@Rower19 Sure, but where would I send it?
@DEALMAKER1947 possible to get a cold start video and a video of the car moving before this auction ends?
Great driving cars. I know, I know... the headlights, etc, etc. etc. Good news is you don't see them when driving the car :) I think the 996 is a bloody bargain if well taken care of and needed upgrades made. THEY ARE GREAT DRIVING CARS, period. Bargian.... but, not for long IMO.
Is there any indication that an IMS bearing upgrade will be required? Has the vehicle ever been assessed for this upgrade? Please comment on whether such an upgrade is advisable for this vehicle.
On occasion we have seen incorrect information on Porsche build sheets. This usually results from clerical error or a change of order before the car is delivered. This 2001 996 is a Carrera 4 Coupe despite the build sheet calling it a Targa.

Mercyhealth is right. There are a lot of desirable qualities about this car and if well maintained, they last forever. But I’m the odd man out; I prefer the first gen headlights to the 2002-2004 turbo headlights. I love the simplicity of the design. Oddly, I prefer its understated smooth and taut shape to my dearly departed and more muscular 993 C4S.
My car is up on my lift right now b/c I’m doing my 120,000 mile service. These things appear surprisingly easy to work on for regular maintenance. I’ll see how I really feel about it at 150,000!miles!

@DEALMAKER1947 I completely agree with you and was not trying to be an a**. Your car needs to prove nothing. No offense intended.
The gen 1 Carrera 4s added Porsche Stability Management for the first time. This along with traction control, anti slip control and automatic braking differential make it very desirable.
@Mercyhealth I never said it is a Targa, that is what showed up on the paperwork from the original dealer that first sold it that PCarMarket turned up.
@DEALMAKER1947 obviously this car is not a targa give me a break. The Vinanylics are wrong also very strange. As far as the Carrera 4 is concerned one photo of the inside of the frunk will end the ?s.
Nothing wrong here with the high miles 996.
Really bidders wake up! Unfortunately I’m not in the hunt.
@Craftsmen It is a Carrera 4 and why they put down Targa 20 years ago, I have no idea.
@901navigator I have a clean title and no loan on it.
That's the correct Vin # and it's a Cerrara 4. Who knows why this happened 20 years ago.
The Porsche build sheet is misleading.
It says it's a Targa and doesn't call out the 4 as in Carrera 4
This car has a clean title and no loan on it.
@Griehl YES IT IS
The vehicle is in Ca?

This looks like a really nice car. I'd jump all over this if I had not just purchased an almost identical example, only with slightly more miles on it. These often dismissed first gen 996's are actually great driving cars at a bargain basement price. Being the first water cooled and production line 911s and being a radical design philosophy departure from traditional 911s, they are of every bit the historic significance as the first 911s were in their departure from 356's. I honestly believe they are finally starting to get the respect they deserve.
Bidders, wake up!
Bid in the amount of $3,000
This car has a clean title and I own it outright.
Amazingly clean for a PA lived car!!
"Will include a clean title"? It does not currently have one? Recent Carfax entry shows loan or lein.
