Finished in Black over a matching interior, this 2001 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission mated to its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. Factory-optioned with the Technic Package, Heated Front Seats Package, and Porsche Stability Management, this example has been further modified with GT3 side skirts, a Bilstein PSS10 suspension kit, a Softronic ECU tune, a short-shifter kit, an aftermarket exhaust system, and an LN Engineering IMS retrofit at 40k miles. Showing approximately 135k miles on the odometer, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This example was ordered in non-metallic Black and equipped with the optional Technic Package, which adds Litronic xenon headlights with washers. Sculpted 996 GT3 side skirts have been added, while factory features include a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and an optional rear window wiper. It rides on 18” BBS Sport Design wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2023. The seller notes that the front bumper was refinished in 2014. Cosmetic imperfections include light fading inside the lower front valance and minor signs of road use on the front bumper and sides. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting minor damage in March 2013.
The Black partial leather interior features the optional Heated Front Seats Package, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, and the Technic Package, which adds a Hi-Fi Sound System and an onboard computer. The seller notes that recent OBDII codes (P1411, P0430, and P0410) were detected and have since been cleared. It is reported that these codes may reappear and could indicate a vacuum leak or an issue with the secondary air injection (SAI) valve or pump. A magnetic needle switch in the fuel tank has also been repaired, and the fuel nozzle occasionally needs to be positioned to the left in order to continue refueling. The brake pad wear sensor light illuminated approximately 300 miles ago. Minor front seat wear is noted along with a small tear on the passenger seat and scratches on the interior plastics.
Factory-rated at 296 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Porsche Stability Management was also selected, and performance upgrades include a Bilstein PSS10 suspension system, currently set to standard ride height with comfortable settings, a Softtronic ECU tune, a short-shifter kit, and an aftermarket exhaust system. Additionally, the seller highlights the following service items:
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thanks for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for 3 years and it's been my daily driver, but it's time to move on. The car has over 10 years of maintenance records that I can provide upon request.”

Hi All, A video of the coolant tank opening has been added and is now visible.

I wish this was closer to me! GLWA
Hi All, After a drive this morning I took a video of the coolant reservoir. I couldn't attach the video, but I uploaded a screen shot with the inside. There was some steam that came out when I took the top off, which is what you may notice on the outside perimeter some fluid.

@tommeron 1. How recently (miles and time) did the engine codes both come on and then clear? Approximately 300 miles agi they came on and were cleared with my odbII scanner tool. And was anything done to clear the codes, or did they just clear on their own? Only went away with my clearing of the codes via ODBII.
2. You mentioned burning or leaking oil around town, can you estimate how much oil are you're adding between oil changes? I would say burning, no current leaks. In between 3000 mile oil changes I might add 1/4 of a quart of oil to keep the measure at mid level.
3. Did it end up passing the smog test? Unfortunately, no. I retested this morning after attempting to reset the drive cycle. I drove it for 40 minutes around Manhattan Beach and on the 405/110/105 freeway before testing. The messages is "ODBII Monitors not Ready - Catalyst". It's unclear to me at this point if it's because the car has been sitting for most of the last month and I didn't follow the oddly specific drive cycle or the cats have finally failed. I've added the smog results as a photo to the gallery.
4. Has the car been smoked in? Not that I'm aware of. Def not under my ownership and I've had it since 2022.

@zmaywood, sorry if I missed any of these:
1. How recently (miles and time) did the engine codes both come on and then clear? And was anything done to clear the codes, or did they just clear on their own?
2. You mentioned burning or leaking oil around town, can you estimate how much oil are you're adding between oil changes?

Thanks!
@jspurgeon78 no issues with temperature. They just look like they are original and that would have been the next project I would have undertaken in the next 6 months if I was going to hold on to the car.
Bid in the amount of $12,000
Thank you for the complete response. What issue are you seeing with the radiators? Higher temps?
Bid in the amount of $10,888
@URS6 yes, very likely orig cats.
Are the catalytic converters still original? I believe the P0430 code would indicate a failing car. Nice car and appreciate the honest description.
@jspurgeon78 1. what are the top 2-3 repairs or major maintenances next on the list? I can only think of 1 now, which would be radiator. Based on docs, I don't think they've been replaced and it's probably time. I can send you the pdf of service records and that will probably help guide you on what you'd like to do. Use the contact seller button on the upper right hand corner to private message me your email. I'll mail you the pdf.
2. any oil use or bore scoring symptoms? Uses a little oil just around town. But it's never been enough where I felt like I needed to quantify vs. milage driven. After a track day though, I would always add some oil because I would notice the level drop below middle of gauge.
3. confirming there are two keys - Yes, two keys.
4. have you (or as far as you know did previous owners) track(ed) the car much? Previous owner did track and autocross in Nor Cal. Not sure how much though or what tracks. Under my ownership I've done 3 track days. Streets of Will, Big Willow, and Chuckwalla. 4 Autocross events. 2 at Autoclub speedway and 2 at Port of LA.
5. anything not working / needing attention / broken or missing, not already mentioned in the listing or in comments? Everything works to my knowledge. I feel confident that I've disclosed everything (including engine codes that came on, but have since been cleared).
6. how can I message you? Upper right hand corner of the auction listing you should see "contact seller button". Message me your email and I'll email you the pdf with service records.

Great listing. Sorry for the litany, and saw you are traveling over weekend, but a several questions if you are able to answer or provide any insights: 1. what are the top 2-3 repairs or major maintenances next on the list? 2. any oil use or bore scoring symptoms? 3. confirming there are two keys 4. have you (or as far as you know did previous owners) track(ed) the car much? 5. anything not working / needing attention / broken or missing, not already mentioned in the listing or in comments? 6. how can I message you? I'd like to have you send the service PDF - that may answer a lot of my other questions.

@jeffreywyue46m3 not sure. They were on the car when I purchased. Nothing in the service records indicate which previous owner sourced/installed.
@2mAn Totally forgot to get that checked. I'll get it checked Monday morning and post the results before end of auction.
How did source the side skirts? They really nice !!!!

@zmaywood CA Smog ready to go?
@zmaywood my apologies for the oversight of not seeing the photo of the option sticker! Not sure how I missed it. Thanks for tolerating the redundancy.
@jccaro based on what I see in pic 98: C02, XR8, 139, 236, 288, 340, 424, 425, 435, 446, 476, 490, 601, 659, 696.
Looking up XR8 doesn't appear to be anything, but XRL is referring to the sport design wheels on the car.
Can you share the option codes with us? The wheels should be option code XRL. Thanks.
@redgard looks like a type came through in the copy. A 3.4 liter ICE motor drives the wheels. An electric motor powers the windshield wipers.
if the 3.6 liter drives the rear wheels-what does the 3.4 liter motor do? power the Windshield wipers?
Ok, thanks for the info, I would assume maybe a cat is failing at this mileage. I’m not sure how to reach out to send you my email.
Thanks
Hi All, thanks for checking out the auction. If you message me I can email you a pdf with most of the service records. I'll do my best to answer questions through out the process. I will be traveling Friday - Sunday, but will do my best to get back to you.
@Benblack1 I haven't diagnosed the cat code at this point. There is an aftermarket exhaust that was installed by previous owner. The paper work doesn't mention brand, just mentions install of customer supplied exhaust. No notable clunks driving.
If you message me your email, I'm happy to send over the service records. I scanned them to a PDF.
Have you diagnosed the cat code? The car has completely factory exhaust correct? Any notable clunks driving?
