Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black interior, this 2001 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. It comes factory-optioned with 18” Turbo-look wheels, the Power Seat Package, a rear window wiper, Litronic xenon headlights, and the HiFi sound system with DSP. This 996 was sold new in California and spent most of its life in San Diego before the seller’s purchase in November 2023. The car has since undergone extensive refurbishment and upgrades including an overhauled suspension with adjustable Ohlins coilovers, Eibach sway bars, Tarett drop links, Rennline semi-solid engine mounts, a new alternator, a secondary air system overhaul, new tires, a new windshield, and much more. Showing approximately 101k miles on the odometer, this Carrera Coupe is now being offered for auction out of Washington.
The exterior is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and features optional Litronic xenon headlights, fog lights, an electric sunroof, power mirrors, a speed-activated rear spoiler, a rear window wiper, dual exhaust outlets, and Porsche-branded brake calipers. The optional 18” Turbo-look light alloy wheels were mounted with new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all-season tires in 2024 with approximately 5k miles driven since. A new OE windscreen and black plastic cowl were installed under current ownership along with new front and rear wiper blades. Painted bumper plugs have been installed in the front bumper license plate mounting holes and several scratches and dings are noted around the exterior commensurate with the vehicle’s age. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, and the CARFAX report shows minor rear-end damage in 2013. The seller adds that the original front license plate mounting bracket is included in the sale along with a new Carrera rear model badge.
The black interior includes power-adjustable leather seats, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, an Alcantara headliner, automatic climate control, cruise control, a remote central locking system, and an optional HiFi sound system with a Porsche CR220 stereo, a 6-disc CD changer, and Digital Sound Processing (DSP). A Rennkit BTR-2.1 Bluetooth Retrofit Kit with a Qi wireless charging pad was installed by the current owner. The seller notes some signs of wear on the driver’s floor mat.
Rated at 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine was serviced under current ownership with a new alternator, serpentine belt, Rennline tunable semi-solid engine mounts, a new K&N air filter, engine crank angle position sensor, and a major overhaul of the secondary air injection system. The coolant hoses and reservoir were replaced shortly before the seller’s purchase in 2023. The suspension was overhauled by the seller including adjustable Ohlins Road & Track coilovers, Lemforder front strut mounts, OEM rear shock mounts, new control arms, ball joints, tie rods, steering rack boots, upgraded 22mm/26mm adjustable Eibach sway bars, and adjustable Tarett Engineering drop links. A wheel alignment was recently performed, and the oil was changed at 99,600 miles. The seller adds that an oil analysis from this time shows no evidence of bore scoring.
This sale will include the original sway bars, shocks, and springs, a new rear Carrera badge, an ignition switch, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a tire inflator, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Engine number: 66105338 (reportedly equipped with the dual row IMS bearing with a low probability of failure) Option to purchase the remainder of (transferable) warranty, 9 months remaining for $1400 (in addition to auction price). The car is ready to drive and enjoy! Reluctantly selling as I’m relocating to Australia in a few months.”

Who is the warranty with?

@Autotrend It has not been done under my ownership. It reportedly has the early dual row ims which has a very low failure rate. I’m able to transfer the warranty cover for an additional cost of $1400, as noted if anyone has concerns about its failure.
the most important question has not been asked. what maintenance has been done with the IMS bearing? has it never been done? that is the achilles heel on this vintage 911

@Usaidbarlas they feel good and stop well. In the receipts doc there is a report from Dobson on their condition.

@tsill13 I’m not sure what the noise is, I haven’t heard it before. After listening to the video, it sounds like maybe the pulley/ tensioner perhaps? It doesn’t make the noise in other videos I recorded. Regarding the scratches at the rear drivers side, I don’t believe anything has been done to rectify the damage. The paint is consistent across the entire car. Please refer to report. Hope this helps!
Can you please elaborate on the rear end damage and the resulting fix? Also, its so hard near impossible to really know what we are hearing in video, thank you so much for providing one, the challenge I'm having is what is the "knocking" sound at 14 seconds in on cold start up? It goes away after some time? thanks
