Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.9-liter V8 engine paired wit a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the E39-generation BMW M5 is one of the most renowned sports sedans of all time. This 2001 example is finished in Imola Red over a two-tone black and Imola Red Nappa leather interior. It features heat and power-adjustable front sport seats, a leather-wrapped M Sport steering wheel, automatic climate control, xenon headlights, a glass sunroof, and 18” Style 65 wheels. It was purchased by the seller about 10 years ago, upgraded with a Corsa cat-back exhaust system, and serviced with a new intake throttle actuator, mass airflow sensors, O2 sensors, ignition coils, spark plugs, and a new fuel pump. Showing under 41k miles on the odometer, this M5 is now being offered for auction out of New York.
The M5 can be distinguished from a standard E39 5-Series by its model-specific bumpers, aerodynamic mirrors, gloss black Shadowline trim, trunk lid spoiler, and quad exhaust outlets. This example is finished in Imola Red and rides on factory 18” Style 65 wheels. Equipment includes bi-xenon headlights, a headlamp washer system, rain-sensing wipers, integrated fog lights, a power-operated glass sunroof, and Corsa exhaust tips. The seller indicates the paint is all-original, the wheels have been refinished, and the car was professionally detailed under their ownership. A set of winter wheels and tires are also included in the sale. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with black and Imola Red Nappa leather upholstery, an Anthracite headliner, and burl wood trim accents. Accessories include heated 10-way power sport seats with memory and lumbar support, an electrically-adjustable steering column, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a multifunction M Sport steering wheel, M5-branded door sills, M-specific instrument dials, an M Sport shift knob, a premium sound system, and a BMW navigation system. The seller notes the rearview mirror was rebuilt during their ownership and some of the instrument cluster pixels are faded, making some information difficult to read.
Up to 395 HP and 369 lb.-ft of torque comes from a 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine with double-VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, hollow camshafts, and a quasi-dry-sump lubrication system. The rear wheels are driven by a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. An upgraded Corsa cat-back exhaust system has been installed and the original exhaust is included in the sale. Service under the seller’s ownership includes replacing the intake throttle actuator, mass airflow sensors, O2 sensors, ignition coils, spark plugs, and fuel pump.
This sale will include the stock exhaust, a set of winter wheels and tires, a car cover, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Great example of a 24-year-old BMW. I have owned over 10 years. Mechanic-owned. No known defects.”

If I had the chance to order an E39 brand new, this would be the colour combo. Truly stunning.
Can you post a pic of the gas door open and the area around the fill?

Hi, I originally took the car to "Detail Dynamics" in Mineola. They did the detail/cleaning. He actually took off Paint Protection at the time to do the detailing and I did not want him to put it back on. There are a few rock chips on the hood but nothing out of the ordinary. The owner of Detail Dynamics said "This is the straightest E39 I have ever serviced" He told me the car was never painted including front and rear bumpers. Tires are original, I did replace the left rear a few years after because I got a small cut on the sidewall and did not want to take a chance. At the time the other tires only had 1-2k miles on them.
Lastly, this car was just at Habberstad BMW in Bayshore for the Airbag recall. They did a complimentary inspection on the car and did not advise ANY suspension components are worn out. There was a service record that some suspension components were replaced in the service binder.
I saw line items for "Thrust Arm Bushings" and "Rear Sway Bar" bushings.

Awesome car and I am a local interested party which is great. Seller I have a few questions if you can answer that would be excellent which would help me consider bidding.
you mention paint is all original is looks exceptional is there any protective film on the nose of this car and have you paint metered it to verify original paint by chance? Definitely looks like this car avoided the LIE and all the trucks and trailers shooting rocks at your car.
are the tires still from 2014 according to the posted service binder? if so if you live in NY you will need new tires to pass inspection these days due to date codes, not a huge deal.
have any suspension bushings and shocks been replaced according to the records you have and if so what milage and age?
This car has received a lot of care of the years from prior owners as well as myself. The previous owner did a great job documenting all service records over his time with the car. I am a mechanic by trade and spent thousands making sure it always ran perfect. All of the service/repairs I have done were preventative. This car has never left me stranded and I would hop in it right now and drive it to Florida without hesitation. I am still trying to search for invoices/paperwork over my time with the car (I didn't document as well as I could) I had the car detailed a few years back, wheels refinished, and PDR (that was over 4,000.00) The exhaust was over 3500.00. I have the original exhaust as well as a winter set of wheels and tires (I never used)
If there is anything else you'd like to know please just ask!
This has been stored indoors since I have owned it.
As for the front bumper I am not sure with how the bracket was mounted. NYS requires a front plate so I never took it off or attempted to.
Great looking m5. Is the front license plate holder attached underneath the front bumper or will there be holes showing if removed. GLWA
