This 2001 BMW Z3 M Coupe is one of only 678 examples delivered in North America featuring a sought-after S54 engine shared with the E46 M3. It comes finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over a Black Nappa leather interior and features a 5-speed manual gearbox, a limited-slip differential, a power sunroof, power-adjustable heated seats, air conditioning, 17” Style 40 wheels, and a Harmon/Kardon sound system. Additionally, it has aftermarket upgrades such as H&R Sport springs, StopTech stainless steel brake lines, and VAC Motorsports rod bearings and oil pump. Showing just under 14k on the odometer, this Z3 M Coupe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of North Carolina.
Based on the Z3 Roadster, the M Coupe is characterized by its fixed-roof "clown shoe" profile and hatchback rear end. Compared to a standard model, it features M-specific bumpers, side skirts, fender vents, and quad exhaust tips. This example is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic and comes with a power sunroof, fog lights, a rear window wiper, and 17” Style 40 wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Nero GT tires from 2019. The front bumper and hood have been treated with Ceramic Pro 9H paint protection film. The seller mentions some paint chips and a scratch on the passenger-side rear wheel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features power-adjustable heated bucket seats upholstered in Black Nappa leather extending to the center console and door panel inserts. It has an M sport leather-wrapped steering wheel, center console-mounted VDO ambient temperature and oil temperature gauges, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. It also comes equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, a rear cargo cover, a Harmon/Kardon sound system, and an aftermarket reinforced glovebox lid. The seller reports some creases on the seats.
Power comes from a S54 3.2-liter inline-six engine, delivering a factory-rated 315 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. It is equipped with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Automatic Stability Control (AST), while aftermarket enhancements include VAC Motorsports rod bearings and oil pump kit, a Spal radiator fan, Bilstein rear shocks, H&R Sport springs, and StopTech stainless steel brake lines. Additionally, the VANOS (Variable Nockenwellen Steuerung, or variable valve timing system) were inspected, and the fluids, filters, valve cover gasket, brake/clutch lines, and brake pads were replaced under current ownership.
This sale will include a window sticker, a car cover, a battery charger, a sales brochure, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction of my 2001 BMW M Coupe. This is my 3rd Z3 M Coupe I’ve owned, 1 S52 and 2 S54 cars. I’m a collector of 80s-06 BMW, VW, & Porsche. All kept in a climate controlled personal garage. I have a lift if any other pictures are needed. I bought her in Feb 2020 after looking for several years. She is 3 in production from my original I sold 20 years ago. After buying, I found that she had been sitting in a collection, not driven for about 6 years still on original tires. I changed all fluids/filters, rod bearing service, inspected the Vanos, valve cover gasket, brake/clutch lines, brake pads, and replaced tires. After driving her for 500 miles, the rear shocks failed so I replaced with Bilstein/H&R springs. Kept original. Now I drive her to car shows, mountain weekend trips and the occasional date night with my wife.”

Been on VIR many times,,,, In the last chapter of my life. I have a 2007 911 S Cabriolet with 15K miles. Done with this. It has not been tracked. Porsche Dealer offered 47K. Must be worth more.
@Fearless too nice of a car. I've riden in another example with an s52 at VIR, it was awesome. Not this girl. There's something nice about a perfect car and keeping it that way.
Always thought they were funny looking. Not so much now! Will it track?
@mscott very nice car.
@Fearless thanks

Welcome to the auction for my 01 M Coupe. Question already asked was why I changed the rod bearings on a low mileage vehicle. BMW offered a 10 yr unlimited mileage warranty after several early s54 failures in the M3 and M Coupe/Roadster. I bought mine with 5500 miles after sitting in a collection. Decided to replace along with valve cover gaskets to inspect the Vanos. Pic of the work order from Hendrick BMW above
