its very limited in its value only having two ranges.
    5) I shot the drive video earlier today. I will shoot a cold start in the morning since I just started it to bring it over here to be wiped down.
    6) All emissions monitors are ready
    7) According to the documentation they are pinned / welded. Also they are new lines. I don’t have the ability to drop the motor. I will look into whether I can access it here at my place.
    8) All of the electronics, aside from the aforementioned spoiler function as designed.

    Thanks for the questions.

Beautiful color combo, looks to have had a tough previous life but has been brought back to life! Will be an interesting auction given its history. Interior looks great!

    Questions:
    1. Cn you provide more information on the previous structural damage? Can we get close ups of that repair?
    2. A current alignment report would do wonders to see how well this thing was repaired given the structural damage
    3. Requesting photos in natural sunlight, cloudy day photos make it hard to see the real paint quality.
    4. Are you able to obtain a DME report?
    5. For the drive video, can you include a cold start video, showcasing the engine bay area (and under the car for cold start noise)
    6. Are all applicable emissions monitors in a ready state?
    7. Coolant pipes are both welded and pinned? Usually one or the other, can this be confirmed?
    8. Sans spoiler, do all other electronics function as expected? (Windows, sunroof, gauges, etc.)

I know its a lot to ask, just getting it out there in front to give you time to address all of these. Thank you kindly!

  • HowS (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Thanks for taking a look at my auction for this sweet 996 Turbo.

As you can see in the gallery, its had all the right mechanical work done to insure its 100% ready for the next owner. Take a look at the full gallery of photos, the car shows beautifully. Orient Red is an outstanding color on these cars. Its a hit everywhere I take it.

If you have a question or a pic request, post it up here or send me a DM.

I'll do a full write up with my impressions and opinions as the auction progresses. I'll also have a short drive video up later today.

    Thanks
