Up for auction is this 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a Metropol Blue full leather interior.  This launch-year 2001 Turbo was sold new in California with factory exclusive carbon fiber trim, Porsche crested headrests, stainless steel door entry guards, leather sun visors, and a 6-speed manual transmission.  Upgrades include a custom sound system, radar detector, EvoMS cold air intake, and multi-piece 19” wheels.  Cared for by the same owner in Hermosa Beach, California from 2007 up until 2021, this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas showing approximately 28k miles on the odometer.

This Turbo comes finished in Polar Silver Metallic (L92M) and rides on aftermarket 19” modular wheels dressed in Pirelli tires from 2021.  Compared to the Carrera model, the Turbo sports wider fenders with rear side air intakes as well as flared rocker panels, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and revised bumpers with additional vents.  This example features an optional rear window wiper and U.S. market bumperettes front and rear.  Some minor imperfections are depicted on the front-end and a clean CARFAX report is provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with Metropol Blue full leather upholstery and factory exclusive carbon fiber trim on the shift knob, handbrake lever, and three-spoke steering wheel.  Other optional details include stainless steel door entry guard with model logos, illuminated footwells, leather sun visors, and supple leather seats with Porsche crested headrests.  Additional carbon fiber trim has been added to the door panels and center console. A radar detector system has been installed and the sound system has been upgraded with an aftermarket Alpine stereo and trunk-mounted amplifier.  A complete list of factory options is provided below:

  • XMP – Leather Sun Visors
  • XPD – Carbon-Fiber Three-Spoke Steering Wheel
  • XSC – Porsche Crest Embossed in Headrests
  • XX2 – Illuminated Footwell
  • X47 – Carbon-Fiber Shifter Knob
  • X58 – Carbon-Fiber Handbrake Lever
  • X70 – Stainless-Steel Door Entry Guards with Logo
  • 139 – Seat Heating, Left
  • 340 – Seat Heating, Right
  • 424 – CD Compartment
  • 446 – Wheel Caps with Full-Color Porsche Crests
  • 513 – Four-Way Power-Adjustable Lumbar Support, Right Seat
  • 586 – Four-Way Power-Adjustable Lumbar Support, Left Seat
  • 680 – Nokia Digital Sound Processing (DSP) Audio
  • 696 – Becker-Porsche CDR-220 Stereo
  • 939 – Supple Leather Rear Seats
  • 982 – Supple Leather Front Seats

The twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine is rated at up to 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque.  All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission.  An upgraded EvoMS cold air intake has been installed for increased power and induction sound, and the CARFAX report shows 8 service entries dating back to 2005. A collection of maintenance records will also accompany the sale.

This sale will include the original owner's manual, service records, and a clean title. For those in search of a 6-speed Porsche 996 Turbo, this launch-year Coupe is not to be overlooked.

@vengerider @Sberger6 There are no flaws in the interior with respect to cracks, scratches or nicks including the carbon fiber and the steering wheel. The original wheels are unfortunately not available. I will take some more pictures of the seats but I need the submissions department to upload them and they are not available until Monday. If I get a response from them I will post them. I could send the directly to your email if you would like to post it. Thanks

@md717 Can you post better interior pictures especially of the driver/passenger seats and bolsters, panels on the floor by drivers side door, etc.? Any cracking of the carbon fiber on the steering wheel or elsewhere? Do any of the original interior parts come with the car? Original wheels?

@viavaquero Yes, everything is in complete working condition including the rear wing.

  • md717 (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@twistym2 It shows as a 28K mile interior would be expected to look like. Yes, it is subjective but I would give the interior a 8.5 to 9.

  • md717 (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@Salgado911 A cold start video will be uploaded soon. If you have any other question please let me know.

  • twistym2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

I too have owned some of these cars and they are an absolute joy to own and drive. It's not frequent to find one with miles as low as this one. Although I know it's a subjective question and the answer would be as well, can you comment on the condition of the interior. Say on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best?

  • viavaquero (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Does everything on your Turbo work as it should. Does the rear wing go all the up and all the way down at certain speeds and manually?
Can you get a current Smog test as the CarFax shows one over a year ago.
    Thank you

I own the same year and model as this car and mine came with the bumperettes as well. Unfortunately it's not as easy as just removing them. Them bumper had mounting holes and it was definitely not going to look right with just removing them and running it without them. I ended up just replacing the front bumper with a GT2 which was a HUGE upgrade in the appearance in my opinion. Well worth the cost of doing so.

On another note, my 2001 996 Turbo has brought me years of enjoyment with very minimal cost of ownership. It amazes me every time I drive it as to the performance for the price. I highly recommend this configuration to anyone looking for an exhilarating car. Mine just hit 70k miles and is running strong!

  • md717 (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@Havenhearth Without removing them and looking from the backside they are not through the front cover and would be on the inner facing surface.

  • Salgado911 2 years, 9 monthsago

Any possibilities for a cold start video?

  • Havenhearth (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

If the front bumperettes are removed, are there holes left in the bumper cover? If so, are they on the inner-facing surface of the cover, or on the front?

    Thanks very much,

    David
