Marking the last year of the original 996 design and its 3.4-liter engine, this 2001 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black leather upholstery. It pairs a desirable 6-speed manual transmission with its naturally aspirated flat-six and features 18” Turbo-look light alloy wheels, the Technic Package, a leather steering wheel, and more. Modified with a B&B exhaust system, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan while showing approximately 27k miles on the odometer.
This example comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and rides on optional 18” Turbo-look light alloy wheels. The Technic Package was also opted for, adding Litronic xenon headlights with washers. Other equipment includes a speed-activated rear spoiler and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes the windshield washer check valve was replaced in 2013. Additionally, paint protection film has been applied to the hood, front bumper, mirrors, and behind the rear wheels. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Black partial-leather seats, a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and Porsche-lettered floor mats. A three-spoke leather steering wheel was selected along with the Technic Package, which adds a Hi-Fi Sound System and an onboard computer. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine sends 300 HP stock to the rear wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH can be achieved in as little as 5.2 seconds while reaching top speeds north of 170 MPH. The car has been modified with an aftermarket B&B exhaust system, and the original components will accompany the sale. The seller highlights Mobil 1 oil changes, the rear main seal and mass air flow sensor were replaced in 2006, a battery maintainer was installed, and the battery was replaced in 2013.
This sale will include a clean title and the original exhaust.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a three-owner car. The current owner purchased it from a private owner in 2006 and he has averaged 983 miles per year since. The Carfax is clean with no accidents or damage reported. It has always been garaged and never driven in the winter or the rain. He is selling it because he does not drive it enough to justify keeping it, although it is important to him that it goes to a good home. Don’t miss this opportunity to purchase a nearly new 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera.”

Very nice 996. Just FYSA, IMSB failure rates are now significantly higher than the 2% (or whatever is quoted from the early lawsuit). These cars age and especially with the lower mileage cars, seem to be more prone to IMSB failure than higher mileage cars. Also, in 20+ years, things like the water pump, coil packs, plugs, belts and hoses need to be replaced. When I bought my first 911 (56,000), I had the seller do an oil and filter change during the PPI. Found the start of an IMSB failure and decided to get it done immediately. Glad I did, because it was in the process of coming apart, I bit the bullet and, in addition to the IMSB, I decided to base line my car, including flushing all fluids and new tires (noticed the 2015/2016 date codes on the current tires). Better to be safe than $25-$30,000 + sorrier if you don't do it. Just sayin.

@recioal Oil changes with Mobil 1 have been done every 1000 miles. Last one was done in 2020 and vehicle has not been driven 1000 miles since then. Receipts to be attached
Can you confirm that the oil was last changed in 2013? Can you provide a scan copy of the last service. Could you provide a video of a cold start? Thank you, Al

Can you provide more photos of the underside? Thanks
i'm also curious about the ims. ive had 5 996s and replaced the ims on all of them out of paranoia I suppose. i have a friend w original bearing and he sites the 2% stat you did… but my brother just had his 03 in for the ims solution which is a bit more expensive and why they’re in there they may as well do some additional work so his investment was over $15,000! And there lies the problem…. It can be an expensive visit to your favorite LN certified porsche center.
@fastkarz2 Eric,
As you are likely aware there has been much publicity surrounding IMS failures on 996 /986 Porsches. The reality is that the failure rate is only 2% and that is skewed towards the 1999 and early 2000 models. When failures do occur it is usually early in the life cycle and this car is now twenty-three years old.
The IMS bearing is original. has not been replaced.
IMS solution?
