Finished in Lapis Blue Metallic over a Savanna Beige interior, this 2001 Porsche 996 Carreras Cabriolet comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. This 996 had one caretaker prior to the current owner’s purchase in 2005 and benefits from an IMS bearing and clutch replacement. Showing approximately 75k miles on the odometer, this Carrera Cabriolet is now being offered for auction out of California.

This 996 is finished in Lapis Blue Metallic with a Metropol Blue cabriolet roof and factory 17” 911 Turbo-Look wheels dressed in Sumitomo tires. Equipment includes a speed-activated rear spoiler, black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering, Litronic headlights, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller describes the paint to be in very good original condition and notes a few scratches are present on the rims. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Savanna Beige interior features a three-spoke leather steering wheel, matching carpet floor mats, and power-adjustable seats with lumbar support. Other features include automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, an onboard computer, and a Porsche CDR-220 radio. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 5 seconds while stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The seller reports all routine maintenance has been kept up to date including replacement of the clutch and IMS bearing.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, some service records, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “The car was cared for by the owner that clearly showed pride of ownership. This is a clean example of this awesome car.  The tires have plenty of tread left but are a few years old. Although replacement is not necessary, that's one thing you may want to do in the next few years.”

@RogerB Looking at the photos, its serial number starts with IMSR, so it’s the retrofit version. Looking it up on the LN engineering site it shows it was a dual row manufactured in 2021. Hope this helps.

@JoeLA the IMS retrofit and IMS solution are different products currently offered by LN Engineering. Retrofit has ceramic ball bearings. Solution is the oil fed plain bearing. Receipt should say which.

@JoeLA it is the latest version.

@rdipede Thanks, I see that now. Is that the "IMS Solution" retrofit? That is the newest version that has pressure fed oil lubricated plain bearing. Its not clear from the receipt picture.

  • rdipede (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@JoeLA it is the LN Engineering version as shown in the pictures of the receipt and certificate!

Hi Seller- Lapis Blue is the best. Question on your IMS, is that the newest LN Engineering version with the oiled solution?

Good luck with the sale. Nice car..I have a black 99 996 that we truly enjoy.

@Dermultivan When the car was purchased in 2005, it was registered by the owner in TX he then shipped the car to California and titled the car again. The 2 previous owners must be dealer to dealer title transfers. As for the dash.. it was. like that when the car was purchased in 2005. It really never created an issue nor do you notice it when driving. I am sure the LED display could be replaced just never got to it.

    Beautiful example! Two questions:
    1. Can you elaborate on the "...one caretaker prior to the current owner’s purchase..." assertion? I read that as a two-owner car, while the CarFax shows four?
    2. Anyone have experience repairing/replacing a damaged digital display as shown in images 59-62? Thanks!
