Offered for auction is this 2001 BMW E52 Z8 Roadster finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over a Black Nappa leather interior. Designed by Chris Bangle, Henrik Fisker, and Scott Lempert as a tribute to the legendary BMW 507 of the late 1950s, the largely hand-built Z8 was manufactured in limited numbers at BMW’s facility in Munich from 2000-2003. It utilizes a lightweight aluminum chassis equipped with the legendary S62 V8 borrowed from the E39 M5 paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Originally sold through Bill Jacobs BMW of Naperville, Indiana, as one of approximately 2,500 examples delivered to the United States, this Z8 was acquired by the seller in August of 2021 and has since been fitted with new tires, a new OEM headliner, and the coveted Z8 Performance Package installed by a local BMW dealer. Showing just under 6k miles on the odometer, this iconic BMW Z8 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
The aluminum bodywork is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic (354) and features a black power-operated soft top, painted removable hardtop, xenon headlamps, fog lights, neon tube taillights, a two-piece chrome grille, fender vents with integrated BMW roundels, chrome side mirrors, and dual polished exhaust tips. The model-specific 18” split-spoke Style 59 forged alloy wheels are mounted with new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 tires. The seller describes the finish to have been very well preserved and has provided detailed images in the gallery along with paint meter readings of each body panel. A clean CARFAX report is present as well.
The dashboard, center console, and heated and power-adjustable seats are trimmed in black Nappa leather (P1SW), which is contrasted with body-colored accents throughout the cabin. The driver is supplied with a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, an aluminum shift knob, and central instrument cluster housing a 150-MPH speedometer, an 8K-RPM tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. All knobs, switches, and primary touchpoints are sculpted from aluminum. Driver amenities include remote keyless entry, a push-button ignition, a 10-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, an auto-dimming interior mirror, and a passenger-side cup holder. A new OEM BMW headliner has been recently fitted to the paint-matched removable hardtop.
The Z8 shares its 4.9L S62 V8 engine with the E39 M5 sports sedan, including Double-VANOS variable valve timing, quad hollow camshafts, lightweight aluminum construction, and individual throttle bodies. The S62 was factory rated at 394 HP and 368 lb.-ft of torque, sending power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox and mechanical limited-slip differential. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is accomplished in as little as 4.5 seconds. This example has been enhanced with the Z8 Performance Package consisting of a front suspension brace and strengthened strut support bearings. The CARFAX report shows the starter and brake fluid to have been replaced by Germain BMW of Naples in 2011, and the seller states all services have been brought up to date in preparation for the next owner.
This sale will include a set of keys, a leather key pouch, the original owner's manuals, toolkit, battery charger, removable hardtop, and a clean title. A true modern classic and one of the most recognizable BMWs ever made, this Z8 Roadster makes a stunning addition to any collection.
*We encourage any interested parties to use this time for arranging pre-sale inspections or viewings.
