Available for auction is this 2001 Jeep XJ Cherokee Sport finished in Silverstone Metallic over Agate cloth. Sold from 1983 to 2001, the rugged and versatile Jeep XJ set the standard for the modern SUV. This final-year example was acquired by the seller in 2017, and has since been serviced with a remanufactured cylinder head, an upgraded stereo, and a replacement headliner. Now with just under 109k showing on the odometer, this all-wheel-drive 4.0L Jeep Cherokee is being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This Cherokee comes finished in Silverstone Metallic and features late-model styling with a steel liftgate, revised taillights, body moldings, and a more aerodynamic front header panel. A few small imperfections are depicted in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. Equipment includes a roof rack, flared wheel arches, folding side mirrors, and 15” five-spoke wheels dressed in Firestone Winterforce tires. A full-size spare is mounted in the trunk.
The cabin is trimmed in Agate cloth and vinyl upholstery with matching carpets. As part of the XJs mid-cycle update, the Cherokee received a redesigned dashboard and gauge cluster. Amenities include air conditioning, an upgraded Sony radio, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. The air conditioning system is said to have been serviced and a replacement headliner has been installed.
Power comes from Jeep's venerable AMC 242 4.0L straight-six cylinder engine which produced up to 190 HP and 225 lb-ft of torque when new. In 1999, the 4.0L received a few updates including a revised intake manifold, a distributor-less ignition system, and improved exhaust porting which improved both power output and emissions. The rear wheels are driven by a 4-speed automatic transmission, while all four wheels can be engaged using a two-speed transfer case. The cylinder head was replaced in 2019 with a remanufactured unit, along with a new thermostat, spark plugs, and various gaskets. A receipt for the cylinder head replacement has been provided for reference and the CARFAX lists an open recall for the intake manifold in 2002 as well as a mileage inconsistency in 2003.
This sale will include a spare wheel and a clean title. A pioneer of the modern sport utility vehicle, the Jeep XJ is lauded for its dependability and off-road performance. This final-year Cherokee Sport represents an incredible value, do not miss out.

@mpersanis It is actually quite simple, just click the contact seller tab under the lot description on the right side.
@nosubC2de I do not see how to send you a direct message, can you send me one? I can come tomorrow to take a look at it.
@nosubC2de sorry, but I do not see a feature to DM you.
@sjg507 I will change the needed parts of the exhaust system. I am hoping I can get it done and post pictures before auctions end but if not rest assured I will have it replaced for new owner. Thank you for your interest.
@mpersanis Yes, feel free to contact me via direct message and we can try to set a time to test drive the car. Thank you for your interest.
where is the car located? Can I look at it in person?
@nosubC2de Thank you for the additional pics. No surprise based on age, but it looks like the exhaust system needs work.
@sjg507 Yes, undercarriage pictures has been kindly posted by Pcars thank you. It is very clean and rust free aside from spring and leafs due to their torsional nature they will build up surface rust on them but chassis is rock solid as rust free as XJ can be. Thank you for your interest.
@BOCO basically a few miles here and there and an oil change. Very clean original car needs a new owner that will appreciate for its originality and condition. This XJ is ready for anything you guys can throw at it and more. Great for someone looking for an all original paint XJ in their collection. Hope it doesn't turn in a lifted rig with 35" wheels, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives out there. Best regards
Are you the previous BAT buyer? It has basically been sitting for the past 1.5 yrs?

@nosubC2de When you have a minute, please post some undercarriage pics. She looks oh so clean on top and within, just wondering how she looks underneath.

Did I mention this car has all original panels, no paint work ever, try finding another one I challenge you car guys!!! You don't know the feeling when I found this truck, practically unobtainium. I am sure it may not be as important to people as an original unpainted Porsche or Ferrari or exotic but those really are easy to find though. She looks as good in person as in pictures. If someone win this please please take care of her.
@captgiddyup Hello there, yes Porsche there is no substitute but we need to put that aside and substitute it with some vehicle that is not pretentious, utilitarian, doesn't wait 3 or more tons, takes 2 car parking spots (in fact these XJ's is about same length as an aircooled 911) mostly indestructible, easy to park, easy to run, easy to maintain, easy on the eyes 4x4? There is really no other choice. Jeep made these right and market has been kind to them, safe these from turning into lifted monstrosities...albeit a tiny little lift is ok.
@captgiddyup "After owning 19 Porsches (18) 911’s I’m SOOOO overjoyed to see the perfect Jeep. I’m not sure how to thank Pcar. Maybe the answer rests with intense Meditation"
After owning almost the same amount of Jeep XJ's this is probably one of the best ones or possibly the best from my searches. I still have a 96 XJ that I will probably keep as long as I can because it has the same color combo of my dads XJ during my early youth. I also have a 2 dr manual that I occasionally use for wheeling but that's another story there. I have had more Porsches in my life but I always migrate back to these XJ's with a sense of familiarity... Zen like? go figure... thanks again for your insight!
We live on a huge farm in Oxford , Md. Maybe this might be the perfect farm car. “Porsche! There is no substitute. The Wife said “be cool dog . It might be just what the typical 911 Owner might need and find useful..” Absolutely. We need more listing like this Jeep!!!!!
