Featuring a 6-speed manual transmission coupled with its legendary GT1-derived Mezger engine, this 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe comes finished in Orient Red Metallic over Brown Natural Leather upholstery. The car was configured at an original cost of over $118k with optional heated Sport Seats and the Light Wood Package including additional veneers on the steering wheel, brake lever, and gear knob. Riding on upgraded 19” BBS wheels and recently inspected by an authorized Porsche dealer, this 996 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Maryland showing just over 29k miles on the odometer.
This 996 was ordered in premium Orient Red Metallic paint, an uncommon color first offered in the 2001 model year. The Turbo is distinguishable by model-specific bumpers with large air openings as well as wide fenders, flared rockers, integrated side air intakes, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. The car rides on a set of aftermarket 19” BBS forged wheels dressed in Michelin tires and the seller describes the exterior to have been kept in excellent overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the cabin is appointed with optional Brown Natural Leather upholstery and Light Burl Maple trim lining the air vent brackets, instrument surround, gear knob, handbrake lever, and three-spoke steering wheel. Other equipment includes heated two-way electrical Sport Seats, self-dimming mirrors, black Alcantara headliner, automatic climate control, a Porsche CDR-220 stereo, and a leather-covered cupholder below the center air vent.
The twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine produces as much as 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque, driving all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. A pre-purchase inspection was completed at Porsche Bethesda in March of 2022 and is provided for reference in the gallery. The CARFAX report also shows 15 additional service history records.
This sale will include a clean title.

Prior to the 2003 model an issue on these cars is the tranny specially in 2 gear popping out of gear. I seen many where the transmissions where replaced under warranty with the upgraded unit. For whatever reason I missed this car since I look here every day. I’ll be looking at the car fax. Yes I saw this car not making reserve on ? previously. Has anything been done to the car after the previous auction. ??

It looks like Porsche of Bethesda did a PPI -- and that's it. $350. If this isn't the whole story, please upload service records showing as much and previous records. I had an 01 TT that never let me down. If this one's fully sorted, just show it and the bid numbers will reflect that. GL.
I’m of a different camp, I really like the BBS wheels!! I was never a fan of the original wheels. They were a close cousin to my wife’s old Boxter wheels!! 2nd set of wheels and tires is a nice bonus. After having had a Silver ‘01 this color really me! It stands out from the crowd!!
@boglehead987 Items on PPI has been done.
Bid in the amount of $36,669
This car was RNM on the bigger auction website a month ago. I think it is misleading of the seller to say "PPI. done all items replaced" when if fact none of the recommended repairs were done. Brake line replaced? No. Suspension issues dealt with? No. Asking top dollar this car should be fully sorted and come with factory wheels.
I had PPI done at Porsche of Bethesda and replaced all parts from Porsche and all sorted . No issues on hydraulics on rear spoiler, took pics with it up and down. Comes with 2 sets of wheels and tires. The 997 turbo wheels has new tires on them and never hit pavement, just stored in Tire Rack tire cover. This will only go up in value, The best store of value current owner only paid half of it current value and I'm sure in the next 7 years the new owner could expect the same return. Great hedge against inflation and enjoying a Porsche Master piece at the same time.
Good Morning PcarMarket Community!!! Proud to Present One of my favorite Porsche of all times. Adult driven and garage kept Time Capsule. Truly a master piece. Legendary Mezger engine. Usually not a big fan of the 996 interior but this interior in full leather, wood pieces with sport seat is just spectacular. Love the Analog feel, sound and noise it makes. Nothing artificial here. still can’t figure out why they stopped producing the Legendary Mezger!!!

thanks for bringing such a stunning example. If I read you right the buyer will receive 2 sets of wheels? if so are they mounted with tires the tires shown. I've owned a couple of these and they do have a few concerns. the hydraulics tend to go out on the rear spoiler, any info on that?
the cup holder appears to be aftermarket, ? pump for the power steering/clutch can decide to quit. thanks, I will be bidding.
