The Honda S2000 has gained notoriety for its high-revving F20C 2.0-liter inline-four that produces 120 HP per liter and its 50/50 weight distribution. This 2001 example is finished in New Formula Red over a Black leather interior and features DOHC-VTEC technology, double wishbone suspension, and a 6-speed manual gearbox with a limited-slip differential. It has been modified with aftermarket coilovers, exhaust, headers, a radiator cooling plate, a front strut tower brace, a modern stereo, and more. This AP1 S2000 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Hampshire showing just over 18k miles on the odometer.
Finished in New Formula Red (R-510) with a black retractable soft top and a black-framed windscreen, this S2000 features xenon headlights, “S2000” fender badging, black roll hoops, paint-matched front and rear spoilers, a black soft top cover, and dual exhaust tips. It rides on factory 16” 5-spoke wheels with General G Max RS tires. Aftermarket TEIN coilovers have been installed, and the brake calipers have been painted in red. The seller notes some scratches and chips, along with minor paint damage on the front bumper. Detailed images, paint meter readings, and a clean CARFAX report are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents Black leather upholstery and features include pushbutton ignition, air conditioning, power locks and windows, cruise control, an aluminum shift knob, aluminum pedal covers, and a center console. A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a digital gauge cluster, and the seller has fitted a carbon fiber fuse box lid, a Boss Audio Systems Elite touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and a Kicker CompR subwoofer. The seller notes creasing on the driver’s seat bolster and reports all gauges, electronics, and accessories to be in proper working order.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter F20C inline 4-cylinder engine that features DOHC-VTEC variable valve timing, the AP1 S2000 sends up to 240 HP and 153 lb.-ft. of torque to its rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Standard performance features include double-wishbone suspension and electrically assisted power steering. The seller notes the car has been modified with TEIN coilovers, an aftermarket exhaust system, aftermarket headers, a Password:JDM radiator cooling plate, a front strut tower brace, engine dress-up components, and aftermarket hood struts. It is also stated that recent maintenance carried out in June of 2024 included an inspection, a tire rotation, and the engine oil and filter being changed. Service in April of 2024 consisted of 4 new tires and an inspection, while work performed in August of 2022 included replacing the engine air filter and cabin filter.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This Honda S2000 has moved from meticulous caretakers before arriving at McFarland House of Cars. It has led a cherished life and the condition certainly shows it. All VIN tags are present, and no paintwork has been performed. The tires were replaced due to age by the previous owner. The top is in excellent condition and performs flawlessly. The vehicle has some bolt-on modifications that enhance the experience but can easily be returned to stock if desired. We do not have the removed parts, unfortunately, but they can be obtained through various channels. All indications are that this will follow the original NSX up the value scale and be lauded as one of the greatest roadsters of all time.”

OMG I am sorry! That sentence is worded a bit ambiguously and I took it the wrong way. Stock engine, new air filter, new cabin filter!
@motofabio it was mentioning the engine and cabin air filters being replaced. You had me scouring the carfax!!!!
Engine replacement is mentioned in the last line of the fourth paragraph. If this is incorrect, it should definitely be corrected.
@motofabio I don't see where the engine was replaced? I personally know two of the owners and they suffer from car ADD. They seek out cool cars, buy them and then move on. With a seasonal car like this in the Northeast it's not surprising. The most recent owner and the source of this inventory piece purchased the vehicle without consulting his wife. She told him two seats for a family of four is not going to work. He traded it in on a 2023 BMW M4 convertible.
Does this S2000 have a story? Owners 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 all had it for just a few months. That’s really unusual and gives me some pause.
Replaced the engine in 2022. Can you speak to the that as well?
